I think Vegas passes on that
1. I think if they were truly interested in Risto, it would have happened during the Miller trade.
2. Gallant loves Smith. It’s part of the reason they even made the Florida trade they did to get Marchessault in the Expansion draft. Him and Karlsson are the top 2 PKers for Gallant
3. Everyone bashes the Vegas Defense, but they were top 10 in Goals allowed last year and top 5 in shots allowed. Holden will be replaced in the lineup by a rookie, but that’s basically it. They play a tenacious team defense I really don’t think the coaches care who is back there. And if they were truly worried about the second PP they would have just kept Miller.

Coghlan might be the best option
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buckoleboy</b></div><div>Haha Vegas doesn't have a good history of sending Russians to Chicago. The other problem is that they would have to stash him there at the beginning of the season and hope no one gets hurt. He's been picked off of waivers once, can't guarantee that it won't happen again.</div></div>
You’re right, you have to hope, but probably a chance I would take. He was actually claimed 2x last year, but I still take the chance. If they send him to Chicago he really isn’t part of their future anyway. I kinda expect his 20/21 season to be in the KHL myself.

Agreed. This is assuming no Glass, only because I think they want him centering the top line for the Wolves.
Actually I personally would have Glass as my LW3, to allow him to get the NHL speed this year, since Eakin is a pending FA as well, make Pirri the 13th F and send Zykov to The Wolves.

I see Coghlan more of a 2017/18 Brad Hunt type, a 7/8 defenseman, but some playing time due to his PP play. But not against him on the 23
They should carry 8 Dmen this year,
Theodore Schmidt
McNabb Whitecloud
Schuldt Engelland
Merrill Coghlan
Bury Holden, let him run with Hague in the Ahl. Merrill Engelland and Holden are all pending UFAs. This also allows you to see if the young guys are ready.

I definitely don't disagree! I have seen a bunch of Vegas ACGM but no one ever adds Coghlan. I personally think he has one of the best chances to land a top 6 role of all the defensive prospects.

Dont you think Oilers should keep Russel for 1 more year as he can play left or right side, just in case the other D are not quite ready. Or trade him at the trade deadline!

CBJ isn't even looking that bad. They need another RD i think so EDM might have to give benning or a younger RD but this gives them a new face of the franchise after everyone left. Replaces the scoring from duchene & panarin. They have a lot of young players coming up to replace andersons scoring.

100% it does. You lose scoring in the mcdavid dubois swap for sure, probily atleast 30 points on a good year for dubois. But you're gonna get atleast 20 goals from anderson, 40 points to make up the spread and then jones is a number 1 dman. the 1st is just icing on the cake. This makes edm all around better and not just a one line team.

Have to think they would if they like going with the top end talent > several great players approach. They would still have a solid team:
Nyquist - McDavid - Atkinson
Texier - Wennberg - Bjorkstrand
Foligno - Jenner - Bemstrom
Hannikainen - Dubinsky - Nash
Werenski - Savard
Murray - Nuttivara
Gavrikov/Kukan/Harrington (assuming one can play off hand side)
If I'm the Oilers I think you'd need one more piece that's NHL ready (instead of the 1st) to try to sell it to your fan base that you're still trying to make the playoffs.
Werenski / Jones
Dubois
Anderson
Bemstrom / Texier
The most embarrassing part is that the Oilers would still be missing good bottom 6 players and quality goaltending.

But we know that if it's for more than like $5,5M, we're in trouble. We match for sure but McAvoy misses at least a month and we need to find miraculous ways to move Backes/Miller/Moore. That's an inconvenient situation.
But offer sheet never happens

Huge doubt it would be still an offseason trade, so it would depend on his performance in the first few months of the season. Could maybe be something like a Dougie Hamilton that there has been rumours floating that Carolina wouldn't be opposed to trading out; if Buffalo comes to terms that Ristolainen's time there has expired they could probably work something out. But definitely could sway some conversations later in the season due to the incoming Seattle Expansion

Dougies not going anywhere. and if so (biased) it would be Patches ++ for Dougie.
Brindy likes Dougie so he will be a Cane for awhile

Thread:
Tuch
This offer looks worse than it should, because you're overthinking it and adding stuff that's unnecessary and could be even counterproductive.
Georgiev for M. Subban is kind of pointless. They are close enough in age and stats that each team would rather keep the guy that knows his teammates and how they play. Yes, Georgiev is two years younger with about as many wins, but who cares. A two year age difference is not enough to overcome Vegas' doubts about why you want to get rid of Georgiev and see this part as a positive. Drop that part.
Namestnikov for Reaves actually removes half the backchecking and 90% of the toughness from Vegas' third line, to get a guy who got two more goals and eight more assists last year, at a million dollars higher cap hit. I don't think they do that swap as a one for one, let alone call it an incentive to move Tuch.
An NHL-ready, recent 2nd round pick defenseman in Hajek plus a 24 year old forward who got 20g 20a last year for a 23 year old forward who got 20g30a last year? Not bad, but not quite there.
Holden isn't holding much value right now, so yeah, you're offering Hajek, Buchnevich, 4th and 6th for Tuch. Drop the late picks, and put a 2nd on the table, and they might start to sit down and think about it? But you have to remember: Vegas agreed not to take Eric Staal, or some really good defensemen, in the expansion draft, to get Tuch and a pick, instead. They do like the kid, a bit, as they should. He skates really quickly. He scores goals. He checks a bit. He improves a lot, every year he plays, so far.
Basically, younger players tend to improve at a faster rate than older ones. Since Tuch is a year younger with ten more points last year than Buchnevich, he probably projects to stay better than him, for the forseeable future. Adding a decent defenseman prospect is nice, but if that's the only reason to make the trade, it's not enough.
