<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CapFriendlysFinest</b></div><div>Understand what you're saying. My point was the UFA pool this year isn't great and the UFA LHDs are likely going to demand a huge amount of dollars between different teams. There is a good chance the Ducks don't get one of those guys for the top 4 on the left hand side. This deal takes the pressure off the ducks, more so if they sign him to an extension as I view him as the best LHD from anyone in the UFA. He plays well until all the kids are ready to take over in a couple of years and then Flower or him can drop down.</div></div>
I get that, but the acquisition cost, especially for only one guaranteed year, is far too high for where we are. As has been mentioned, if there isn't a UFA option avaliable, there are cap strapped teams that we can take advantage of, like how we got Kulikov last season. The player we bring in won't be Hanafins caliber if we go that route, but we will still have Luneau and our 2 2nds.
Money this season is not a problem if the UFAs demand AAV, and Hanafin is going to be due a large raise as well, so we're only saving money this season. We can also outbid LA for Gavrikov who has already gotten to experience Southern California.
A team might give up 3 2nds for Hanafin, but it's a team in win now mode and needs a sub 5 million top 4 D. We might give up a Boston 2nd that we have and that's about it.
Besides, top 4 RHD is the big organizational need.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CapFriendlysFinest</b></div><div>Totally understand with how good the Ducks prospect pool is and especially on that LHD. My thoughts was going into this season, there is a massive hole there and I think Gibson might kill someone if he doesn't get more help. I think Soucy could be that guy for the ducks for sure, but a lot of other teams want him and he might not sign. I totally get your side however, just play it out without giving up assets until the kids are ready.</div></div>
I think this offseason the Ducks are gonna be in a good position. There’s a lot of teams in cap trouble and Ducks can take advantage of trading for some veteran defensemen at a low cost because of teams needing cap relief. Even if not, there’s a decent amount of veteran LHD who could look to settle down in Newport Beach towards the end of their tenure.

Ducks pass. Luneau isn’t available for a UFA. I like Hanifin but he doesn’t make any sense for ANA. UFA LHD that cost too many assets to acquire. He won’t sign long term.

A legit team altering trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CapFriendlysFinest</b></div><div>Totally fair assessment, I likely believe the trade I have put fourth is too little for the Flyers. I feel like Voit is a piece that would likely need to go back with the 1st to get the flyers interested. Coming off a 105 point season and finishing second in scoring in the OHL,</div></div>
Fair enough, Im just not sure the BOS 1st and Voit (who's looking good, but is still just a upper midlevel prospect) gets it done. Farabee is 23 and just skimming the surface on a bad team (look at the injuries to PHI's top 6 forwards the past two years and its easy to see why they cant score).
And PHI also has high forward prospects in foertser, brink, gautheir, etc... in pipeline with frost, cates, alison, tippett, farabee all on the team under the age of 24, which lessens what Voit is worth to THEM.

More reason why we need glass. We dont have alot of high potential Centers. Im still hoping glass can find another gear but even as 2/3c thats a need for us and he is still young. Not a bad proposal overall though we just really need centers

I think Trotz wants to go younger and get rid of some bad contracts, Moving johansen will probably be pretty tough. Hence Duchene should bring back some value for them. At least that was what Elliotte Friedman had mentioned awhile back.

Gonna have to pass. One year of Nylander isn’t worth moving Saros and our future 2/3C. Even with an extension, we have enough RHW in the system.
It’d be ideal to ask for young roster players in a return for Saros (which Glass already is, and we’re moving him here). Nylander doesn’t fit our window.

you have an opinion...that's great...doesn't make you correct. Doesn't make you wrong either. Critical thinking is great...just because you use it doesn't make your argument any more or less accurate.
I'm sure there are many who would rather have a 100pt winger at $11m vs a 70pt winger for $8m. Not everyone..but some.

