The guy played 10 games in a row to start the season, of course that'll cause issues in his save percentage. Since Smith has come back, Koskinen has allowed 5 goals on 99 shots, one of which should not have even counted.

seattle isn't gonna take holtby, allen and dridger are better options at cheaper value
I would rather have koski over holtby
Oilers will probably protect koski as they don't really have another goalie they need to protect

Maybe habs can retain some of price salary
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ABOVEAVERAGEHOCKEYFAN</b></div><div>This trade wouldn't appeal to either team, Petry would be a great addition to Edmonton's blue line and a massive upgrade from Nurse, but I don't see this trade going through because of Prices contract (Petry's contract could also be a turn off for Oilers due to his age and the term on his deal). Price is highly skilled but he is essentially a $7 mil backup goalie (With the retained salary) and Edmonton would probably want a good middle six forward in place of him to temporary replace nuge. I also don't see why the Canadians would need another top six forward (on an expiring deal) and would want to swap Petry (who is in the Norris conversation through the first 1/4 of the season) for a 2nd pairing defensman.</div></div>
You must have meant to say massive downgrade from Nurse. Nurse is 26 and Petry has maybe 3 years left of being a very good defensemen. Nurse is a never trade player for Edmonton.
Obviously Price isn't movable and this deal makes no sense but Petry has 6 goals and now everyone thinks he's a top 10 D in the league. He's having a good season, but relax.
Montreal might be in line to play Edmonton in the first round if they help EDM's goaltending an they have no interest in doing that either.

<a href="/users/RawZuccSauce420" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@RawZuccSauce420</a> As I mentioned above, Danault and Armia cld both be moved at the deadline. Most likely getting a 1st & 2nd for Phil and a 3/4th for Joel. So that would be 3 1sts, 2 2nds and a 3/4th for Logan. Seems like a decent way to start a rebuild to me.

And that's awesome... Wayner was quite the entertainer :)</div></div>
Rakell has fallen off, sorry to say. A real sniper in his skates (like Alex Tuch, who seems to be developing) would have had 3 goals last night. I'd judge a second and a good (A/B) prospect is about all we could expect for him.
Silfverberg still has both offensive and defensive skills. He's every bit as skilled as Kasperi Kapanen or Jason Zucker, so I'd say a late first and a B prospect.
I was in the left corner behind the Vancouver goal about four rows from the glass. Marty McSorley had the puck along the boards with his back to me. I could see Wayne coming down the slot. Right on cue, Marty the One Man Party passed diagonally onto Wayne's stick, and he made no mistake; the puck travelled right at me into the net. The second thing I remember about that game was that there was a delay of about 20 minutes while the lights came up, there was some sort of ceremonial recognition, etc., and the Vancouver players lounged around their bench waiting for it all to be over; when the game resumed, the Canucks got going again after the interruption and won it. That shows character.

Problem is you guys are over the 50 man contract limit so it likely wouldn't be approved by the league.</div></div>
You'd be amazed at how fast we could get rid of guys like Rakell, Lindholm and Silfverberg.
Did you notice that Wayne and I share birthdays? It may be my best hockey claim to fame -- even better than having witnessed his 793rd goal in person.

Holloway may be the better player already and almost certainly will be in a year or 2, and he's millions cheaper than Mantha. Holloway may be the better player already? You’re kidding yourself.
Being out west, you’re forgiven for likely seeing a lot less of Mantha. But he’s much more than you’re giving credit.
Your opinion is fine though. I’m not saying it’s wrong if you want to wait for your guys to develop.
Just observing the Edmonton message boards are looking for a top line LW. It’s interesting seeing you guys identify the holes, wanting to upgrade your roster, knowing that you’re getting closer but mostly not willing to give up anything of value to other teams in return. To me, the way the divisions are set up now, you just have to win the division and you’re in the final 4, which for you likely means beating Toronto. No disrespect to Jets.

I don't see Edmonton giving up a lot for Gibson, TBH. Maybe he'll rebound, or maybe, like Matt Murray, the shooters have figured him out. But that's a lot of risk for a guy who isn't an upgrade on Mikko Koskinen.</div></div>
If you honestly think Gibson isnt an upgrade over Koskinen there is nothing that can be said to you that will result in a positive hockey conversation. has to be one of the worst takes ive seen on here

This is a fair outline. I'd counter with Koskinen, Bear or Bouchard instead of Broberg (we need RD, not LD), Konovalov, Lavoie (or Holloway or Yamamoto, but I don't think you'd give them up), and your 2021 first.

I like him, I think he'll be an NHL goalie. I don't see him in the NHL from training camp next fall however - I think he gets a season in the AHL first.
I'd look at signing a UFA goalie in the summer that won't break the bank rather than making an expensive trade. Guys like Grubauer, Binnington and Andersen will require a significant commitment, but there's another tier of goalies that could provide just as much value to the Oilers (1A/1B) in Ullmark, Raanta or even Driedger. I'd be happy to go with one of the latter guys and not have a bona-fide starter because (a) Koskinen puts up great numbers when he isn't overworked and (b) I think the league is moving away from 60-game starters.
In the meantime, lets see whether Smith can be that guy. Koskinen has been flat out overworked - he's played significantly more minutes than any other goalie - and maybe he can rebound if he gets some rest.

The problem with this page is that fans from other team very rarely have any idea how good a teams prospect pool is and how each of those prospects project. I have very rarely ever seen a trade proposal that the fans from the other team don't over value their own players. The ducks are at least 5+ years away from becoming a serious contented again (probably more) and if a team stepped up and made an interesting offer for Gibson I'm sure they would take it.

Broberg is quality and so is the 1st, I agree it doesn't get it done for the Ducks but there's some good pieces in there for a base of a deal, fully aware the Ducks likely aren't trading Gibson though.

Yeah enough to end their rebuild. they have the future number one D and future 1C already. They have legitimately 0 reason to even entertain a Gibson trade, any team trying to get him needs to give them a reason too. EDM doesnt have a franchise level prospect in the system, it would take a franchise level forward prospect +++ to even get ANA on the phone. That price goes up when a division rival is whos trying to get him. Gibson is who ANA is building around they arent trading him

It needs to be enough to end ANAs rebuild and at that point why would they trade Gibson.
He isnt being traded, theres nothing that any team would offer that would make ANA consider moving him.
Im not comparing the two at all, but what would be fair for McDavid? EDM isnt going to trade him just like ANA isnt going to trade Gibson
