<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Waffelz</b></div><div>Plus/Minus is one of the worst stats to track in Hockey, and is incredibly misleading. Is your team good? Your +/- is gonna be great. Does your team suck? Your +/- is gonna suck. Johnny Gaudreau was a +64 on the Flames last year, and is going to finish around -35 this year. Is he a dramatically worse player suddenly, or has the quality of players around him suddenly changed?</div></div>
I can make the same argument for points. Do you play on a good team and you don't get to play in an elevated role? Your production is going to take a hit. Do you get top PP time on a dumpster fire? You're going to have inflated stats
Anyway, so if you want to ignore +/- explain why his xGA is one of the worst on the Sharks roster? Why is he below replacement level in his own end? He is outscoring his xGF for good measure

Very much in favor of firing Chatfield into the sun, but a lot of these line combinations and free agent adds make little to no sense.
Barbashev at 5 Mil makes no sense when Killorn and Domi will be available. Kulikov at 3.25 when Graves will be available for maybe a million more? Clifton I like, but there are prospects that can fill that role.
On top of that, the free agent omissions. Jordan Staal? You bring Fast back (to play on his off wing, which he cannot do!) but leave out the teams captain?
Freddie comes back despite his health issues and mediocre stats, not only that, but with a RAISE?
You play Svechnikov on his weaker wing and opt to play Teravainen on his weaker wing? You have the teams top producer and arguably best raw talent on the 2nd line? You leave Stefan Noesen (who is scoring at a roughly 40 point pace by the way) out of the lineup?
This is real bad.

I invite you to put this down and come back in a little while once you've started to have good ideas run through you. JT Miller AT HIS FULL 8 MILLION CAP HIT NO LESS is not returning anywhere near that. Without retention, I'd argue the picks and prospects are going the wrong way

What the hell is that Detroit trade? Nikishin >>>> Edvisson. The caveat is that Edvisson would be available sooner so let's call that a wash in terms of value. So you're giving up Jarvis and a 1st for Berggren?

That's true, but you're a lot more likely to sign the dude whose childhood friend was just acquired at the deadline than a guy that still has a fondness for the NHL's version of the Virgin Islands.

Jake has broken the 60 point mark 3 times and the 40 goal mark twice. Furthermore since you want to be completely disingenuous in Jake's last 5 seasons -
318 games, 153 goals and 322 points.
In Bo's
345 games, 135 goals, and 268 points.
Bo wasn't going to shoot 22% all season and definitely not the rest of his contract.</div></div>
I don't care what Bo had done over the last 5 seasons. At the time of the trade, Horvat was on pace for 50 goals. That is what Lou traded for, a 50 goal scorer. Since you want to include his entire career stats, Paul Stastny for Guentzel and a 1st is a lot farer... c'mon man

That's a little much for a Taylor Hall that has struggled with injuries his entire career, is having a down year, and is on the wrong side of 30. At this price, I think it's a quick pass.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>You know his QO after giving him 8.4 mil would be insanely high right?</div></div>
Everyone said that about Kotkaniemi too. "Oh Kotkaniemi will be a UFA because they won't qualify him". The entire point of negotiating with an RFA is to know roughly what ball park they will want an extension in the area of before tendering the offer sheet. Then you know what you are getting from this deal.

Draft day move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PenGoater99</b></div><div>The best part about this is that you think he's playing at a 50 goals pace, which he isn't. Beauvillier has been playing better than him since the trade.
And by your own logic, Guentzel should be worth more because A) he's actually been better than Horvat this year (better even-strength scorer and better PPG pace), and B) you're getting him for a full season.
Ignoring that is beyond ignorance.</div></div>
Horvat has been worlds better than Beauvillier. Trying to argue that just shows me you need to go find another sport. Horvat has become a genuine 2 way force on the Island. His scoring has dropped off, but New York is infamously where offense goes to die. Using counting stats to try and justify this take is ignorance beyond belief. Using your logic, we should just ignore Guentzel's entire career because he's played next to Crosby. How braindead are you?

Yes, let's just ignore the year he got traded in. That makes complete sense.
If we ignore a players best year, Guentzel has only broken the 60 point mark once! It doesn't make sense to ignore a players best year when using comparable trades. Horvat wasn't worth what he went for, but he's worth more than Guentzel.

Guentzel has played at a 30+ goal pace for the past 5 years and has 2 40 goal seasons.
And you're getting Guentzel for a whole year.
Braindead take.</div></div>
I don't care if he's done it before, you pay for what he's doing this year. Horvat is not worth a 1st, Raty and Beauvillier in any sane world. But he got it because of his production this year. Ignoring that is beyond ignorance.
