As far as buyouts go
Doesn't really fit their Kaprizov timeline either</div></div>

Start a MIN AGM team and buyout Parise. You'll see exactly how buyout proof his contract is. Trading for 1/2 retention is a SWEEEEEET deal.</div></div>
I have, it's not bad at all after 4 years and we get rid of a headache. We're probably better off just keeping him here unhappy than a buyout, but if it came to it then I'd much rather do that than lose a ton of picks/prospects just to offload him. Besides, if he retires on the team we traded him to we'll be screwed with cap recapture anyways, which is WAY worse than buying him out.

There's a chance he might, the guy will is 36 and most players don't make it to 38-39, let alone 40 when his deal expires.
I doubt we sign Kaprizov to 8x8. He has reportedly been offered around this, but if he hasn't taken it already then I have a feeling he wants less term. My guess is we get him for around $7M x 5 years, maybe a little over $7M. Doesn't really matter, we have the cap to make that work without making any moves so why force a Parise trade and lose assets? That's just poor asset management. He signed the deal and if nobody wants him then he's just going to have to accept a smaller role here.

I wouldn't think a 2nd round pick for a pending UFA fits into our timeline, and I don't think signing a 29 year old Ryan Strome to a longer term extension would either.

He already won two Cups, I genuinely don't think he cares anymore. Beyond that, if he wants to win he's not coming here.
And again, he already said no to coming here when Fenton tried getting him. What would have changed his mind since then?

They’re a tough one with expansion protection. A few teams hinging on getting a player to waive a nmc. If they can get Parise to waive his I’d follow what Nashville did in Vegas draft and protect 4 d. If they can’t I agree no way they can afford losing two d

Reinhart needs to be signed, so BUF isn't going to retain. But yeah cap definitely doesn't work unless they're taking salary back via Rask or Dumba.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nilspoglander</b></div><div>That Schmidt trade to me is kinda iffy, not saying Greenway isn't good</div></div>
It's not really iffy, there's nothing enticing about it. Minnesota has Spurgeon, Dumba, Soucy in the NHL on the right side. They already probably need to move Dumba for cap and roster space, because we have both Brennan Menell and Calen Addison who could step in next season on cheaper contracts, so taking on Schmidt isn't really an option at this point.
But beyond team needs even, Greenway has a very well defined role on one of the top shutdown lines in the league. He paced for something like 45 points there without any PP time. He's also cheap, which is great for us.
So there's little incentive to move Greenway, and there's no incentive to acquire Schmidt.

Something like this
Some very imaginative thinking here, but I echo the first two commenters in that (1) WAY too much for Parise even if he waives his NMC, and (2) Florida isn't trading Lundell or Tippett to get rid of Yandle. Bobrovsky, maybe. Also, Edmonton can just buy out Neal for $1,916,667 x 4 years. They have the cap room and need the first.

Sure, but there's other options out there that are a lot better than Kerfoot. I'd rather go after either Strome, Dvorak, Schmaltz, Monahan, or Reinhart before we consider Kerfoot. Kerfoot just isn't that much of an upgrade for us.

In what world is Kerfoot a top 6 player? He has never scored more than 43 points in a season. I don't see us being interested in him.

Curious to Know About the RFAs
Kaprizov was apparently offered 8x8 and declined. So I’m assuming the wild are looking long term, and the price is likely 9 million. Ek is getting a long term deal as well. No idea how much. Fiala probably bridged at like 5.35 million for 2 years. I have no idea though.

I'm not saying it isn't a good deal for MN, it's just too much cap coming back to them with Eakin involved.

This is the best I could find. I don't remember Russo ever writing about it. And yeah, it's kinda weird, but on the other hand there's lots of AHL guys who don't make it to the show. I guess with the local angle tho you might expect more coverage.

They didn't QO him. Remember goalie KK was supposed to be in the AHL this year with Jones. Talbot was the starter and Stalock was the backup going into the season. The taxi squad wasn't a thing when the QO were due, otherwise I think he would have been re-signed instead of scrambling to sign Hammond at that last minute.
