Definitely too much from Carolina. Even if you think Pacioretty's price is A-prospect, B-prospect and 1st round pick, that would leave us with Darling, Lindholm and Bean for Price, and, while Carolina would benefit from elite goaltending for once, it is definitely too many good pieces for him. Plus, they can't afford to trade Necas. Their center depth is not as bad as ours, but it's in the bottom third in the league.

youth all youth and nothing but the youth
This is the third time I ask: why are you so obsessed with Kossila? He is nothing special and if he is our great hope to fix our center depth, then we're doomed. If Pacio isn't traded for a high-end center prospect then we're screwed.
Pageau is not a native, he was born in Ottawa and I would not give up that much for a bottom-six center.
Petry drives the play and moves the puck, Russel doesn't. If you haven't noticed, this is where half our problems comes from this year, the inability of our defence to efficiently move the puck. Going from Petry to Russel is suicidal.
I don't know if that's enough for Burakovski.

Van, De, Del, O' are not names though. They are proposition in different languages (Dutch, Italian and Irish Gaelic I think). A better title would have been "Players with three-word names".
One star for me!
Just kidding ?

Ducks/Habs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garitjax</b></div><div>Ducks fans had the same opinion when Ryan was being shopped. Our return didn't have one. Not saying thats wrong to ask for. But if its better return then the other teams are offering you might see the leas than ideal return. I'm of the opinion that we can't move Steel but he is certainly a fair ask. That being said I havent reallt been following the Patches situation and potential suitors. What Center would you expect to get for Patches that makes sense? All evidence points to him being traded so which center or LD is he brining back? Im not saying he won't get a good center prospect, just curious what Habs fans actually think they'll get.</div></div>
If he doesn't bring in one of Vilardi, Steel or Thomas, or some other young center prospect I'm forgetting, I'm honestly gonna be disappointed. He is the best asset we have to plug the biggest hole in our organization. If we trade him for someone who isn't a center, even if the return looks close to fair, it would be a disaster to me. It would mean being stuck in the same hole for the foreseeable future, as the only way to acquire a center would be to draft one. This draft however doesn't have a high-end center. Next on might, but by the time he is ready, Price and Weber will have started to decline and our cap situation might be messed up.
If Pacioretty isn't traded for a young centerman, might as well blow everything up and tank for 2-3 seasons.

Two Trades. Are they fair?
I would do it if there's was no retention on Shaw. It isn't a lot but having dead money for four more years means you're playing with a cap that is $1M lower than everyone else for four more years. I'd rather receive some other cup dump in return.

It's Sam Steel or no deal.

I think that's too much for Backlund. I've read he is looking for a $5.5Mx6 type of deal to stay im Calgary. A $6Mx6 from the Habs should be enough. Also, what happened to Alzner?

PLD Trade
The overvaluing of prospects and young players on this board is kind of ridiculous.
Galchenyuk in his draft+1 year played with the Habs and had 0.53 PPG. Dubois could't even crack the roster and now, in his draft+2 year, he is at 0.45 PPG. This is not to say Dubois is gonna be worse player than Galchenyuk (I think he's gonna be a lot better actually), but with a lot of potential comes a lot of uncertainty and a lot of risk. He could stop progressing and become a third-line center, he could be another Sam Reinhart, Alex Galchenyuk type of player or one day become a true number one center. The reason this is not enough is because of Columbus's needs, not because the value of the two players "isn't even close".

Teams will overpay, but not by THAT much. You might get a first for Nash, but not a first and a top prospect. Same for Grabner.
Plus, this is quickly becoming a sellers market and if the supply is so high and the alternatives that many, prices are tonna fall

I asked in another thread, but you haven't answered. Why are you so obsessed with Kossila? He's an undrafted prospect who has played only one NHL at 24 years of age. MB should ask for Steel if conversations with the Ducks start.

Rebuilds should only happen under new GM's(lets avoid another Cammaleri debacle)
The second and third trades are incredibly bad for the Habs. Petry is literally the only puck moving D we have who can play in the top four, while Russel is as mobile as an anchor. I don't understand why some Habs fans are so eager to trade him. The only reason he should be moved is if we are committed to a total rebuild.
Taking on Seabrook's contract would be suicide for our team's long-term cap flexibility. Paying to do so is simply lunacy.

No to the first trade. We need Top-6 centers, not a 3rd liner. Paying two, cost-controlled wingers to get him is too much.

Fixing Winger Depth Key to Playoffs

Draft position doesn't really matter once you're drafted. Otherwise Ritchie would still be more valuable than Steel. What really matters is how much a prospect has progressed after he was drafted and Kyrou has developped more than Jones. Just look at their point total in the OHL or in international tournaments. Kyrou definitely has a higher ceiling.

If you have the chance to get OEL, you dump anyone not named Barzal or Tavares (even at a loss) to do it.
