<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>flyersarephilly</b></div><div>Giroux can play all three positions but has said he prefers the offside wing and at this point in his career he shouldn't play center unless in a pinch. Also, its not as easy to just trade JVR it would also probably be easier to have cap going back in the Gaudreau trade but like the Flyers the Flames also are tight on cap space and they Flyers still need to sign at least to dmen since they lost Myers in the trade and honestly right now I don't think he going anywhere with how he's been playing. He's a 6'5 right shot dman who can skate really well you don't normally find those laying around. I find it ironic that Calgary had him in camp and chose not to sign him and now fans want him.</div></div>
Yeah missing out on Myers stings now for sure. I don't see the above trade happening anyways, I really doubt the Flyers would make big changes anyways.
How about something like this:
Gaudreau
Kylington
for
Lindblom
Sanheim
Frost
Cap works, plus a LW is coming back to us in the deal. I don't know if the Flyers would deal Lindblom after everything that's happened, but it is still a business, and Johnny needs to go home. He could slide in behind Giroux on the depth chart and probably find his niche again.

Giroux can play all three forward positions can he not?
Trade JVR, he doesn't have trade protection and would easily still have some value to someone.
Problem solved.

Barkov pipedream
Hang on now everyone, the OP gave up a lot of very good pieces for Barkov here.
Nils is going to be a star, I think he's roughly a top 10 NHL drafted prospect, and Deangelo was on pace for like 60 points as a 23/24 year old Dman.
Chytl is a pretty good piece too.

Value of Mark Giordano
I don't see Giordano being traded unless it's at the deadline of his last season and the flames have imploded and are out of the playoff picture.
The only other way would be if they blew it up between now and then and he said he wanted to go to a contender to finish his career. If that were the case I would hope to hell that ownership would agree to eat 50%, because that's the only way they might get something of value for him, he's almost 37 years old.

Sign Hall - Balanced Lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>In a flat cap? I think he will get around 8M and he prioritize a long term deal with a contender over a big pay day. Talbot might be a full time starter next year but I still think trading Rittich is a bad move. None of the other goalies are NHL ready and I don't trust the cheap FA market enough.
Overall I don't mind this team but maybe Montour over Miller?</div></div>
Yeah I'd rather Montour over Miller, but his AAV will probably be higher and I already moved Rittich and Ryan (even though I hated it) to fit Hall in while keeping the rest of the forward group in tact as well.
Going to be tough sledding for Treliving this off season if he wants to bring in Hall.

I don't. Didn't want to move Ryan either but I needed the cap space, and Talbot is just a more proven goalie than Rittich at this point.

McDavid
Mackinnon
Matthews
Crosby
Malkin
Barkov
Stamkos and Point are up there too in the neighborhood. Draisaitl.
It could be argued that he isn't even top 10 at the moment. There are a lot of good centers out there.
Eichel ranks 20th among NHL centers for 5 on 5 points per 60 minutes over the last 3 seasons.
But none of that matters anyways, Eichel is not returning two prime aged 1st line NHL forwards plus.

deal with the devils
Ugh the over valuing of draft picks makes me cringe.
Apparently the value of 8th overall so HUGE that Lindholm isn't worth that magic bean all by himself, the Flames have to add a 3rd rounder to make the Sabres budge?
Wrong.
Take the 3rd off the Flames side and start adding to the Sabres side to get the value right. And once the value is right the Flames probably still don't do it because why would they trade their #1RW when they are trying to contend???

Hall and Drysdale
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>draft_em_sign_em_trade_em</b></div><div>I know this is not realistic but the logic behind is...Trade Tkachuk opens cap space for Hall (rumor says he would take a hometown discount like JT for the Flames), Hall will easily replaces Tkachuk's offensive. At least one or two of the Flames UFA dmen cannot fit under the cap and their captain Giordano is a dinosaur, so adding Drysdale fixes the Dcore. Tkachuk has a higher trade value than the other trade option, Johnny Gaudreau. Also since Tkachuk signed that bridge contract, the 10+ million contract demand will be coming sooner than later.</div></div>
I get the logic, but just because the Flames hypothetically sign Hall doesn't mean they should sell low on Tkachuk.

Thank you for proving my point.
Kessel was a proven NHLer and was worth multiple draft picks. That's not new, that's normal.
Just because Boston managed to hit on both of those two high picks doesn't change that fact.
They could have just as easily ended up with Duncan Siemans and Erik Gudbranson instead. That's the risk of dealing proven NHL talent for draft picks.

Laugh it up all you want. Doesn't change the fact that real NHL players are worth more than draft picks, especially a 22 year old who's already put up a 34 goal, 77 point season, any one who isn't an idiot knows that.

There needs to be multiple unproven commodities included to offset the value of a proven one.
Add Norris, the Isles pick and maybe even more.

Duchene is a useful player for sure, but he's no bargain at $8 million AAV and is 6 months from turning 30. I'd rather have Johansen on the Flames to be honest, same type of package.
