Boston Bruins signed Jaxon Nelson (1 Year / $950,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>forwards peak at 25-27. He's already 24.
You are making a whole lot to do for a guy who was playing guys years younger than him.
I like NCAA hockey, I watch a lot of it. But you have to know how to judge the talent there and project it.
A normal hockey player is in the NHL by this age. Not looking to make the jump.
Fact it took him this long to make it isn't exactly a good sign. That's being generous.
All the best to him, but he has an uphill battle.
There are guys 4 years younger than him with more talent coming into the league. When push comes to shove it's hard to spend a lot of time developing a guy who will be 25 next year especially when you only get 3 years of control.
If he can't make the jump right away my guess is he won't make it.</div></div>
It's an uphill battle for many NHLer's. That doesn't mean he can't get there. Bobby McMann just made it at 27 and Justin Brazeau at 26. He has a hard road but it can be done.

PLD im hoping they think twice about it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BruinsWoahWoah</b></div><div>Talent is undeniable - but the attitude, work ethic, and personality is another thing. Can they get him to buy in?
We can probably chalk up Columbus and WPG to the team/scenery.... he didn't want to be there. But his time in LA has been extremely underwhelming and validates a lot of the issues teams have had with him. My concern is that he would ruin the culture of the team - he reminds me of Dougie Hamilton but worse in the room.
I would prefer Lindholm at $7M AAV to Dubois.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Would you prefer Lindholm at 8.5M AAV for 7 years (the Scheifele contract) and whatever return you can get for Ullmark at the trade deadline?
That will likely be the trade off being considered here.</div></div>
Don't want Lindholm. Don't want Dubois. The cost for the benefit is just to high.
Let's see if we hit gold, silver or bronze with Poitras in the next few years and keep financial flexibility for the Bruins.

Bruins will not re-tool in season by trading DeBrusk and LA is certainly not going to move on from Danault.

IloveLinusUllmark2. Good goaltender who appears to be thoughtful, well spoken and a solid teammate.
If Pittsburg moves Guentzel it will be for a 2024 1st plus plus. Matta is redundant in talent and Boston has had enough of paying 3rd pair D 3M.
The Bruins should be sitting this trade deadline out. This year this team is what it is.
Their moves need to be made in the off season.

You are not getting Jake Middleton for that which means you are not trading Matt Grzelcyk.
You are spot on about 1st round picks and UFA's in the offseason.

I don't see Anaheim downgrading to Lundell for that payment.

Not trading Knight just too offset the cap. That would be very shortsighted. Will hold on to that "great upside".

Vehemently disagree with your characterization of Lundell.
His scoring has gone down but Florida has lots of players to score.
His all around game is solid. Trust me, i watched him for 7 games in the first round last year. You win with players like him.

Florida would be best served focusing on resigning Reinhart, Montour and Forsling.
They wouldn't do that by trading for a 5.75M Zegras while giving up Lundell who is relatively cost controlled into the near future.

2024 Devils
I have been loathe to trade Ullmark because the duo of Swayman and him give Boston the one advantage they have over every NHL team.
That being said this trade for the Bruins I would wholeheartedly accept. It addresses Boston's needs of draft capital, a potential bona fide scorer and experienced backup goaltending for the next 1.5 seasons.

Couture for DeBrusk Grzelcyk and Lysell
DeBrusk is going nowhere this year. The Bruins, as a probable playoff team, need him this year. He's a streaky scorer who will have a great opportunity again next year in Boston if he resigns.
Lysell is going nowhere this year. He will be in Boston next year playing on his ELC. Enough said.
Boston does not have to dump Grzelcyk. He provides depth and service to what should be a playoff team. If he is moved it will be for draft capital.

There is something to be said for developing your own and reaping the benefits of young, talented players on ELC.
Lohrei is the perfect example.
Boston keeps him as well as Poitras and Lysell.

If your goal was to improve the 4th line and wait two years to acquire meaningful draft capital at the expense of goaltending, which is the Bruins biggest strength, then mission accomplished.

Beecher was outcompeted on 2 goals yesterday. Poitras has performed admirably this year but he is still far from being a dependable defensive player. Points are too precious even at this point in the season.
Good coaching by Montgomery to get the W.

2nd pairing defenseman playing 21M per game for a cap hit of under 3M and retention as well. It is going to cost more a 3rd rounder 2 years out plus assorted garbage.

Line adjustments
The line adjustment that would have the most impact would be finding a top 6 center to play between Pastrnak and Zacha. With their overall lack of assets as well as two rookie centers the Bruins would be best served waiting until the offseason to address their issues.

Besides the fact that you are a Montreal fan, why would Boston weaken the position that is most fundamental to their strong play last year, this year and most likely through next season?

Well done with the mocking. This trade would reek of desperation from an Edmonton perspective.
If the Oilers are trading Hollaway (albeit he's struggling), it's not for a 25 year old playing in the AHL, no matter how much Bruin fans want to talk him up.

Last year they needed to win now but that thinking can't prevail this year. Two rookies and Zacha (who is better suited at wing) playing center ice does not bode well for needing to win now. Bruins need to take a longer view this year into the offseason.
