I'm one of the few that's fine with him staying, going off the reports that JBB talked to him about a trade... This was one team I saw mentioned since they only have 3 D signed at the moment... Once they sign Hobson, he would pair well with McD

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nashless</b></div><div>Of course they do!!! From contender to dwindling hotbeds MIN, CAR and VAN.?</div></div>
LOL I get it, these are fringe teams at best, and they MOST LIKELY say no, but this is to show that it is possible to sign EK at what people think he'll sign at. As other comments on here have said, it limits the Lightning's ability to move pieces, but it can be done. Could have traded to other contenders to make it work, but who's to say MIN/VAN/CAR aren't a few years from being where my team (TBL) are now... Each have young guys capable of getting there

As it stands with how you proposed, the bolts have no flexibility to maneuver for injuries, call-ups, suspensions etc in the season. So its possible, but not functional for an organization.</div></div>
I've seen people on here say he won't go for less than what Doughty took, but we don't know his thinking. If he wants to play w/ Heddy and have a good shot at the cup, he may take a discount but may want the bonuses. I think if he does make it to UFA and Tampa is his choice as rumored, I could see 9-9.5

True, he definitely makes it out of camp with what he put together after getting called up. He could easily get 1 mil or higher when it's time

Does this make sense?
Any trade by Tampa for EK doesn't include Ryan (even though here he gets flipped)... Plus We end up trading BOTH Serg, and Foote (I'd have to assume here that Yzerman would be willing to part with one, not both) and Yzerman wouldn't trade for Patches (we have plenty of depth at forward)

I only ask because the Flames just but Brett Kulak on waivers, I find it hard to believe that he will clear so it may open up a bottom pairing spot for a veteran guy to groom Andersson.</div></div>
He's very serviceable, although he did disappear in the playoffs. He was great during the season, but he's definitely bottom 6 and a good locker room guy.

It would be one or the other, not both. Y would have to do too much work to get EK, AND remain competitive. I feel Parayko is a solid option if EK can't work out (which most likely not). This is how I see it going if it doesn't.

Tampa isn’t giving up both Sergachev and Foote. You can have one or the other... Why would I give up 2 great young players when I can wait a year for EK. No deal.

Fixing the D...fense... Fixing the Defense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jayjenkins</b></div><div>De Haan's contract is realistic for going through FA and I feel that it is good value, however, why would you sign him and force Sergachev to be 7th D? He spent time on the 2nd powerplay for most of the year and even some time on the first. Signing De Haan doesn't make sense.
Also, Tanev, while coveted by many, is an injury liability and is not as elite as many people think. If you really want him you could give up Johnson straight up. You wouldn't have to include Koekkoek and a 3rd.
While I agree with getting rid of Coburn, I disagree with the Girardi move. He was brought in to be a defensive, shutdown guy and he has done that and then some. He's great at blocking shots and provides depth in bottom pairing. Stralman is paired with Hedman so that leaves Dotchin (I agree he will be on next year's roster) and Girardi to pair with McDonaugh.
You claim to be "Fixing the Defense" but it doesn't look broken to me.</div></div>
I choose De Haan because I feel like a rotation of De Haan and Tanev is better than Coburn and Girardi... Serg also played on the right side last year, so really I feel like Dotch is the 7th. The bigger reason I moved both Coburn and Girardi is the amount of cap space left to resign Gourde, Kuch, Point and Vasy. That's what I was trying to create here was the cap space to resign the import pieces for next season

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wolsen92</b></div><div>Signing Johnny T will pretty much Handcuff you in the Salary even more, signing him will pretty much mean the departures of Point and Kuch, and idk if most of those trades go through, the Barrie one is brutal, COL values him to much and idek if you get Pulijarvi for that heap minus JT who will want a lot.</div></div>
I used Barrie as I briefly caught his name in the mill in FEB... I offered Cally cause I feel they need a vet presence, and gave Thomas up as he's a young D who I see cracking the top 4 in the NHL... If I'm EDM im looking at the possibility of having a body in front of the net for McDavid, and some vet D to help the young guys up there.

TJ is a stud, and that 5 mil is huge... Wonder if it would work if they offered perhaps Cirelli (who I believe will be a stud) or Verhaeghe and Dotch...?
