Leddy and Raanta

CGY shouldn't pay that price for Leddy. That's a 1st round pick + a first rounder (Lazar) + a 2nd rounder (Kylington).....Kylington has more upside than Lazar, likely, and that package, even adjusted to current value for Lazar and Kylington is still a 1st and two 2nd round picks. Not worth it for CGY, and apparently not enough for NYI.</div></div>
This is perfect. Considering we've now got a NYI fan saying its not enough (home team typically overvalues their players) and a CGY fan saying its too much (typically does the same), I'd say the value is pretty realistic. This would be a package similar to what CGY gave up for Hamilton (1st and 2 2nds) which I would be prepared to do, especially for a Defenseman of Leddy's calibre locked in for 5 years. I think NYI's desperation and need to move a contract could make this trade viable. Hamonic's contract is much better, so I could see them keeping him around. I'm sure NYI would rather move Boychuck but Leddy is more moveable. I could see CGY sweetening the pot a bit, but overall, the 1st rounder, plus Kylington, plus Lazar thrown in, seems like a fair deal to me for a Top-2 defenseman from a team in salary cap trouble. I think these comments prove that.

I like it. I'd rather pay Vegas to take Brouwer though, chances are they might take Stajan anyways.

2K17 roster
If that's how much it would cost to get Ovechkin, I wouldn't do it. I'm thinking something along the lines of Brouwer, Kylington and two firsts, or Brouwer, Bennett, a 1st and a 3rd.

Why would you trade a 3rd rounder plus for Backlund (huge underpayment) then trade him for a 4th?

It'd have to be a little much to get it done. But it's probably the most that I'd want to give up for him.

Drouin, Grubauer and Shattenkirk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NateElder12</b></div><div>Overpay for Grub. Why don't you just pay Vegas to get him? Trade them Shinkaruk and a pick or two or maybe trade them Bennett straight up once they select him instead of giving WSH help haha. Also, Shatty is bad.</div></div>
McDonald is CGY's 4th best goalie prospect right now and is really just taking away playing time from their other prospects, so from Calgary's POV, it ends up being a 2nd and a 4th for Grubauer (RFA) and Shattenkirk (UFA). Seems pretty fair to me. Trading Bennett straight up for Grubauer is laughable.

Drouin, Grubauer and Shattenkirk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stammerman</b></div><div>If the Lighning trade Drouin it will be for a top 3 d-man like a Jake Muzzin or Jonus Brodin. On top of that if he signs for 4 years at 4.2M the Lightning would sign him for that in a hurry.</div></div>
I left a lot of room (2.8M in cap) to offer a larger contract to Drouin. If it comes down to it and CGY does like they did with Hamilton and threatens to submit an offer sheet, TB likely wouldn't be able to match, since they still need to re-sign Johnson, Palat, up to 6 others to fill out the roster, all while saving room for Kucherov's upcoming extension. I'm thinking it's more likely that Drouin is traded for futures and picks, because trading him for a top-3 d-man who will be making top-3 money is going to further cloud their cap troubles.

Alex O to Calgary
There's no way Treliving does this trade. That's a huge package for a guy who has clearly been declining and makes huge money long term. CGY shouldn't offer anything more than a 1st, 2nd, a prospect and Brouwer to make up for the salary coming in. Anything more than that and it's not worth it. I'd rather see them make a pitch for Rick Nash.
Also Backlund isn't getting traded, and if he was, it would be for a 1st, prospect +

Ovechkin and Grubauer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vanderm</b></div><div>You're way, way undervaluing what type of deal would entice WSH to move Ovechkin.
At a minimum, Klimchuk would need to be replaced with Bennett. And McDonald would need to be replaced with Gillies. Even then, WSH has a very difficult time saying yes because of how important #8 is to their fan base.</div></div>
I agree WAS wouldn't do this deal. That being said, I wouldn't want to give up much more than this to get him. A guy making that much for the next 4 years on the wrong side of 30 isn't worth Bennett, a top goalie prospect and picks.

Rick Nash and Raanta
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vanderm</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Barathrum_Obama</b></div><div>Rangers don't need a G prospect. think this would work as a sign and trade with Stone though</div></div>
That would fill a real need for NYR, but then NYR would want the deal to be after the expansion draft, right? Also costs CGY an extra 5th Round Pick (for re-signing Stone), but that'd still be fair IMO if NYR would retain the amount you noted on Nash.
Nash and Raanta would be solid adds for CGY.
Don't think you're correct about CGY including Lazar with Brouwer for Vegas unless there were other players involved coming back to CGY. And in those cases, it would likely conflict with the Raanta add you've proposed (because the player coming back would very likely be a goalie).</div></div>
The way I look at it, the best case scenario for Lazar is a middle-of-the-pack top-6 or top-9 forward, and I think the value that we gave away to get him, a 2nd round pick, was fair. I'm thinking a second round pick, or a guy who Vegas would likely take that we would normally protect, would be what it would cost for them to take Brouwer. I like the idea of the Stone sign and trade but I don't know if the NYR would want his salary. I'm looking at Nash as more of a salary dump for the rangers than trading an actual asset.
