New Jersey Devils signed Jesper Bratt (8 Years / $7,875,000 AAV)
What a great contract. Fantastic stuff for NJ, must be nice to have your core locked up long term for 8 mil or less...
Curious to see what Meier gets

Treliving in Space
It's a good idea, but the Hawks probably decline. Don't see them re-acquiring a guy they just moved at the deadline, even if he is an upgrade from Entwistle. The whole re-acquiring guys just hasn't worked out for the Hawks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrodeurBro30</b></div><div>I think we establish a few parameters:
#1: Washington is the ONLY team willing to trade their 1st Round Pick within the Top 10
- there are other players than Bratt who they could target, other teams will make a push to pry the pick away
#2 Washington DOES NOT trade the pick if Michkov is on the board (I don’t need to explain)
#3 Washington only trades 8OA if it addresses acquiring a top line winger, while simultaneously freeing up cap space (dumping Mantha)
- it’s a historically deep draft, why not ask for a historically good return?</div></div>
hahah ummm yeah, sure. Thank you for stating some obvious points...
I think any hockey fan will agree with those points - but the trade above is not close in value.

You do know the Caps 2023 1st is 8oa in a draft that that is one of the best in a very, very long time...
Wilson will be cheaper. He is a unicorn that provides physicality along with top-6 play. You can keep Bratt or do whatever you want with it - but the Caps easily decline and its actually laughable that you would think that this trade is remotely close

The market for a top 6 RFA winger just doesn’t justify that return from Bratt though, especially in such a highly touted draft

As is BrodeurBro30 ‘s Bratt for 8OA, Lapierre, Mantha.
I would throw a different twist on it: Bratt for 8oa…then flip 8oa for a guy like Tuch, Batherson or Kempe (heavier skill with term)</div></div>
I don’t think any of those guys you listed there are on the trading block tho. Why would Buffalo move Tuch, Ottawa has Batherson on a team friendly deal, and Kempe is an LA vet who is on a good deal

The Devils shouldn't be interested in just next year, this is about the future. When you start moving your top prospects, when they actually have that high value, it shortens your window. If you are going to move Holtz, why not get someone with term?

Ben Chiarot isn't going anywhere, he's currently our 2nd pairing RD. Unless Yzerman makes a trade or signing for a true 2nd pairing RHD he'll be penciled in with probably Simon Edvinsson.

Gotcha haha, the way I looked at it was: goalie market is thin and since Kunin had 1 year left on his deal, I honestly almost value him as a cap dump for SJ. 2.75M for a guy that had like 15 pts last season. Just don't think Kunin is where he should be. Expected more out of him tbh. But understand if thats alot to pay haha.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrodeurBro30</b></div><div>1. Why would the Canucks retain?
2. No team will help you free up cap space. Did you see the Provorov trade? It is going to cost a 2nd round pick to move Myers (if the signing bonus is paid, its still a 3rd/4th to move him). If you do not want to send a pick, Aatu Raty would be a welcomed addition. He brings a different dimension to the Blackhawks Centre Pool.</div></div>
You just asked why would the Canucks retain and then stated it would cost to clear salary. That contradicts what you just said. They would retain so they can clear that bit of cap space left over. Myers also doesn't have term, that's also a difference in the trade with Prov.
Yes so when the signing bonus is paid it will cost a 3rd to move him which I put in the trade lol. You're in agreeance to my trade lol

Not sure why it's a surprise. This is what Husso got last summer. When demand is high for a solid UFA, you should get a 3rd out of it.
