Thread: KEEP DADDY
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Haula is brutal plus we have Suter, Nylander, Kurashev, Highmore, Hagel all who will be fighting for a bottom 6 role.

Caggs on the top line is a joke and a bad one. That top line without Saad goes to crap unless he's replaced.

If Crow costs $5M, which I highly doubt going on 36 at the start of next season, we should walk away. $4.5M maybe, $4M yes.

Minor adjustment, but Kampf is the 4C not Carps; Kampf is better at faceoffs and faster as a two way guy which is why he plays C.

I'd keep Maatta over De Haan give his cheaper contract, buyout option and he's younger (just turned 26) so has upside. De Haan is as good as he is going to get, is slower, and not great in the faster transition game or defensive man game the Hawks play</div></div>

Suter no lie I completely forgot about, so yes him for sure. Haula is a 40-50pt player when healthy according to this numbers, so I'm going to disagree on that one.

As far as Crow goes, I disagree a 5m is a walkaway. Man is a consistent starter, put up a .917,.929,.909 in his last 3 seasons, despite the abysmal defense that is the Hawks. If he's still feeling up to talking the starting role and mentoring Delia, he is very much worth 5m on a 2 year contract, especially when a goalie like Holtby is going to ask and likely get 6m.

As far as Caggs goes, this year when the top line ran Toews, Cagguila, Kubalik they produced 10 EV points. Toews, Saad, Kubalik produced 9 EV points. Even Strength, they were very close in total time together. <a href="https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/frozenpool_linecombo.php?select=F&amp;forward=CHI%3A325%3AJONATHAN%3ATOEWS&amp;games=2019-2020%3AR%3A99&amp;period=ALL&amp;situation=EV" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/frozenpool_linecombo.php?select=F&amp;forward=CHI%3A325%3AJONATHAN%3ATOEWS&amp;games=2019-2020%3AR%3A99&amp;period=ALL&amp;situation=EV</a>. It's not ideal, but dropping Saad gives us money to replace him, Caggs offers a reasonable replacement, and if you chose not to sign Galchenyuk(who you don't need with Suter) you have more money to allocate elsewhere.

Kampf and Carpenter very fair. They can definitely switch.

As far as Maatta or DeHaan, yes Maatta is younger and has more upside, but that's why we're focusing on a buyout here. DeHaan is not quite as easy to buy out, and defensively he's much more solid than Maatta is. Not that I forgot how good Maatta looked this playoffs, but lets not forget how bad he looked during the regular season.

Edit: Maybe find a 4th rounder for Maatta in a trade?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>I can absolutely say that the ANA trade doesn't have value, and that is because ANA is in no need for players that they'd need to contend now. They're a rebuilding team and Zegras is the biggest and most important part of this rebuild. Orlov is a valuable asset to a team that is ready to contend now. Also the expansion draft brings an issue as well, since acquiring Orlov would mean that they'd be forced to move Manson because otherwise Seattle would take him for free. Hagelin brings pretty much nothing to their table that they don't have, they're stacked with bottom-6 wingers already. Alexeyev is the only interesting piece for them considering the status the team is currently in, but they absolutely wouldn't move Zegras for him.

As for the COL trade, it's not about the team, it's about the player. Panik is overpaid and his current contract runs way too long. Under the tight cap era no one is interested to take that contract in. Every single team in this league would have better use for that $3M of cap space over taking another bottom-6 forward to their team - unless they get compensated for it. Panik himself will get you absolutely nothing.

Barrie's likely to sign a one-year bridge. He's not signing a long-term contract with a salary cut after scoring 98 points in last two seasons combined, which is a respectable amount for a defenseman.
If he isn't getting a bigger, let's say $6,5-8M contract now due to covid effects, he'll likely take a one-year 5x1 bridge deal to prove that he's still an useful player.

As for the other signings - Krug absolutely won't take a 4 year deal. He'd be what, 34 when that deal expires at which point he's not going to get a big contract anymore. Taking that short of a deal is just a wasted opportunity and financially not beneficial for the guy. He'll get a 7,5x6 or 7x7 deal somewhere else. His market value is pretty high after yet another successful season.

The Gustafsson contract has probably the right amount of money, but the term is ridiculous. The guy is a 28-year old TOP4 UFA D-man heading to free agency after a poor campaign, just like Barrie. I don't see the point for him to sign for so low when he could easily make a better money after taking a one-year deal to prove himself.

The Namestnikov deal is also a bit cheap in terms of money, but the term is quite realistic.</div></div>
