Stars move Holtby and Klingberg to get younger
Carter Savoie & Dylan Holloway are probably the only two prospects the Oiler won’t move almost under any circumstance. I think Holtby is the target but I’m definitely sure those two names are the no goes.

Good Points, I just think Harts the better goalie now, it's kind of like a young Price behind Halak, Halak was the more experienced and actually better, but Price was better long term.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>What about Hart makes you prefer him to Varlamov? The biggest plus I can see is that Varlamov has one more season at $5M and Hart has two more at just under $4M, but at this point Varlamov has a much longer track record of success, while Hart basically has the 2019-20 season and a slight bounce back this year(with his "bounceback" numbers being worse/basically the same as Varlamov).
Do you think that Edmonton is the place that Hart can get it turned around?</div></div>
I think Hart is the better goalie playing In front of a horrendous team.

I'm not sure Varlamov is the goalie the Oilers need. I would want younger and better.

As an Oiler fan, I hate this trade, I don't think Holland would hate this trade which scares the sh=t out of me. Personally, I would move heaven and earth for Carter Hart who's recent rumors are that he could be available.

Easy Fix
Edmonton has literally 4 NHL goalies, they don't need a 5th to make it near impossible to get rid of. Skinner is NHL ready, They're actively trying to get rid of Koskinen, Smith is 39 - Stalock is rehabbing in the AHL.
not to mention they have Konovalov and Rodrigue ready for advancement in the AHL.
The Oilers need a number 1 goalie not another back up which Allen is.
Oilers laugh and hang up the phone on you.

I try to make every trade based on the best information from NHL insiders like Seravalli - Friedman - Dreger - Johnston - Russo - Wyshynsk for examples.
I don't make these trades based on feeling but speculation from these sources and what the team needs, which is why you don't see me trading picks and prospects for John Gibson for example.
The ask for each of those players is already known, is it improbable? ya, is it plausible? also ya.
I think each of these trades could happen and will come down close to what I've offered regardless of where theses players end up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>I have seen different iterations of the Subban-for-Barrie scenario on here, and I'm curious what has been up with Barrie this year?
We have a guy in AHL who is close to NHL-ready that will likely replace Subban either after deadline or beginning next year.
What would we be getting if took Barrie instead?</div></div>
Barrie defensive stats are not as bad people make them out to be, his 5x5 point total suggest an even defensemen, he got 48 points last year which 35 of those were 5x5, his goal differential was positive as well and his PP is really good.
To me it's more about getting money in, money out and a bit better balance of a player defensively, Subban can move up and down the line up, Barrie is better set at 3rd pairing or 2nd pairing.
I think the return for Subban is very fair.

Oilers don't need a young LHD, they have an abundance of those players, and he is nowhere near a 1st round pick, specifically with a team full of young LHD.

I wouldn't mind Tatar, a couple problems I see with your deal.
1) Holland has repeatedly stated (most recently in his halfway year presser) he will not trade picks or prospects unless term is involved, I don't think one more year of Tatar would qualify.
2) Oilers have to be a money in money out, they literally have no CAP to use.
I like the trade though!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wreckless</b></div><div>That depends. Are the Oilers trying to win this year or not? The Kane signing of a deal just for the rest of this season points to “yes” being the answer to that question.
Chiarot is a UFA. So it’s not 2 years of Chiarot. It’s 1 playoff run. With that said, he can be extended if the fit proves as good as I imagine it would be. Same thing for Kane.</div></div>
It's simple, go to the Edmonton Oilers web site, watch archive video of Hollands presser where he specifically says NO pics or prospects for rentals, he will only deal players, prospects or pics for players under long term.

So you don’t think a team would have more interest in Debrusk knowing they can sign him for whatever they want to as opposed to potentially having to lock in at 1 for 4.4.? You don’t think Boston themselves would have more interest in signing Debrusk for less. You don’t think a smaller contract makes him more attractive league wide?
Can’t help you if you can’t follow.

will see, if DeBrusk gets traded its going to be underwhelming, ether DeBrusk will walk or the Bruins will.

I don't think I do that then, MTL is receiving Bourgault, He is the first round pick. Kesselring is a huge RHD defensive D-man and is closing in on the NHL. Had a good first year and had a great post season. This season he's playing regular top 4 minutes and is very good skater for a tree. There is a player there.

Dach has 14 points and is a RHD centreman who can play the wing, he's versatile and huge, he dominated down low on the Oilers in that series and his projection is very high, as I said, JP brings more offence but Dach brings more to the table in a complete game and is more versatile.
Not a lot of people will like the trade, I get that, but I stand by it. Oilers need a tougher line up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Wrong again. You are doing the numbers by season. I am doing it per 82 games. Someone who scores 10 in 40 averages 20 in 82.
16 in 70
27 in 68
19 in 70
11 in 75
73X82/283 = 21.15 per 82.
You also did not follow the bouncing ball. Boston gives Debrusk the QO….HE DECLINES…which means any team, Boston or an acquiring team, can sign for league minimum. Obviously that won’t happen but once he declines the QO the 4.4 has been rejected and he can be signed for less. 😉</div></div>
Except he hasn't played 82 games so his average isn't over 82. thus, your numbers are off..
So how does that benefit Boston today or tomorrow? That's what I've been getting at, he's walking or Boston isn't qualifying him.
