<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Larkinisking</b></div><div>Trouba has specific teams in mind, He's linked to both Detroit, Tampa and Florida. Doubt he has any interest in Philly. Besides he's looking for around 7 x 7.5 or 7 x 8 can't see Philly offering him that much.</div></div>

You dont know about his preferences. He prob just wants to play in US because of his dads situation so he would want to be in US, thats it. Maybe he wants to go to Detroit. Of course he does, who would not want to play in his hometown.. yes and he does have home in Florida but half of the NHL has homes in florida.. that is irrelevant information and he does not have NTC so he can do **** about where he would be traded if he gets traded. He might get traded to coyotes to play in ****ing desert or to Florida Panthers to play in front of 2 fans if he is dick about signing contract again.. no player is bigger than club and I personally would love to play for Winnipeg even If my preference is my hometown and city or area where my main home is.. build your home in Winnipeg, its probably okay city, not like detroit which is not great city to live in from what Ive heard.. if he really doesnt want to be there ask for a fckn trade and go elsewhere I dont know, Philly is great place.. if i was him that is.. Why he didnt ask for a trade if he doesnt want to be on Jets? I would want to be on Jets. Contending team with bright future ahead playing on 1st pairing and constantly having to play with likes of Scheifele, Wheeler, Laine and so on. Sign the ****ing paper and play for the cup. You get to enjoy your next 30-40yrs if lucky after hockey wherever you want, probably on mars by that time..

Trouba is dick for acting like it. Doesnt like it in Jets uniform? ASK FOR A FCKN TRADE.. They would work it to fit you somewhere. Maybe you would be traded to Detroit maybe not.. he would tell his preferences to Cheveldoesntgetanydayoff and he would work the best deal possible.. why having arbitration each year?.. gosh Trouba is stupid for doing what he is doing..

If I'm the GM and the owner gives me the directive to trade VT (the only way I'd even consider it), here's my list of needs:

- NHL player that has top6/top4 upside
- elite prospect
- 1st round pick

The most important part, and the hardest to get, is the elite prospect. I'd want to find someone with serious star potential if I'm moving 4.5 years of elite scoring. But the potential alone won't cut it, so I want the current NHL player in the package. That way, even if the prospect busts (most don't live up to the hype) I have something on the roster to show for it. 1st round picks are often overvalued on this site, especially those outside of the top 15. The pick makes for a good throw in to get some value, but it isn't the centerpiece of the trade. If for some reason the deal is with a non-playoff team, the 2nd round pick is probably subbed in for the lotto pick (or the roster player is of lower value and the lotto pick brings more of the value).

some example starting points, most of which won't make sense for both teams:

Pesce, Necas, 1st
Bertuzzi, Zadina, 2nd
Skjei, Kravtsov, 2nd
Kreider, Chytil, 2nd
Beauvillier, Dobson, 1st
Puljujarvi, Bouchard, 1st
C. Miller, Brannstrom, 1st
C. Miller, Glass, 1st
Virtanen, Q Hughes, 2nd

It's a pretty difficult thing to do, to trade for good value for an elite player. In practice, it often doesn't work out for the selling team, which is why my original point of not trading Tarasenko seems to be the safest bet. Look at the returns for Hall, Subban, Panarin, Seguin, etc. If you could repeat the Voracek, Couturier, and Cousins for Carter trade, that would be great, but it often doesn't work out like that.
