People forget Price was heavily booed after Montreal traded Halak to St. Louis after Halak's glorious playoff run. Blues wanted Price initially but Montreal refused and gave them Halak instead. Great move obviously.

Deadline potential first destinations
I don't see it from Edmonton's perspective. Firstly Holland has been very explicit that he's not spending a 1st for a rental, and secondly MAF has been below average this season.

once again finding interesting homes for tradeable assets
The Oilers trade is horrible. I wouldn’t trade Holloway or the 1st separately let alone together for Brown. Good player but for that price I’d want Batherson. Which would be a no go of course.

Mostly tinkering, Griess > Smith. Hakanpaa should be a better defender than Barrie or we could try to sign Benning instead.

Chiarot is not worth a 1st. The market this year is not like last year - there are many better LHD options than Chiarot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bobcaygeon97</b></div><div>Thanks for taking the time to respond.
1) Oilers desperately need a RHC for draws, they don’t have a good one (Ryan) but he’s barely an NHL player any longer.
2) Size, Dach is a huge kid, Oilers have a size and aggression problem, Dach solves this.
3) Potential, Dach has been progressing the correct way, I see him as a full time number 2C or a RW the greatest attribute a centre has is the ability to play wing.
4) He PK’s in fact he’s on Chicago number 1 unit.
5) He’s from Edmonton, he’s more apt to hang around ( people underestimate the importance of this)
Add on - Dach has offensive potential, Oilers could centre him between Hyman & RNH and that line would be terrible to play against. - Need a goal, throw him on with Draisaitl & Kane and that’s a lot of angry beef beef coming at you.
I’m a big fan of Dach, at the very least you get a different perspective & you see why Debrincat isn’t the guy, Dach fills more rolls the Oilers need.
Those are just off the top of my head, I’m sure I could come up with more.</div></div>
I think the biggest issues with Dach right now are his FO%, and his finish. He has plenty of two way talent but can't seem to take that next step offensively. But, as realKyleDavidson said, it's too early to put a value on him. At this point I only see him being traded as a piece that is valued on potential for a team that is buying. And unless the right opportunity presents itself, I doubt CHI will be buying any time soon. So he probably just sticks around in CHI and develops some more.

Those are all very good points. I will listen on Dach, but he's hard to put a value on right now given that his value is backed by potential more than results at the moment.

What do the picks look like?
What king of youth the oilers could expect?
What king of centre depth is out there
I just really liked the Flyers depth of young players.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to bounce ideas off ya!</div></div>
Absolutely and I think as a Flyers fan we would love to bring in McDavid to help bring the Flyers back to past glory. Maybe McDavid + Skinner + Kassian for Hart * Coots + Provorov + Konecny/Farabee + 2 firsts(2023+2024). Value might be a little low on Phillys side but something like that as a base

Why add onto the debrusk trade?
Tolvanen this season and last
83 games
17 G
20 A
37 P
Debrusk this season and last
80 games
12G
17A
29 P
Tolvanen is younger and has a better contract.
The other trades got too much going on for me to try and evaluate. This one trade just stood out to me as odd

They need experience though, not a 23-year-old who has skills but hasn't put together 2 winning seasons in a row. Varlamov is a good bridge to Skinner / Konovalov / Rodrigue, should one of them work out (all are trending in the right direction).

1) Holland has repeatedly stated (most recently in his halfway year presser) he will not trade picks or prospects unless term is involved, I don't think one more year of Tatar would qualify.
2) Oilers have to be a money in money out, they literally have no CAP to use.
I like the trade though!</div></div>

So translation, if it’s a UFA he wants and can extend, then no problem. Correct?

This Wallstedt one has to be trolling, right?
KH traded down so that Minnesota could pick Wallstedt, to then give up Bourgault (the guy he selected on the downtrade) and a 1st and more for the selection he had in his hands is ridiculous, even for Holland.
