Thread: Tuch
This offer looks worse than it should, because you're overthinking it and adding stuff that's unnecessary and could be even counterproductive.

Georgiev for M. Subban is kind of pointless. They are close enough in age and stats that each team would rather keep the guy that knows his teammates and how they play. Yes, Georgiev is two years younger with about as many wins, but who cares. A two year age difference is not enough to overcome Vegas' doubts about why you want to get rid of Georgiev and see this part as a positive. Drop that part.

Namestnikov for Reaves actually removes half the backchecking and 90% of the toughness from Vegas' third line, to get a guy who got two more goals and eight more assists last year, at a million dollars higher cap hit. I don't think they do that swap as a one for one, let alone call it an incentive to move Tuch.

An NHL-ready, recent 2nd round pick defenseman in Hajek plus a 24 year old forward who got 20g 20a last year for a 23 year old forward who got 20g30a last year? Not bad, but not quite there.

Holden isn't holding much value right now, so yeah, you're offering Hajek, Buchnevich, 4th and 6th for Tuch. Drop the late picks, and put a 2nd on the table, and they might start to sit down and think about it? But you have to remember: Vegas agreed not to take Eric Staal, or some really good defensemen, in the expansion draft, to get Tuch and a pick, instead. They do like the kid, a bit, as they should. He skates really quickly. He scores goals. He checks a bit. He improves a lot, every year he plays, so far.

Basically, younger players tend to improve at a faster rate than older ones. Since Tuch is a year younger with ten more points last year than Buchnevich, he probably projects to stay better than him, for the forseeable future. Adding a decent defenseman prospect is nice, but if that's the only reason to make the trade, it's not enough.
