Offseason
I think Geekie is gonna improve enough in the next few weeks to be considered to remain between 18 and 88 (if Monty keeps them together that long). I like the acquisitions but think Ullmark will fetch a roster player and a 2nd OR 3rd. Nice job!

Adding depth and top 6
No to any of these trades! There’s enough depth to not have to resort to giving up futures. I’d rather sign Kessel for the money we’re not paying Lucic and see if he can score on the 3rd or 4th line. Don’t know much about POJ…is he THAT much better than Wotherspoon or Mitchell or even Forbort?

Not all Bruins fans, just the OP. I’m a firm believer that since DeBrusk is mostly doing all the right things, the points will come.

Less from Carolina (2nd or 3rd), more to Calgary (add 2nd 2026) and then worry about goaltending (a little)! I’d still do it!

In this scenario, simply because he’s older. Same with Shattenkirk. This is the year to see what the younger players can do!

If the price is right does Xhekaj or Monahan go to BOS
This is quite the subjective question to pose between 2 teams with minimal trading history. Every scenario will be wrong in someone’s eyes. Here’s my ‘ignoring the cap’ scenario for any team:
Xhekaj = prospect + 2nd round pick
Monahan = mid level roster player + 5th round pick
For Boston in their current state based on their needs:
Xhekaj = Wotherspoon + 2026 3rd round pick
Monahan (half retained) = Boqvist + 2025 5th round pick

The only Oilers trade Boston should consider

Right. But you said they get worse now. So does that mean they get worse from adding Holloway? The line up is essentially the same except for the subtraction of Heinen and Kulak sitting on the sidelines until there’s an injury. How about swapping Grzelcyk and Forbort? Could Kulak be that much worse or is he just a product of his surroundings and the Oilers system or lack thereof?

How so? Defence hasn’t changed to what they’re rolling now. Sure maybe Kulak isn’t great on the Oilers but he could be a good depth piece on the Bruins. And Holloway with Beecher and Geekie could be a great fourth line! I like Grzelcyk but he could come back a bust! All this and a 23 man roster with Heinen and Steen as depth pieces seems like a better team to me.

Swayman is NOT taking a one year deal. I listed him as 6 to 7 mil for 8 years.
I understand your hesitation on DeBrusk but if you’ve been watching the games, you can see he’s possessed and it’s just a matter of time that he starts finishing. His 200 foot game has improved exponentially and he’s proven he can adjust no matter who he’s playing with. He won’t get that money from another team but I believe Boston would.

I think if the Bruins remain one of those top teams with the current roster, they re-sign all UFAs on a 1 year deal and look to get a pure goal scorer. Except Swayman and DeBrusk. They ink a 5.5 to 6 mil X 5yr deal for #74 and 6 to 7 mil x 8yr deal for #1. JVR (1.75), Shattenkirk (1.5), Forbort (2), and Grzelcyk (2.5). If they can’t do all that and keep Ullmark, then he’s gone and they give Bussi a shot.

Zadina MIGHT get you some goals with a change of scenery on a hot team with some countrymen but I doubt SJ would accept that return. If he hits for them, he’s a bargain! Right now he’s got 3 goals and 2 assists and is a minus 15 in 17 games on a bad team. Why give up depth and prospects for something they don’t need right now!
That Chicago trade SHOULDN’T happen! Again, giving up on a winning formula AND giving away picks is not a sound management decision.
Wait until Grzelcyk comes back and if he doesn’t out-perform what Lohrei has been doing, then MAYBE go look for a goal scorer that’s worth giving up assets for. Think Ondrej Palat or Tomas Hertl if you’re looking for Czechs or Elias Lindholm or Sidney Crosby if you’re looking for high end centers.

Bruins Add Nylander Next Year
There are so many scenarios that can play out between now and the end of the SCF, but one of them isn’t Boston giving Nylander that much for that long. They would offer him 8.5 million and he and his agent would turn it down due to 30 other teams outbidding them!
One scenario that might put Willy on the B’s is that they either win the cup or lose in 7 with the current roster, they resign all the same players, cap goes up by 5 million and he WANTS to play here and tells his agent so! And even then, he’d be better off signing 3 or 4 years for MacAvoy money, be part of a dynasty (yes, I’m dreaming) absorb the current Bruins culture and go for a payday after that.
One question though…
Should he play left wing or should Zacha and put him in the middle?

After we Win we gonna do it Again
If the cap is only going up by 1 million and they’ve won with the group they currently have, why would you change ANYTHING? Why not offer Forbort a little less or the same for 1 more year to try and repeat? And if Grzelcyk helps you win, why would he take less? And why a 4 year deal for Shattenkirk? I just don’t understand the thought process here!

I liked them together with Beecher against Buffalo. If either one go on waivers, they most likely get scooped up by someone!! Tough one for management!!

Decision Made
Is it though? While you and I may agree that Poitras should stay, I don't know if the shrewd business minded head office would. They also may have already made the decision (unbeknownst to us) to only let him play his 9 games, send him back and sign Heinen. I wouldn't be surprised if the lines on game 10 are : JVR/Zacha/Pasta : Marchy/Coyle/DeBrusk : Frederick/Geekie/Heinen : Lucic/Beecher/Lauko : with Brown waiting in the wings.

If you’re suggesting that Beecher gets 4C, remember that they signed Brown for 2 seasons. My gut says he gets it and JB comes up when he’s hurt!
I also suspect that Grzelcyk and Forbort are being shopped but if no deal materializes, they’ll keep Lohrei in the AHL to log more minutes and bring him up once there’s an LD injury.</div></div>
EDIT: My gut was wrong in terms of Brown...waived today (Oct.8 23)
