<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Penguins21</b></div><div>Love it!! I agree 100%. That would be The Leafs best available line-up.
I think the best bet is to bury Engvall’s contract in the minors(him being waived exempt too). But if they need that extra 125K or whatever it is against the cap when he’s in the AHL, they are gonna have to put him onto waivers and let someone claim him.
If no one took Tyler Johnson for a 5th round pick or even for free. It would be hard getting a 5th round pick for Engvall(1.2M, 4th line forward). Unless Toronto gave up an asset for a team to take him.</div></div>
Yah the reason no one wanted Tyler Johnson was his contract, idk i guess Engvall fetching a 5th is pretty optimistic but i think there would be teams willing to pay a 6th or 7th on a low risk player like him. He would be an upgrade over several players in the Oilers bottom 6 imo.

I can’t see Anaheim passing on Grans with that Bruins’ pick. They need RD 100%. They don’t have any in their system.</div></div>
I thought about that with their 1st pick at 5, very possible they take Drysdale at that spot because of their lack of depth at RD. On second thought he should probably be taken over Perfetti as they have a few very good young C's in the system like Zegras/Steel etc.

All in all I'd keep him in Germany one year.</div></div>
Yah it can never hurt to give him another year of development whether thats back in Germany or in the AHL.

I could see maybe the Mayfield trade, don't know a ton about Hollowell maybe more likely to happen with higher draft picks. I don't see Nic Petan as an AHLer maybe on the Leafs but he can definately play for the Rangers.

I dont think Stone has a NMC does he? Stone just turned 27 and is arguably playing the best hockey of his career, I'd do this just to get this Marner headache over with

Marner not going anywhere
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CameronLeafs</b></div><div>if the leafs were going to pay him 10 million over 3 years the deal would also likely be done by now. Without buying UFA years, Marner's contract decreases in value significantly. While I think 7.5 is low, 8 x 3 is realistic imo.
You have to realize the leafs know marners camp set his value through talking with the media. Without the media hype, and marners dad and agent saying 11 million, people would be saying if the leafs are only getting 3 years, that 8 million is far too much.
The thing is, 4 years is off the table because he walks right to UFA. 5 years is very very unlikely because then Marner, Matthews and Willy are all UFA's at the same time. that leaves 6, where he would get 10+, or 2 or 3 where the number likely starts with an 8 or very very low 9.</div></div>
I agree i think 10 is too much i was just trying to show that they can make it work with all this offer sheet talk. I think the number on a 3 year deal would START at somewhere around like you said low 9's and Marner's camp will counter with a higher number I would imagine. 3 x 9.2? 2 x 8? who knows what's going to happen.

If Marner was willing to sign for 10 x 6 or 7, the deal would be done by now. He's not signing anything that doesn't start with at least a 9.

Looks good to me, of course everyone will flip out over the 11M but like you said it just shows that it’s possible. I like the idea of flipping Ceci once Dermott’s back, yah the leafs need Defense, not a Defenseman who is terrible at playing Defense.

One goal in his last 24 games. And it crazy to spend that cap on LWer if it forces you to play non NHLers Petrovic and Borgman on defence in the top 6.</div></div>
He was playing through injuries the last half of the season and into the playoffs. I understand Defense is a priority but i’d rather Ferland and that D core whichever way you want the bottom pair (Marincin, Gravel, Holl, Harpur) rather than no Ferland and have Cody Ceci making 4.5 to play on the bottom pair. Or if Ceci can be moved you could still sign a decent bottom pair D for 1.5-2M or so

I guess but you can never win with these AAV's. If i put 4M ppl would freak out saying no way he gets less than 5. Ferland gets 5 because he can protect your 45 point players as well as your 80-90 point players.

They both had 20G's this year and are both probably better than Nylander rn. And when was Johnsson a healthy scratch?? This isn't even the argument, to suggest Mackinnon isn't as good as Matthews is just stupid.

Not to mention Matthews is better on advanced statistic and different goal patterns. But you can believe that you want.
I also love MacKinnon, I'm from his home town, been watching him for 10+ years and I know how good he is</div></div>
You should be watching closer instead of judging every player on their advanced stats and goal patterns etc. Rantanen was nothing this year when Mackinnon wasn't in the lineup, you have it backwards. If Mackinnon didn't play this year Rantanen would probably have had like 40 points. Matthews has had Nylander, Kapanen, Johnsson its not like he's playing with AHLers.
