This team is killing me
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>Schenn probably isn't an upgrade on Holl. Holl's playing the tough matchups on one of the better defensive teams in the league with a 39 year old Giordano as his partner and getting good results. Before that he played with Muzzin and succeeded there too. Leafs fans love to rag on the guy but he's done relatively well in the role for what he earns. CapFriendly probably won't like it but someone is going to give Holl a real contract next season, in the 4-5m range. The reason the Leafs would be picking Schenn up would be depth.</div></div>
It'll be hilarious when it's Vancouver that gives Holl 4x5 in the off-season to plug the giant holes they have on defense

I find it interesting that to improve a team that is top 5 in goals for and bottom 10 in goals against you decided to bring in 8 new forwards but only one new defenseman lol

If You ReBuild It They Will Come

He had a back injury that he had surgery came back and scored 30 goals. Hes had some injuries from blocking shots that anyone could have had. Considering the type of game he plays he has a very low number ,of injuries. Where do you get this garbage?</div></div>
I don't know why you're so offended. Look at the market this year. Horvat, Kane, ROR, Gavrikov, Chychrun, Tarasenko, Meier are all reportedly on the block and will all get at least a 1st. Then you got guys like Toews, Gostisbhere, Monahan who are ufas are having great seasons. How many 1sts do you think get traded every deadline? Which one of those guys would Bertuzzi get a 1st over? If Bert was a ufa the 2 years prior yeah he probably gets a 1st but theres just too many players this year.

don't hate it. Don't think we'd have to give more than the 1st (maybe a lower quality prospect with it), but I don't hate it. If we add to the defence I can't think of many players I'd prefer to get.

Lets try this again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>This idea that the Leafs are going to trade Holl needs to end. He's been their most used defensemen the past 2 games with Rielly out. The team trusts him with bigger minutes than Giordano or the young guys like Liljegren. He may be this years Gardiner/Ceci/Barrie/Hainsey/I'm sure I'm missing a few names with fans choosing him to hate among the defensemen but he's not going anywhere.</div></div>
I agree, he's likely best used as the 3 RD or in a perfect world as the #7 but he's definitely a good player in a reduced role and doesn't kill you if he plays more.

Moving eller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>There have never been any reports the Leafs are shopping Kerfoot or anything. It's time for the obsession this place has with it to end. There have been reports on the type of money on the table now for Sandin both from the Leafs and his counter offers and they all come in at or under the $1,400,000 mark Liljegren got which makes a Kerfoot move wholly unnecessary. If someone if being moved for Sandin its going to be Holl which frankly makes sense given the logjam on defense and Sandin's worry about his role.
Beyond Kerfoot not making any sense to move, reports are also coming in now of players who will likely start the year on LTIR which kicks this entire problem down the road. You don't trade players when you are going to need them to start out.</div></div>
It's really never made sense to me why the Leafs would move Kerfoot.

This is at absolute best an average right side and all three guys are over 30 and UFA's within 2 years - Holl and Schenn after this season - not great. Putting all your future eggs in one basket with Niemela is ridiculous. Hoglander has not proven to be a top 6 guy and there's no point in getting him to be a backup plan at the cost of a player who fills a current and future need. The swap does not make sense. Let it go.

Byrr here is the Leafs cap situation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LeafsFanForSomeReason</b></div><div>Yeah, I mean, you're right; that is what the Leafs are working with next year. CapFriendly has taken that into account, just not by subtracting it from the Salary Cap section, but rather by adding it to the sum of the other listed cap hits. Basically what Byrr said, just with less hostility.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>and I've shown you the manner in which CapFriendly displays that. The 20 contracts the Leafs have signed next season equal out to $82,268,116. I showed you the math. The cap hit for this team is $82,480,616. That is calculated by taking the total value of the contracts and adding the overage penalty rather than subtracting it from the cap ceiling. 82,268,116 + 212,500 = 82,480,616. Your cap hit.</div></div>
Well fukc me, I’m wrong <a href="/users/Byrr" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Byrr</a> I did not know that CapFriendly did this.

For gods sakes... complain about bad management a few times and suddenly hes the bad guy. Funny how so many in this fanbase seem to forget they were loving thus guy and complaining about management not too long ago. Also funny how they ignore these players saying he is a good guy because it doesn't fit their narrative.
