<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aussie_Blackhawk</b></div><div>I like Byram, but I don't think he would be as efficient in our lineup and system. Its all about fits for these young players coming in. I would have really liked to see Dach not get rushed but it happened and now we have to be patient as he finds his game in the NHL and builds into that 1-2C we are craving as Toews gets older.</div></div>
I wouldn’t give up on Dach just yet, yeah they rushed him but kid has oodles of talent. He’s just getting ready to turn 21 and he has a unique talent set that he is going to grow into and be a load to handle. I think to often teams expect those top 10 guys to come in and dominate immediately and for some they just need to finish maturing and figure it out.

we read the title, but cant fan bases have a general conversation about the concept of the trade
just bc it says unrealistic doesnt mean people cant comment on the actual trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Here's the catch 22 with that though. If you trade his rights, that just allows a different team to take him to arbitration. Suter won't like that AND agents/Euro prospects see that stuff. Then look at it from DETs pov. Why is Stevie Y going to give up an asset for someone he can have for free. I understand that CHI could have got a pick, but thats at the risk of the Euro pipeline continuing. The Hawks need that pipeline more than a minor pick imo.
The Hawks have The Best track record of Euro talent getting big deals over any other NHL organization.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>Yep. Our european pipeline reputation is more important than a 3rd round pick</div></div>
It’s kinda funny seeing “reputation” and “Blackhawks” being used in a positive way these days. As for the hawks and euro pipeline, we may have a good record of getting them over here, but we also know how to waste them as well. The hawks are just a stepping stone for euro players, not a final destination of success and longevity.

Draisaitl and Chychrun for next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nqutilus</b></div><div>I think it might get you Chychrun, so either way it's not too far off.
As for Draisaitl, you'll have to give up a considerable amount of prospects and THEN multiple first round picks, in addition to a solid roster player, in order to acquire him.</div></div>
So what you are saying is Draisaitl is untradeable, because nobody in the history of hockey has gotten that kind of return…and never will.

Every cup winner basically has vezina level goaltending in net and that is just not going to Koskinen when the defense Corp doesn’t have a prime Norris Keith machine.</div></div>
Tbh trading Drai probably isn't the answer but the Oilers will need to make a change somewhere. You don't win a cup with Smith/Koskinen in net

What I would do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>That's a fair assessment. I can't you for that. The Hawks do have a significatn cap advantage over other teams in the upcoming years though. It might not be the worst time to get REALLY good UFAs. Toews/Kane will be $21M. Kane may not take a pay cut, but then again...he might. Such that the Hawks can put a competitive team together. If we can shed TJ and Connolly to BUF... I'd be willing to pay a hefty price. Then a guys like Forsberg or Hertl or you pick it. Can be had. Toews will be the best #3C in practically the history of the NHL for his next contract. Wins faceoffs. His defensive skills are still there. We need a #1C...true.</div></div>
Need a 1C and a 1LD. Two things that are not easy to come by. If flower coms back for year we have a goalie but if not we need that too. Just too many holes to patch together imo

Whats Kanes value
It'll be 50% retained. And it should be quality for quality. Kaapo Kakko is the natural piece going back. He's a RW. Kane will easily be the NYR best RW and KK will get less developed because he'll get less ice time and KK won't ever get put into pressure situations once Kane's there. That's the starting point imo.

Ottawa will want an incentive of some kind to do this trade.
Forsberg has been solid for us lately.

Intriguing offer towards Turbo, but de Haan really can’t be the second piece unless there is retention on one of them, preferably DeCat. De Haan is decent, but the canes don’t really have the cap space for him, let alone the roster spot. At best he plays and rotates with Cole, but at worst he is sent to the AHL or is just a healthy scratch.
How about a counter offer of Turbo and a 2024 first round pick for DeBrincat with say, 50% retention and a 2023 2nd round pick, and DeBrincat comes with a favorable team friendly long term extension in place when his contract runs out. If you include de Haan in this trade, he will need to have some retention as well just to make cap work. If need be, we could go to a third party broker team who would be willing to help with retention. A team like Seattle, Arizona, or Buffalo might be willing to help out for the right price.
As I see it, to pry Turbo back out of Carolina, it will require a drastic overpay. Turbo is one of top guys, plays amazingly on the power play and the kill, plus has amazing chemistry with Aho and the rest of the team. He is an elite playmaker who has a lethal shot when he wants to shoot, but I am sure you already know that. With your proposed trade, you are asking the Canes to take on 10mil in cap while sending out about 5mil. The cap won’t work like that, so retention would have to be included.

CHI Questions Dec21
1. Yes he should move to right wing but the coaches won't do it. They see him as the future 1C of this team
2. I'll answer the contracts question based on the assumptions we don't trade any of those guys. Toews probably looks like 5 mil x 3 and Kane like 8.5 x 3 if they sign unique contracts, but I could see them signing identical ones again (maybe like 6.5 x 3 each). Kubalik at this point should only get his QO in my opinion. Debrincat Probably in the 8-9 mil range on the full 8 years. The hawks will have to move out money to do all this, probably by a Connely buyout and Johnson trade.
3. All those guys should be staying in the AHL imo. Reichel is ready for the NHL but should still stay down till next year. Hawks have a history of rushing guys to the NHL just to watch them dissapoint and then trade them for pennies on the dollar two years later (think Teravinen or Boqvist). I don't want this to be repeated.
4. Murphy and Mccabe were both just signed or extended, and I would expect them to be here for the forseable future.
5. Full tank should not mean trading Debrincat. I think the hawks believe they have most of their next core in Debrincat, Jones, Dach, and the way Reichel has looked I would even throw his name in to this conversation. I would expect the hawks to move forward building around those guys. Things become a lot easier if we can land one of Wright/Michkov/Bedard but I don't expect us to ever be bad enough for that to happen.

This isn’t really the package I would want for Kane TBH. A couple of underperforming guys, a solid but not guaranteed hit prospect, and a late first for two seasons of Patrick Kane at 5,250?
There is absolutely a lot of value in this package, but I think bundling them together diminishes that value from the hawks point of view.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Josh</b></div><div>If Kane is getting traded, there's more than enough value.
This isn't prime Kane being untouchable, so you have to overpay to get him.</div></div>
After bringing Calder, Pearson, Hart, Conn Smythe, Art Ross trophies, three Stanley Cups to Chicago....yeah, I don't think its enough.
He is one of the legends of the game.
But that all assumes there would be an open market bidding war for him. There won't be. He would pick where he wants to go.

I think Laf's trade value is a bit higher than some of the trades listed on ACGM. I also think the Rangers are much more willing to move him than many Ranger fans believe.
