The Life and Times of Tim
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OrganizedConfusion55</b></div><div>A 1st and our 5th ranked prospect? How much higher is he commanding?</div></div>
Jenner the player: he's a good 2C/great 3C on an amazing deal with term, who brings a lot of valuable qualities (grit, goalscoring, faceoffs, leadership, etc.). If on the market, he'd be a mid-1st, mid-rounder, and a top-3 prospect in an organization IMO. Think 2025 1st, Kulich, and a 2024 3rd.
Jenner the person? The reasons Columbus has to keep Jenner are the same reasons Buffalo has to keep Tuch...except he's also basically our franchise leader in a lot of significant categories (effectively our Crosby). Add on that everyone up through the owner have said he's unavailable (player, GM, and owner, all very publicly) and the offer you'd have to make to make him available/get the conversation started would likely be something like 2024 1st, Savoie, and a 2025 2nd.

Your good. You said what I was thinking just hard to explain how valuable Jenner is to CBJ.

Think this years first and a better ranked prospect/ young player to get us to consider. This offer isn’t worth our time based off the teams prior statements

It’s alot higher. You weren’t really in the ballpark tbh.

Not worth it for cbj to move Jenner. Tbh he’s worth a lot more to us than he is to you. Your better off acquiring Laughton

Saw this on bleacher report Possible huby trade
Gaudreau's biggest motivation for where he chose to play seemed to be being close to home so that he could spend more time with his parents and friends. Moving away from the northeast is gonna be a non-starter for him.

Jackets pass. Sillinger is nearly 2 years younger, he's bigger, nearly as productive already, is developing a good defensive game, and trading one promising center for another doesn't help their center situation. May as well keep the guy they're familiar with and have been working with for years already and who they know is happy with the team.

I sincerely hope Nichushkin gets the help he needs and turns things around, but after screwig it up three times I have zero interest in my team taking on that risk at all, even if we're being paid for it.

Not a chance Colorado is getting a return on Nichushkin with how his last two seasons have ended. He will need multiple seasons of being clean before anyone would risk taking him on and even then he may never rehabilitate his reputation.

So let me get this straight, you are getting a 2nd round pick for trading Nichuskin that gets upgraded if he get over 50 points? You do realize the guy has negative equity. Meaning in order to move him you have to pay a premium and basically get nothing in return but cap space. His contract has significant term. At this point you would have to send multiple 1st to move him. He is almost unmovable.

CAR wants Guentzel long term so
Let’s see…Laine that when healthy is nearly a point a game player who is only signed 2 more yrs or a bust player in KK who is signed to a ridiculous term and is maybe half the player Laine is, hmmm…no we are good with Laine. Face it, you ain’t dumping KK without paying some team a ridiculous price.

Jackets decline. No need for KK. Sillinger is younger, better, and cheaper and fills the same role. Nothing in that package worth retaining on gudbranson and trading laine for

This is hilarious in the context of this post. You think he's going to get better ice time and more importantly better linemates... in Columbus?

That's one of the most desperate, uneducated takes I've ever seen. McConnell is completely hands off. If you think he's going to go to the new GM and try to influence him to go after Marner you're just being silly.

You realize the guy who made that offer was fired, right? Plus the aforementioned two high priced wingers that have since joined the roster. $30M on 3 wingers is not good roster construction,

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>When a player like Marner becomes available and he's willing to waive to Columbus, everyone is on the table.</div></div>
Incorrect. Fantilli is not on the table. The 4th overall is not on the table. Jenner is not on the table. Werenski is not on the table. Jiricek is not on the table. Your desperate attempts to pump Marner's tires doesn't change any of that. We already have two high-priced top-line wingers and are not in a hurry to add a third. If Marner was so transformative of a player as to render everyone else irrelevant, he'd have already taken y'all past the second round.
We are not seeking him. You are trying to sell him to us.

We're not selling at that price.
And Jenner isn't being sold at all. This has been reiterated and confirmed by literally everybody associated with the CBJ, from fans off the street through beat writers and pundits and front office guys all the way up to ownership itself. Boone himself has confirmed he's not going anywhere.

Couture, if healthy, would bring leadership, goals, and he'd be a LTIR candidate, allowing the Leafs to add at the deadline knowing he'd suit up for the playoffs. He's valuable in that sense.
And the 20 man roster issue can be fixed by trading Kampf in September and having Dewar in that 4th line spot.</div></div>
Marner isn't making any more $$$ next season in CBJ than he is as a Leafs.
Oh no, another guy who think Kampf can be traded....just like that.
Couture looks like another Marleau (who cost the Leafs a first). Well past prime time.

Weird that you think Columbus is a Marner away from making the playoffs.
But maybe a miracle happens and Mitch gets them there just to disappear like he does in Toronto. :tearsofjoy
