UFA and Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newballcoach</b></div><div>Kuempfer for one. Kessel for another. Stepan, Hjalmarsson, Goligoski and Demers are others. Lots of salary for them to move out if they want to, they don't HAVE to move out OEL.
And this trade does not help them save money at all. They are retaining for the next 8 years (which nobody is going to do) and taking one a lot of your dead money. That's not what they are looking for. I get you're a Canucks fan, but let's be objective here.
I also think you've made it extremely difficult to re-sign Hughes and Petterson next year, which should be top priority for Vancouver rather than overpaying more UFA's this year.</div></div>
Buddy Louie Eriksson is not "dead money" 6M cap hit next two year but is really only owed 4 million combined in real dollars. GMs look at that stuff man.

Buying him out could honestly be a better option. Though it will cost you 5 mill the first year it is only 3 mil the second and like 600k for like 2 more years. I dunno just a thought.</div></div>
is it really a lot? Lind is in AHL..... and is stuck behind Boeser, Toffoli, and Anderson in this ACGM... might as well deal him...... Woo is expendable with Joulevi, Rathbone, Rafftery in system ahead of him. this is the cost to take Sven, and Louie contract. in order to remain competitive for years to come this move has to be made.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riley816</b></div><div>It's time for Ottawa to stop trading for picks. Buying out Eriksson and Baertschi cost, after Van pays Eriksson's bonus, 3.666667 mil over 4 years and Baertschi 1.6 over 2 years. Minus whatever Ottawa has to pay towards Gaborik. Saves Van over 8 mil, 7.5 if they bury Baertschi. Get prospects.
If they sign Markstrom get DiPietro.
If they sign Tanev get Rathbone.
Get Kole Lind.
There's your deal: Eriksson, Baertschi, DiPietro, Kind and Rathbone for Hawryluk and Gaborik.
Nets out to Toffoli, Tanev, Markstrom, their 2021 1st and Hawryluk to Van. They can even sign back Eriksson after he's bought out....</div></div>

And minny.... they are getting a solid 4/5 defecneman in Stecher. a young centre who will play in their top six in couple seasons, and a potential top 6 RW with 20 plus goal potential in Virtanan..... don't think I'm that far off imo

That would leave only $6m to add 7 players. Difficult but doable I suppose, unless Hughes doesn't want the bridge deal.</div></div>

Eriksson is only owed 3 million next two years in real money, and king won't be contenders for at least three years. its a free first round pick
