The main/only reason Huberdeau is "on the block" is to make salary room for Panarin and Bob. Bringing Saad and his salary back negates the reason for moving Huberdeau.

I believe Duclair will still be a RFA with CBJ. Also you're over the cap and do not have a full roster

CBJ-NYR TDL
I doubt CBJ wants another UFA, in this case two, and be in the same position as they are with Panarin, and then on top of that have to pay a 1st round if Panarin leaves, OR either of the other two sign with CBJ. Having NYR retain salary doesnt do anything for CBJ so that isnt a benefit in this case. This is a very bad deal for CBJ and heavily favors NYR, especially given this likely hood Panarin wants to play in New York, but still not 100% and it is unknown if Hayes and Zuccarello want to sign in Columbus.

Seems like a good return for CBJ, how does Tampa sign both Point and Panarin?

While I think this is good value for Wennberg now...it is low if he returns to form, possibly a risk worth CBJ taking. Interesting.

Not sure I agree that Stone is better than Panarin. Yes Wennberg is in a major slump but the belief is that this could be a side effect of 2 concussions last year and that he will return to form.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>agillette1</b></div><div>Fair, but NYR gets the most for facilitating, they're losing Hayes where the asking price is 1st+prospect and could use the Defensive help now (Kuhn/Pelech). I think you have to look at CBJ getting a guy who can carry a line back in the deal, if he re-signed, where they could just lose Panarin for nothing anyway.</div></div>
I look at it like this..look at what NYR got for Rick Nash last year. Panarin is 6-7 years younger, more dynamic, more willing to sign with the Islanders, in the division. Obviously I am biased but I think Jackets could get way more.

NYR giving up the least and getting the most.
CBJ not getting enough for Panarin, they have a fair amount of Goalie prospects and would prefer a now goalie.
I dont think this really works.

Can you protect an already protected pick? The OTT pick was a conditional pick between last draft and this draft...I am not sure you can put condition on an already conditional pick.

Panarin Trade
I saw a trade you proposed earlier in the week that included Beauvillier.
1. Between Beauvillier and Bellows who has the higher ceiling?
2. Which would be more likely to play center in the NHL?
3. If CBJ added Milano, are NYI interested, what else might that bring back? 2020 1st?
So Panarin, Milano for Bellows, Aho, Ho-Sang, 2020 1st, 2019 2nd (1st if Panarin re-signs)?

Rumored to be why he and CBJ are not seeing eye to eye

This is not really a comment about the trade.
Marner's agent is the same as Josh Anderson's. It will be interesting to see how contract negotiations go for Marner, especially given what is going in with Nylander.

A BIG NO from the Jackets.
1. Jones is a 23 year old, right handed, highly skilled D.
2. Jones is on a very team friendly contract.
3. The 1st included is an unknown, maybe it is a lottery pick, maybe it is in the bottom half. 2020 is too far away to risk even if the trade was fair.
If it is a D going back, maybe it is Johnson or Savard and a CBJ pick. I think Brassard is a good player and would love to have him back in a Jackets sweater, but he is no where close to Jones in return.

Any Day Now...
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>At this point, COL might be better off keeping him to start the season and seeing how he does. He's got 2 years left on his deal, so its not like their going to lose him after this year.</div></div>
This is where I disagree. A huge part of the reason teams are hesitant to make a move on Duchene is because he is an UFA in two years. Giving up that much youth and futures is a lot for a player that could be with a team for only 2 years. A possible lockout in 2-3 years doesn't help either. Not many teams who are going to contend this year, will have 6M in caps space or will be willing to give up a top 4 D if they are going to make that push. Now the end of this upcoming season, with the apparent and public issues between the team and Duchene, I cannot see him signing with the Avs with the hopes that a sign and trade happens. If he is not traded, animosity continues and he walks in free agency. Either way the sooner the Avs trade him the sooner they can start a rebuild, delaying the trade delays the rebuild.
