Hopeful Leafs Fan TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CameronLeafs</b></div><div>Yeah im really not sure about the values. I know buffalo wanted a 1st but probably aren't going to get one. I just assumed a 2nd + 2 bottom 6 guys would be close, but I realize Hallander would probably have to replace Brooks to make this considerable for Buffalo.
I know we dont need Hall, but Tampa didnt need Goodrow or Coleman last year, they overloaded up front and truly went all in. I would personally love that.
I read that Iafallo will probably get moved if they dont agree to an extension by the TDL, and they might move him knowing that he will return in the offseason.
Also I know Oleksiak is unlikely because Dallas probably wants to push for a playoff spot with seguin coming back.</div></div>
I want Hall to be a leaf as much as the next guy, but I don't think they're in it at this point. Especially after Foligno, Rittich and Nash

Cameron puts it well above (except I think he's underselling Huberdeau) but I also want to point out I'd be nervous spending big to get ekblad (cost being Marner here) given the concussions. I know Cameron above mentioned injuries just emphasizing.

They want players with term to build around their young core. I doubt they give up prospects for rentals when they're are not really a serious cup contender yet. Who knows, if they're leading the division in Feb I could see it, but as an offseason move I don't think COL entertains it at all.
I think Kreider and Shattenkirk have a lot of value, just not with Colorado</div></div>
Good thing I'm not a gm lol.
Regardless I think Kreider and Colorado are connect at the hip. The issue is that Sack man has clearly demonstrated that hes not going to overpay.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CameronLeafs</b></div><div>just curious, you think Kravtsov gets 2nd line minutes and Lias Andersson misses out on the lineup completely? Not a Rangers fan and don't really follow the team. Just curious how Andersson isn't good enough for the 4th line but Kravtsov is more than good enough. I realize he has been shaky in his first 2 seasons, but wouldn't you expect a few more games in year 3? maybe 65+?</div></div>
Great question. Kravtsov is one of the top rated prospect right now and has much better chance to evolve into a bonafide top 6 RW/C. Andersson would be in a fourth line role for that reason. 7 8 min a night. So instead he gets sent down to AHL as a top line center where he has a chance to properly develop. Andersson was not nearly NHL-ready as originally advertised. Also the Rangers are putting and emphasis on improving the Hartford Wolfpack and Lias could be part of that solution ala Tampa/Detroit

Can Leafs match
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Matthews just got 11.6 while only buying out one year of ufa. His 8 year demand was 13.8.
That</div></div>
Yes... and who has scored more even strength goals than Matthews since he’s joined the league?
I’m sorry to anyone this may offend but I like that Matthews contract. He had a blank cheque. That is a guy who if he were not signed in season would have a 13m+ offersheet thrown at him. A team would give up 4 1sts.

Marner not going anywhere
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CameronLeafs</b></div><div>if the leafs were going to pay him 10 million over 3 years the deal would also likely be done by now. Without buying UFA years, Marner's contract decreases in value significantly. While I think 7.5 is low, 8 x 3 is realistic imo.
You have to realize the leafs know marners camp set his value through talking with the media. Without the media hype, and marners dad and agent saying 11 million, people would be saying if the leafs are only getting 3 years, that 8 million is far too much.
The thing is, 4 years is off the table because he walks right to UFA. 5 years is very very unlikely because then Marner, Matthews and Willy are all UFA's at the same time. that leaves 6, where he would get 10+, or 2 or 3 where the number likely starts with an 8 or very very low 9.</div></div>
I agree i think 10 is too much i was just trying to show that they can make it work with all this offer sheet talk. I think the number on a 3 year deal would START at somewhere around like you said low 9's and Marner's camp will counter with a higher number I would imagine. 3 x 9.2? 2 x 8? who knows what's going to happen.

These are all very good points... my thoughts... Dubas put on his big boy pants and told marner if you want 8 figures it’s for 8 years. Then told him 10 x 8 then let him go to talk to teams as an rfa. Would you look at that... no offersheet. No one is giving marner the contract he wants and giving up 4 1st round picks.

Walk away from Ceci's arb, or if he signs his QO trade him. That would be my best guess.I would match that offer sheet.

Trading Nylander V2.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CameronLeafs</b></div><div>Why move one of the most promising young players in the league for a prime C, when the team is building around Matthews.
I get if the leafs pick up a guy like Thornton for a quick fix, but I don't see how trading Nylander, Marner or Matthews would make the team better for when they're supposed to win (3-5 years).
Tanev has never played a full season in his career, he is massively overrated and I think a first is too much for a guy who is that unreliable. (obviously Van wouldn't take a first, but adding him just creates a hole for half of the season)</div></div>
While I can understand it that it's fair trade, why do the Leafs do it? You know what ROR is, and Nylander is good and still has room for potential. And best it's lateral move for Leafs. A more logical move for the Sabres would be trade ROR to a tam that really need a centre...like Carolina and St Louis.
Cameron to your point. You have to know that so many trades with the Leaf just HAVE TO include Nylander or Marner. It seems folks just think the Leafs are so desperate to fill one hole for another. Yea I agree with your Tanev comment. Another player that seemingly can't be traded to any team but the Leafs.

Back to being Kings by trading with Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CameronLeafs</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rmay50</b></div><div>
Go look at KingsGKG's AGM's there are a few where Doughty goes to someone else. There's two to Boston, one to Calgary, one to Anaheim, one to Edmonton, and I have seen other AGM's where Doughty goes to teams other than the Leafs, just don't specifically remember who they were done by. By the way, when Kings fans trade Doughty to the Leafs on here, it's nothing personal against the Leafs or Leafs fans, it just seems like it would make the most sense for the Kings to trade Doughty to the Leafs if they ever decided to trade him. We all know Matthews, Marner, and Nylander have earned their payday when it comes, and it would be kind of hard to pay 3 guys huge money that people project them to get. That's a good problem to have, 3 young guys who are amazing scorers. We are never trying to argue with you, we just feel that this would be the trade that makes the most sense for the Kings and their future, given that we are Kings fans we obviously would want them to be good.</div></div>
I see where you are coming from, but Doughty would fetch more than Nylander and Marner in 2 years so I don't see that move being particularly cap friendly. I see how Doughty is a generational talent and would help any team he joins immensely, but I don't see how him, or any 27+ year old defenceman would fit the leafs build. If the leafs trade for a top pairing D I hope it would be someone along the lines of Hanifin, Trouba, Provorov, Parayko, Manson or Gostisbehere, someone close to the age of Matthews.
However this forum is just for fun, and even though I think any Doughty trade is unlikely, its still fun to just consider options.</div></div>
Fair enough. I just feel like we are on the wrong foot with leafs fans and I wanted to clear that up
