I don't see SJ as a buyer for him personally. IMO it just pushes the rock down the road a bit more since both him and Kaapo are UFA's at the end of their deals. However I do think they could make a pretty decent tandem if SJ wasn't so far off competing

Oh I don't disagree, I personally try to look a bit deeper, but looking into all the stats I can find (ie GAR, RAPM, QoC/QoT, etc), which is why I think it's important for me to defend Vladar. At the end of the day fans aren't scouts and fans don't easily have access to loads of game footage either. If Calgary didn't have Dustin Wolf and weren't in a cap crunch Vladar would absolutely not be available though

Yeah I’m concerned with Makiniemis heath, back and hip injuries now this early in his career. I’d be fine tossing in though too. I’m totally cool with Eiserman or one of the high end defenseman next season in a top 5 pick again

Trying to be more competitive
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Megalodon</b></div><div>I am curious to read your write up on him, genuinely.</div></div>
Using a base of 1000 minutes played via <a href="https://www.naturalstattrick.com/playerteams.php?fromseason=20222023&thruseason=20222023&stype=2&sit=5v5&score=all&stdoi=g&rate=y&team=ALL&pos=S&loc=B&toi=1000&gpfilt=none&fd=&td=&tgp=410&lines=single&draftteam=ALL" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Natural Stat Trick</a>, Vladar faced the 3rd least HD Shots/60, and the least LD Shots/60 in the league. However he faced the 42nd least MD Shots/60. By definition mid danger shots are unblocked shots taken from from anywhere between the 2 dots and high slot, with the exception of the low slot being high danger. AKA the yellow image in the below image
hd_scoring_area.png
There is some variance between Vladar in Markstrom in the amount of mid and high danger shots they faced (Markstrom facing more HD but less MD), but both faced some of the fewest low danger shots in overall (33% and 34% of shots against from low danger areas). This backs up up my previous point of Calgary being one of the top teams in shot suppression as ~40% of shots on net come from the low danger area in general.
Now realistically the best way to truly see how Vladar played is the eye test. Vladar let in 5 goals (never more than 5) 4 times this season, and 4 goals 2 times. Here are the linked highlights and breakdowns of those games Goals Against.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wgtqpqm87TY&ab_channel=NHL" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Game 1</a>: Seattle(5) @ Calgary(4) [11/1/22] - GA's were 1 clean shot, 1 on the PK, 1 giveaway on the PP, 2 odd man rushes.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk3QPuh0dBQ&ab_channel=NHL" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Game 2</a>: Calgary(4) @ Toronto(5) OT [12/10/22] - GA's were 3 on the PK (1 in OT), 1 deflection off a teammate, 1 clean goal.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE0do2scWdg&t=14s&ab_channel=NHL" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Game 3</a>: Calgary(3) @ Los Angeles(4) OT [12/22/22] - GA's were 1 deflection, 1 giveaway behind the net, 1 rebound, 1 2v1 in OT. (Worth noting Vladar also had a lot of great saves in this game)
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfJHStYHS2w&ab_channel=NHL" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Game 4</a>: Calgary(6) @ Dallas(5) [1/14/23] - GA's were 1 giveaway on the PK, 4 clean goals
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RODP1ltGg4Q&ab_channel=NHL" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Game 5</a>: Detroit(5) <a href="/users/Calgary" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Calgary</a>(2) [2/16/23] - GA's were 2 clean goal, 2 on the PK,1 defensive breakdown, 1 softy.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbFjenHzTuY&ab_channel=NHL" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Game 6</a>: Calgary(3) @ Vegas(4) OT [2/23/23] - GA's were 1 on the PK, 1 clean goal, 1 giveaway that lead to a goal, 1 3v2 in OT.
I think people should really read <a href="https://thehockeywriters.com/flames-vladar-proving-to-be-tremendous-asset/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">this article</a> that came out about him back at the end of January when he nearly stole the starting job from Markstrom. People on here tend to stat watch too much and it really shows in cases like this.

Caps easily decline this trade. Don’t need depth and you’re not getting 40th overall with mantha.

Number 1 Centre
If Canucks were about the press “ka-boom”, the 3rd overall pick would be a good place to start. But CBJ would need to add and work around cap as well. Considering Pettersson is a top-10 asset, I would guess it would look a little like an inflated Eichel trade:
1. Sillinger or Jenner
2. Jiricek or Johnson or 3oa
3. 2024 1st (top-10) or 2023 2rd & 3rd or swap 2023 1sts
4. Cap (Roslovic or excess dman)
For example….
1. Sillinger
2. 3oa
3. 2024 1st
4. Boqvist
…or….
1. Jenner
2. Jiricek
3. Swap of 2023 1sts
4. Roslovic

Big 2 Round Mock with descriptive explanations
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Megalodon</b></div><div>I would never doubt Yzerman’s drafting ability, he seldom misses.</div></div>
Meh; on the Red Wings he hasn't. Not to say Moore is still completely out of the decision as Kasper can play Wing, but his skillset is best tooled for a center.
Ideally, Detroit sees Mazur and Kasper hit their offensive ceilings. Would quite literally be a bruising 2nd line. They may lack starpower and finesse (though with Mazur's assist against Sweden I'm starting to think there is a lot there), they will sure as hell make you scared of touching the puck.

😴 < you on Kasper.
I think both Yzerman (and I) believe Kasper will be an excellent 2C.
That top 8 is quite unfortunate, but definitely how I'd draft it.

what is his value
Debrusk would be good for the Sharks, but only if he's a longer term investment. We can't trade Hertl for someone who's going to walk in a year when we could always just take our chances and wait for him to be a FA.
SJ would likely be more motivated to move Hertl for a deal involving Lysell or Carlo, but I'm guessing neither is really available.

remove Murray or Sturm and SJ maybe says yes, don't think it's really close to fair otherwise. Sturm is about a 2nd or 3rd rnd value. Taking on Murray is most of that late 1st value

Detroit is quite literally rebounding and on the uprise. Slower than it should be (thanks Chris Illitch!), But it is still on the upwards.

Overpay for Hart, potential two 1sts, an nhler, and a decent prospect. I don’t see Dallas moving all that for Ferraro and suter has a no move. The Seattle deal leaves quite a bit more to be desired imo but I do think that could be a fit.

Martin Jones is not a great goalie, never was. When SJ was good, he brought us to the finals. When SJ started to suck, Jones really sucked. So why pay a kings ransom for Hart who by the way hasnt done anything ‘elite’ in this league.</div></div>
Agreed. Think there's maybe 3 goalies that are resilient despite a cruddy team; Saros, Sorokin, and Hellebuyck. Could assume Vasilevskiy, but we don't have any samples.
There's also Giguere's insane run too.
Whoever pays Ullmark is going to be real disappointed.
