Only way Freddie moves
So Carolina has three goalies, wants to trade one, and you think they trade for, wait for it, another goalie 😂. Nope, if they trade Reimer it’s for bottom 6 depth or a RD.

Cool but we aren’t flipping our first. We keep pesce and get better with him not by selling him off.

Roster after trades with CAR ARI MIN
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nwithseidelin</b></div><div>I changed the original trade (Johnsson to MIN for a 2nd) to Johnsson being traded to CBJ for a 3rd. I feel that is more accurate and CBJ is a more likely buyer on him. The Carolina trade is strictly a pending UFA swap. If CAR cannot sign him they will want to get an asset in return instead of letting him walk. They need a long-term goalie solution and Andersen may solve that.</div></div>
Even as a rental Hamilton brings in more. At least a 1st and a prospect.

CAR NYR light on goaltending
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Russell_C</b></div><div>#1 Goaltender ( for one year), #1 RD Prospect, #1 C Prospect, #15OA pick in 2020, that's a fair bit if you look at the prospects and consider the depth of the 2020 draft</div></div>
That's all great if we were a rebuilding team,
Giving up Dougie for something that does not help us now is not an option, It's taking steps in the wrong Direction.

Creative Goalie Trade and adding a RHD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CanesTings</b></div><div>Someone explain to me why Carolina wouldn’t just get a goalie in FA and not give a top 5 defenseman (who they will re-sign) away for free...</div></div>
Because Toronto players are actually worth double value. You didn't know?

New day new Matthews deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheOtherAuston</b></div><div>I highly doubt it tbh that gm might refuse it but the owner would make it happen, only 3 mill in actual salary for a #1 goalie and a lesser Rd replacement.</div></div>
It’s an easy no. Not trading a decent RD signed long term at reasonable cost for a mediocre starting goalie that is a rental and barely an upgrade over what they have already. C’mon. 🙄. If the can’t re-up Hamilton they are Jets 2.0. Went from so loaded at RD they could not give Trouba top 6 minutes to barren. Canes would be in same boat. It’s bad business. Especially in a goalie rich market.

Canes can just get the better Lehner and keep Pesce. Win-win.

Canes have defence to fill Pesce's spot and have prospects. Leafs aren't just gonna throw Andersen away. It'd be either Pesce or likely the 13th pick back</div></div>
Still pass. The move adds something we already have, inconsistent goalies. Takes away the one thing we don’t have, long term righty.

Some Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>Not saying it's even, but Canes fans really need to get off the high praise for Pesce. He's coming off a season in which all his numbers (normal and analytics) took a pretty good hit, plus he ended the season on the IR with a pretty serious shoulder injury. He doesn't have all the value Canes fans think just because he's a right handed d-man that Toronto happened to inquire about.
Don't believe me? ... a player coming off a down year and ending it on IR after a serious injury.. Andreas Johnsson. & everyone says his value is down because of it.
In reality, Pesce for Andersen, a mid level prospect and a mid round pick makes a lot of sense for both sides</div></div>
Canes keep him without blinking. Moving Pesce without a positive difference maker makes zero sense for the Canes