Fleury plans to keep playing
Marc-Andre Fleury, who mopped up with six saves after replacing Filip Gustavsson to start the third, made it clear after the game he “for sure” plans to play out the final year of his contract. He has one year left at $3.5 million and doesn’t plan to retire. “I’ve still got one more year and it might be it,” Fleury said. “It is too bad. We have a good bunch of guys, great chemistry and a good team. We had good depth. I really believed we were going to go deeper here in the playoffs. It’s a little bit stunning.”
The only reason the 38-year-old’s future was a question is that he started only one game in the playoffs and told The Athletic last summer that he signed for two years because he wouldn’t want to move his family again after this season — but that he would be willing to play ball with the Wild and retire if he showed this season he couldn’t play up to his standards.
Fleury won 24 games and is seven from tying Patrick Roy for the second-most regular-season wins (551) in NHL history.
Asked how he dealt with starting just once in the playoffs as opposed to five games last postseason, Fleury said, referring to a Game 2, 7-3 loss, “It was hard because I wasn’t happy with the game I played. Maybe it wasn’t the best as a team, but I didn’t help either. I wasn’t good. Other than that, only one guy can play and Gus has been good and consistent all season long. That’s fine. That’s fine with me. I tried to encourage the guys, I tried to encourage Gus, support him.”

I think Hartman may be a good TDL candidate if we're out of a playoff spot, but we can't deal him this summer for anything short of an overpay. We're just too center-starved and broke.

3 things would have to happen for Columbus to make this trade.
A) Nylander would need to come with an extension, Nylander doesn’t make a cup contender next season.
B) Columbus has to be sure that Carlsson and Johnson can be top 6 NHL centers because if they aren’t why would be losing their best and only back up option if either of those 2 bust. If either one of them bust it would just prolong their rebuild.
C) they have to think the Sillinger isn’t going to be anything more then a middle 6 center destined for the 3rd line and 2nd line in a pinch.
Imo I don’t think Nylander signs an extension in Columbus and I don’t think Columbus has given up on Sillinger, so I wouldn’t make this trade if I were Jamro, I would judge that Columbus isn’t ready for adding rentals and the future of Sillinger will mean more then the one season that Nylander would be in Columbus for.

While the value is fair for the jackets the last thing they need is to get rid of a promising young center for a rental winger.

Other than the fact that I would give Graves 5 seasons instead of 4 if we can't address the RhD issue that my friend <a href="/users/GiggyWithGibby" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@GiggyWithGibby</a> highlights, I like all of your significant moves here. I mean, REALLY like.
Where we differ is the third defense pairing. (Big deal.) Personally, I'd qualify Benoit and keep LaCombe up unless we make the contemplated Vaakanainen-for-Forbort swap. And I think that it's time to start auditioning Hellesen and Andersson.

I <strong>WANT</strong> Graves on this team, I just don't want to give him term. 1RD is the bigger, longer term issue that we need to address first.
I'd prefer to send Dostal and Fantilli to San Diego with all the new talent arriving down there from the minors this season, let them win a Calder cup together and then come up for the 24-25 season. Most of them will be playing together up on the big team anyway, so they will be able to build chemistry while they are there, and hopefully that winning atmosphere jump starts a few of our stalled prospects down there.

Canes definitely pass. Jarvis is off limits. Ottawa shot themselves in the foot when they underpaid to bring DeBrincat in (1st, 2nd, and 3rd for 1 year of DeBrincat with RFA expiry, 9mil QO). Now that he has no contract, with a 9mil QO, after a down year, you might get a return investment, but anything more is an overpayment. Probably looking at a Fiala return, where you get a 1st and a decent prospect. Canes 23 1st, 24 3rd, and Heimosalmi for DeBrincat’s RFA rights would be my counteroffer.

Even this isn't cap compliant I suppose the question is whether the Canes think having a DeBrincat getting 25 points more points than Jarvis is worth the big difference in cap....maybe 5m starting next season, and the picks.

Boston not waiting 2 years for picks that will take another 3 years to develop.
You’ll need to go with a prospect or 2 in the org already.
Most likely Greig and a secondary piece. The 2nd piece could be a pick in a future draft.
