Are these fair trades to everyone

It's hard to say that because are you getting the 58 points in 70 games Gaudreau or the 99 points in 82 game Gaudreau?
Regardless, with Kane you know that you are getting the elite version

Thread:
Are these fair trades to everyone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>First off, I appreciate you're professionalism and I may have came off a little too strong and could've been more transparent on my reasoning. I totally agree with the potential ask for Toews considering the additional salary retention and Lottery Protections. Yes, I was a full supporter for them to take a Center preferably Hendrix Lapierre at #22 but they felt there was a better fit with Schneider. Personally disagree with the decision but I like the player so there isn't a lot to be disappointed by.
I personally don't see the Rangers being good at all. I think we'll be bad. Not just a playoff miss but a yet another lottery year. The Front Office has depleted an already brutal defense and the team is very young and inexperienced. Having a rookie as a starter with a defense that is this bad is not a recipe for consistency and sustainable success. This is why I think this trade is detrimental to us and in some instances the Blackhawks as well. If this we're to happen it wouldn't fix our defensive issues and that condition to defer the pick is not something I would love if I was a hawks fan. Even though the 2022 draft is the best draft since 2003 and 2015, or at least believed to be that good, it will only delay the process to rebound.
I compare us to this past year's Winnipeg Jets. Incredible offensive pieces. Great goaltending. No center depth on than their 1C's and bad defense with some outliers.
By offensive pieces:
WPG: Laine, Schiefele, Wheeler, Connor, Roslovic, etc.
NYR: Lafreniere, Kreider, Panarin, Zibanejad, Buchnevich, Kakko, etc.
by goaltending:
WPG: Hellebuyck
NYR: Shesterkin
No center depth:
WPG: Schifele, Little(INJ), Copp, Lowry
NYR: Zibanejad,Strome,Howden,McKegg,Chytil
Bad defense( More so unfinished) filled by:
WPG: Kulikov, Bitetto, a Rookie Heinola, a newbie Pionk, Niku.
NYR: Staal, Smith, Trouba in his first year, DeAngelo, and Hajek</div></div>
Staal isn't on the team anymore. Smith would be included in this trade as a cap dump (which costs).
Also comparing Shesterkin to Hellebuyck is very optimistic

Ok I understand that but when the questionable 3rd overall pick performs as well or better than the CONSENSUS hyped 1st and 2nd overall picks, I'd consider that a good sign in the Draft +1 year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HatterTParty</b></div><div>Alright, again, that whole comparing him to others in the draft class is all well and good. I’m glad hawks fans are prideful of him being in the NHL. I still see others being even better, but that’s just my opinion and research.
I get that he may be special. He may even hit his ceiling. The athletic definitely loves him. It is crazy to be down on him. In the end, Joe Sakic still ended up byram and newhook, who will only make them even better. I’d be willing to bet newhook will excel a lot under mackinnon. Besides, Dach has to go up against them for the next 15 years. Crazier things have happened, but I’m sure there’s an obvious winner in that scenario for that duration.</div></div>
I mean he played as well as Hughes and Kakko

I work for a company of 15,000 employees and love it when even the janitor thinks he's a better then our CEO that is pulling down $10M a year and has doubled the size of the company in the last 7 years because the CEO complained the floors were dirty in the lobby. The company's stock could double and the CEO could give everyone a 25% raise and still the receptionist at the front desk thinks she's a better CEO because she doesn't like the way the CEO doesn't greet everyone every time he walks through the lobby.</div></div>
Lol at the CEO comments.
I'm not going to lie but I didn't really want Dach that much but we were supposed to draft like 14/15th overall or something in that range and we got lucky and moved to 3rd and we got a great prospect who looked very solid as an 18yo rookie. I am super happy with that pick and think that Dach showed signs of becoming an elite center. Now of course that may never happen but that's the gamble with prospects and I definitely don't want to sell him now.

That's fair. I mean I personally think they will both be great players. Who honestly knows who will be better at this point. Suzuki has more value right now but it would also be Chicago giving up on Dach way too early. Kind of like how Kotkaniemi is highly regarded in Montreal but if he were traded, it would be hard to get full value.

Sure I wanted byram or turcotte, however, my choice was honestly Trevor zegras, but that was NEVER gonna happen at number 3. If it was him or byram, yea, I’d be happy. As for now, I haven’t really addressed his speed lately, just his shot and hand eye. Keep in mind, I still haven’t even brought up that Suzuki got Calder votes (albeit not many) and Dach got exactly ZERO. Not once in the last month. I get that people hate that I’ll never be a fan of his, but it wouldn’t be the first time someone disliked one of their own.</div></div>
That's cool but the fact that you just said "I'll never be a fan of his" makes no sense. You won't be a fan if he comes out and scores 100 points next season?

A toxic trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMs</b></div><div>Kotkaniemi played at 18 yo doesn't mean he was better than Suzuki
Suzuki did ****ing well at 19yo we can't complain about is 19 yo season
He started the year playing on the 4th line with Cousins/Weal/Thompson and manage to end the year being the #1 center and was our best forward by far in these playoffs.
Manage to put 41 points despite playing 4th line minutes at the beginning in Claude Julien system ( which is something lol )
But I didn't watch enough of Dach, only highlights ( regular season only ) and his goal looks like garbage goals / huge rebound with an empty net ( good thing he's driving the net I'm not roasting him at ALL )
Again he was super young and making the team at 18 is always something</div></div>
Yeah but you also have to adjust your perception for the obvious overrating that takes place with Montreal prospects.
The last one I saw was Caufield>Debrincat lol

I'd take Dach over Suzuki because he's 6'4 and I think we need a more physical presence.
Either way, it's really not about the value in a trade like this. Chicago fans want Dach and Montreal fans want Suzuki.
The trade is toxic because obviously both franchises were going to say that

I mean I don't know if Tyler Johnson is positive or negative value.
Looking at their contracts and stats, Johnson makes 550,000$ more and there's an extra year on his contract.
If you compare stats:
Cumulatively Johnson wins that but recently it has been Killorn.
I honestly don't know whether Johnson has negative or positive value, I'd say on any other team besides Tampa, Johnson wouldn't be a negative value player but it's a cap crunched team so who knows

Chicago declines the Detroit trade because Mantha is older and Debrincat has been better.
Vegas declines that trade because Krebs is a very good prospect and as good as Strome is right now, I’d say Krebs’ potential is more valuable then Strome
Edit just saw the retained part. If im Vegas I still decline though

I think Brady left because even though he’s the best football player of all time (or pretty close, not trying to debate that), people began questioning whether he could do it without Bellichek. Also a quarterback is in the spotlight more because of the nature of the sport. I mean, maybe Keith will leave but I don’t think he would do it to prove himself (whether it’s warranted or not) like I feel Brady did.
