Just guessing at this point who might be the NYR trade candidate but I wonder if it could be Trocheck? Pens were rumored to be interested in signing him last offseason. Not saying he’s getting traded but besides the names you mentioned I can’t think of anyone else.

Love the idea of Ekholm but not at that price. I bet Robertson and a pick might be able to get it done. Doesn’t NSH have one too many defensemen for the expansion draft anyway?

Stacked Rangers for 2021 playoff run
As tempting as this might be since they’ve finally started playing well, I don’t think this is the year to go all in just yet. I still think they should try for a blockbuster trade this off-season, make a few other signings and trades, etc. People may disagree, but I think depending on this off-season they could very well be a contender next season. Then I think you can consider going all in. I just don’t want them to trade for anyone in season who is a rental and doesn’t have term.

Clarity on Eichel Situation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>desertdog111</b></div><div>That’s not far off on value, but there’s not nearly enough cap going out from the Rangers. Need to add Strome and possibly others to make the money work. And I’d personally drop one of Chytl or Kravtsov in that scenario and add in a lower level guys, say Henriksson.</div></div>
Oh yeah I definitely understand that point. Ideally Strome is in the package or traded to another team for draft picks. I don’t think there’s much pressure though because....
- DeAngelo can be bought out pretty cheaply this off-season (only a 383,000 penalty against cap)
- Their other previous buyout penalties will go down next season which gives them more cap space.
- They’ll also gain cap space from Smith’s expiring contract (4.35 mil)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hedman77</b></div><div>I agree with what you said.
I don’t think there’s any chance Lafreniere gets traded. They just drafted him. It wasn’t that long ago that people were calling him the best prospect since McDavid.
Kakko, on the other hand, I think has to be in any Eichel trade. A new guy for Buffalo to build around. Probably the future RW for Cozens.
I’d say Kakko, Lundkvist, Buchnevich and a 1st is close.</div></div>
Agreed. If I were Buffalo that’s the kind of package I’d be demanding for sure.

Clarity on Eichel Situation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabres_Insider</b></div><div>i like what u said. Eichel is a top 10 centre. He's having a down season in a weird year. Eichel was 10th in scoring last season. Fans know what their getting in eichel. Therefore i think a fair trade would be
Eichel for 2021 1st, Kakko, Chytl, Kravstov, Schnider. you give up 2 players off your current roster for a top 10 centre. if i was a rangers fan i would personally do this trade.
Sends buffalo back into a rebuild with good pieces</div></div>
I appreciate the feedback. That’s honestly not a crazy ask at all on Buffalo’s part. Eichel is a legitimate superstar in his prime he *should* get a haul. I’m not sure the Rangers management pulls the trigger on it but it’s probably closer to what a deal would look like than most think.

How a superstar is seen by another teams fanbase
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabreshockey53</b></div><div>they wouldn't want Zibnajad. He's Max Domi 2.0. Have an insane shooting percentage for one season everyone thinks he's a top 10 center then they regress to their average/below average fort that they are at. Eichel to the Rangers makes no sense right now.</div></div>
Idk that’s a pretty lazy comparison honestly. If you’re going to be fair at least include that aside from a career year, Mika had COVID and is currently shooting less than 4%. Is he having a bad year? He sure is. Is he a one year wonder? Hell no. He’s scored 27+ goals 3 years in a row and back to back 70 point seasons. Don’t mean to rag on you specifically but the knee-jerk reactions and hyperbolic statements people make on here are wild sometimes.

I’ll clarify this one more time. The Barkov trade IS a blockbuster and it’s the main reason behind this post. The Staal and Andersson trades are NOT blockbusters. Every other trade beside the Barkov one is what I considered a depth move.

The jets want to compete in the near future, and for that they need picks in the 2nd round or higher and cap space</div></div>
I really wish people would read the description lol. “ Don’t pay too much attention to the depth moves made to this team, this is primarily to show what the NYR would potentially look like with Barkov in the lineup. ”
The minor trades are not meant to be taken too literally. The point was to show how a lineup would fill out and look in general with Barkov added. For example, it doesn’t have to be a Staal trade to the Jets, it could be any team that would be willing to take him.

That’s exactly what I’m saying. I myself think it’s a good deal but we’ve seen a million times before on this site when someone will comment that you need to add Mika to the proposed deal to make it “fair” 😂
