Average before rebuild
Ultimately I like this and I think this is what we're currently trying to do. I don't think we're going to be able to get any returns though, pretty much giving reilly and nosek away for nothing.

New BsTrade Debrusk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Thats why i said 5th or 6th.
Some of them will switch to the right side, either way Jake wouldnt make the top 6 and he isn't exactly known for his defensive game to play on the 3rd line. Not to mention he again blocks Pelletier who is NHL ready and ideally should play with Backlund on the 3rd line.
While this trade does favor Calgary value wise it just takes up unneeded cap space.
However if you were interested in adding a younger top 6 center in Monahan a 3-way trade could be set up that sends Jake and Moore to Buffalo, Monahan to Boston, and Eichel to Calgary (obviously there would be other assets involved)</div></div>
Deal. Call it into the league office.

Jakey is better than Dube with a higher potential in my opinion (not that i want him to stick around here to see). I thought Tkachuck and Coleman would be on the RW?

So slight upgrade from 3rd to 2nd rounder, but major downgrade from debrusk and Wagner to this guy?
Does that make sense to you lololol</div></div>
There's no room for them, we're better without them and need to get something in return

Sell for a retool
I don't have a problem with doing most of this even if we still plan on making a run in the playoffs. Do everything listed above and take Debrusk and a pick or two and get LW/LD for right now and I think we'd be better for this year and years to come.

Kane to Bs
I agree. 50% straight up would be tough though. A late 1st (hopefully) or second. I would hope Kane would provide a better wing for the second line and second power play than debrusk. I think kane is what we hope debrusk will turn into in a few years and by that time our core is old/gone.

Not acquiring another D-man
I agree. There probably isn't much they can do except sign debrusk and take a flyer on some UFA for a year at a low price. But why haven't they done that yet? and we do have a good amount of space to play with next year due to a few key players coming off the books. This seems like the best year to take a shot at the cup with a very low risk of screwing yourself in the long term.

I think moving on from Krug is the play (possibly packaging Heinen with him to get back something decent). Krug could require a lengthy contract at his age, size and durabiiity is pretty high risk. Fluto did a pretty good breakdown on him for The Athletic. Also, if we sign krug and protect him it leaves open younder guys for Seattle to pick off, but if we get rid of Krug and protect whoever his replacement would be you'd be in the same boat, so who knows.
I havn't seen much from Heinen other than him being versitile and consistantly "OK", that can be found elsewhere.

Tick tock donny boy
i agree his going to be expensive, but i think this is too much. Also donny seem like he's not going to go for a 1st or 2nd. It sounds like we were second behind the sharks for the nyquist deal and he went for a 2nd/3rd rounder. If we couldn't give the wings that for nquist are we going to give this for Kreider?

Yeahhhh i'd agree its light. They also have no cap room though. Sounds like they're shopping him actively. They got him for a 5th, 2nd, and 4th from SJ so a Ist rounder in Zboril and a 2nd isn't too far i think.

What are we going to do with all the young RFA's with the capspace we have for next year? Havn't seen much about this yet. The trade deadline is coming up and our capspace and signings for next year could play a big part in what we can do or who we can sign.

Also, I agree with the comment about being cap screwed. i think any trade scenario someone puts up has to assume we do something with Backes' contract soon.

I'd agree they'd want DeBrusk. Not sure if i would want to do that. Maybe a 2nd rounder instead of the 4th and someone like Frederic or Keyser.

Sounds like he's going to walk as an UFA. no? Also, i think Krug would work out really well as the 2nd pair/PP D. Krug/Jones on the back end of the PP would be pretty lethal. I think adding a Providence prospect to the deal could do it, not bad haul.

OPINIONS PLEASE
I think its pretty even considering the second rounder included. It might take a 1st if they are to take the backes contract with not retained money, but i would still do it. I'm worried Carlo won't take major steps forward, Heinen is good but not great. I think we need to cash in on their high perceived value now.
Backes would be good leadership and marketing value to a Colorado team and his actual salary drops down to 4mil next year
I also agree with flipping krecji next year for whatever and we'll have some room to play with for next seasons FA's

B's w/ EK
Chara comes off the books +5
Karlssons old contract +6.5
That gets your 11 for Karlssons new contract
Extra 5 mil
Mcquid is done +2.75
That plus the extra 5 gets you enough to sign Acciari and cehlarik to bridge deals barring them going crazy this season and scoring 20+ goals each.
Send Heinen or JFK away with Krecji or Backes to dump their contract and sign McAvoy with the remaining money
Carlo and Donato will be interesting. I don't think Carlo will cost too much, we should be able to sign him for a 3mil @ 3 year contract. I have no idea how their going to play Donato this year if he goes off it could be tough to find that money.
Basically we have the money if we can get rid of Krecji's contract
