If you watch him, he is very strong in his own zone and rarely makes an error.
If you read the Leaf posts they also want to blame Marner for the Leaf's failure in the playoffs even after garnering a team high 14 pts in the post season.
If Buffalo could sign him @ $3,250,000 he would certainly help shepherd Power for the next 3 years.
@Tjm220 IMO Jost was a great pick up.
He not only found his game but made the players around him better.
$2,000,000 was an over pay as he was put on waivers.
He may sign a bit below market value after spending a year under Granato, just as Thompson, Cozens and Samuelsson did.

It’s funny you consider giving Tyson Jost $1.5 million over paying him when he is currently making over $2 million. His qualifying offer is $2.2 million and I expect the Sabres to qualify him because he earned it. Might he be willing to sign a multiyear deal at $1.75 million? Maybe. But I’m not risking losing his rights by not giving him that qualifying offer.

Kozak is probably a carerr AHL'er.
Power does need a partner....that is Adams's mission
But him and Joker weren't bad...so i won't be mad if KA does nothing.

Fun Off-Season
I do not like that Boston trade at all. McAvoy is the only intriguing thing about it but the money isn’t right especially if your also adding Karlsson at 8 mil for 4 more seasons. Not interested in trading Cozens or Samuelsson. Given their age and importance to this team moving forward I doubt the Sabres are interested in trading either of them too. Again Karlsson is a fun idea but not if the Sharks aren’t taking on half that contract. Gotta remember they have to pay Dahlin and Power after next season. Another thing on Cozens he’s way better than Domi and Debrusk. He needs to get better defensively and I think he will next season when he’s not playing with two rookies and hopefully in front of better goalies. I have zero interest in either Reaves or Kane. Reaves does nothing well but fight so no thanks. And Kane is 35 and wants to go to a SC contender and we aren’t there yet. He’s also been on record that he doesn’t have any interest in playing here. Graves is fine. ERod probably has no interest in coming back here.

trading the pick

Quoting: BrodeurBro30

Buffalo needs to address the RD position, whether through trade or the draft. You could always trade up, but it’s going to cost a pretty penny to do so.
I think
To BUF: Pick #28, Timothy Liljegren
To TOR: Pick #13, Henri Jokiharju, fourth line player
I think this is the better trade. Toronto addresses depth needs and moves up. Buffalo gets the Top 4 defensemen that they need in order to compete.

Jokiharju is a roster player. Pick 28 and Liljegren get you pick 13, not pick 13, a roster player and a fourth. And I think that this trade evaluates Lijegren as a #2 RhD (which some may argue is generous), because if he's only a #3 RhD, Buffalo has that already and shouldn't be making this trade at all.

Yes Guentzel is a scoring machine no doubt about it, he is also Crosby's wing man over 80% of the time.
Kulich is nearly 10 years younger than Jake and just set a record for the most AHL goals in one season by a teenager.
He has a goal in 4 straight Calder cup games and the Amerks have won every game in which he dressed.
I am sure some one will give up a first and an "A" prospect for him but it will not be the Sabres as Juri appears to have a 30 goal/year NHL future as well.

Victor is very under rated.
Only 23 forwards scored faster than his 1.6 goals/60, and only 55 forwards scored more than his 28 goals.
Last time I checked there were 32 NHL teams with 3 players on each top line for a total of 96 top line forwards.
"adding Olofsson to their 3rd line makes it a more like a 2nd line. Marchment-Johnston-Olofsson is pretty dynamic"
He will find an open space no matter who are his line mates as he scored a goal in each of the last two games of the season with Girgensons and Okposo as his line mates.

Nope on the Sabres trade. Great player, but the cost is too much for the Sabres to acquire him and too much salary to take on.

I know willander is rocketing up the rankings, I don't know much except hes 6'2", right handed, plays physical, and played 30 min a night getting heavy minutes for the national team, and was leaned on more than aps. I think simashev is bigger, left handed and committed to the khl for two more years. Sounds more like zadorov to me, but he's generally rated higher than willander the mocks I've seen. I almost wanna go willander just because lefties are just more available, and therefore righties are more valuable.plus we need a good righty at some point.

Tanev is a good stop-gap who may sign for another year to an affordable contract and he's from Toronto. He'd work well until Reinbacher slides in on his entry level deal in a year or two

I've seen mocks with reinbacher going as high as 5. If that's the case, hopefully one of simashev or willander is available at 13. I don't think we would move up to get them.

Good idea for moving up to Washington's spot, they still get a great player at 13 and they add a 25-30 goal winger for cheap. Tanev would be a good target, but don't think Calgary moves him for that sort of package. I'd rather just sign Mayfield and keep those assets. Joki can be our 3rd pair RHD and Lyubushkin the press-box manager
