Have you tried walking your second best player to free agency and then watching as your best player says he's not going to sign long term and basically forces you to trade him and watch as he makes the Stanley Cup final?

Burns only makes 5.3 against the cap because San Jose is retaining. Plus, Burns just had a 60 point season. This isn't nearly enough for him

Allen is a backup at best. Both Freddie and Raanta are better and would not be that much more expensive and don't cost assets. No need to do this

Not enough here for Necas. Not value wise, but the only roster piece here is Roslovic. Bean already failed to crack the Carolina roster and he's coming off a ligament tear. The 2 1sts are nice, but not enticing enough here to make a move

Canes pass. Not convinced I'd do Necas for Nylander one for one. Production favors Nylander, but Necas is WAY cheaper, and is an RFA on expiry where Nylander is a UFA.
That's also a really awful offer sheet. Overpay for 1 year to gets the guys rights. Don't offer a fair 4 year deal, the team will match it

Isn't a pure goal scorer, and while he's not at all bad defensively, being nominated for the Selke means nothing. It's for guys that don't crap themselves in their own end who score a ton. Otherwise it would go to Barkov, Bergeron, Stone almost every year

Bratt for Necas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>you've went from 2 years to 1 year, to 7 months, and all 3 are wrong
Jesper bratt is 24 years and 305 days old.
necas is 24 years and 136 days old.
169 days, or 5 months and some days.
Less than half a year gap. THEY ARE THE SAME AGE.
If necas was a true center he'd have taken the 2C role considering his competition for that spot is a clear 3C in jesperi kotkaniemi.
Faster=/= better. Especially when jesper bratt is also a top tier skater.
Jesper bratt is the BETTER player.</div></div>
July to late January is 7 months.
Bratt is a worse skater, has minimally better production playing with better players, is older, and Necas will make ~ 4 million less. Necas is the MORE VALUABLE player. Deal with it

Not with that Marner trade. Not trading roster pieces for someone that doesn't fix the goal scoring issues. Marner is a pass 1st guy, doesn't change anything, not worth core pieces.
I actually don't mind the Lindholm trade, but I doubt it happens because Calgary's center depth isn't great as it is

Necas is only 5 months younger at an age where players plateau, plays the same position (both wingers), and is a clearly worse player. 1 single year of cap savings, which the devils DO NOT NEED, doesn't move that needle</div></div>
Necas is 7 months younger, plays center and it clearly as good who is faster. Drop the Devils bias here

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Bratt has great speed.
Basic stats show bratt as better. (more points goals, and significantly more even strength production)
Basic analytics show bratt as better (better on ice xgoals%, as well as the devils being better with <a href="https://moneypuck.com/player.htm?p=8479407" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">better with bratt on the ice</a> and carolina being better <a href="https://moneypuck.com/player.htm?p=8480039" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">with necas off the ice</a>)
The advanced analytics say it isn't even close, with bratt having seasons of 20 and 24 xGAR, (7.6 combined xWar), and necas last 2 seasons of -3.4 and 8.6 xGAR (0.9 combined WAR).</div></div>
Bratt has great speed, Necas is the fastest skater in the NHL.

Except he played C this year. AND CapFriendly lists him as a part-time center because of it.

That's high for Tarasenko. I'm expecting 5.5 x 3 because of his injury history. He's only 31 so you're not committing long term and his down year brings the number down. You can slot Drury in anyway, I think he probably fills in for Stastny at 4C. Graves then becomes the long term Skjei replacement and it moves seamlessly forward

Necas is a year younger. Necas plays C. Necas hits the fastest top speed of any player in the NHL. Necas had 2 less points and Bratt plays on a team with Jack Hughes. I know you're smarter than that. C'mon

Necas plays C, Bratt is a year older, he turns 25 in July, Necas turned 24 in Feburary. Necas has game breaking speed that Bratt doesn't. He's the better player here, don't try and argue Necas is a downgrade because that just shown you're clueless lmao

You can’t use a 8 game sample to say he played center in the NHL. please look stuff up before saying it. Necas is not a center in the NHL. Not saying he won’t become one but you can’t say he has the value of a center based on 8 games.</div></div>
I knew it was only 8 games, but that is enough to say he played C in the NHL. Not to mention, he did it when the team was covid affected to great effect last year. He's done it several times this year. He doesn't show there on the lineup card, but he played a significant amount of time down the middle. Please look stuff up before saying it.
If you want to ask where, go look at Moneypuck's lines, Necas played C this year a fair bit
