Trade ideas for kuznetsov? Comments
I feel that Kuzy to the Leafs would be amazing to their left side depth/center (and obviously would thrive playing beside Matthews or Marner), but there would be a couple of players taking huge pay cuts.

Rentals are players like Hanzal, Vermette, Veteran players, young decent players. Not superstars.
Ok well for one, if the Leafs want Duchene then they will have to get rid of either Nylander or Marner or Kapanen. Because they have a great amount of depth at C and RW, plus they won't afford all of them. IMO Nylander goes because Marner is a heck of a lot better and Kapanen is a little bit worse than Nylander but because of that, they are able to retain other RW's like Brown and Soshnikov and Kapanen will be cheaper than Nylander so he wouldn't fit.
If we are just trading value for value and nothing else (as well if the Leafs even want to make the trade) then it should look something like this:
Duchene for Nylander and another decent LHD D or another B- prospect or a couple 3rds or something around that.

Plus as of right now Colorado has an atrocious defence that needs major improvements and Gardiner can provide that as he is getting better and is loved by the analytics crowd.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canadian_Rednek</b></div><div><i>Honestly Corrado is more of a place holder. Pick any cheap right handed defender to put in his place it doesn't matter.
And 10M in goalies it to take unwanted contracts and who cares because they can afford it., plus Howard's contract runs out before they need to resign Marner, Matthews, Kapanen, etc.
And based on needs and availability what's wrong with Duchene for Gardiner and a second? Both players are rentals and Duchene is a better player IMO and would fit very nicely with Nylander and Marner.
And if you think my post are crap then explain why. I'm never opposed to learning more or educated debates. Don't just state opinions as facts and not back them up. I love hockey and the Leafs and just because I may have different opinions doesn't make them any worse than your own.</i></div></div> Uhh what?

Getting MULTIPLE Assets in return for CORE players.
Yeah any trade that includes McD would be a steal no matter what is offered (except Crosby).
And yeah Stone is good and all but he's not great. Hoffman on the other hand, is a great player. Also, the Sens would be getting a top 2 LHD to play with Swedish teammate EK.

Duchene

Specially since Montreal's picks will be late first rounder. Take of David deharnais.</i></div></div>I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I think gallagher is a valuable asset on a friendly contract for many more years. I wouldn't be comfortable offering more than I did for Duchene. Yes the pick is a late 1st rounder, but if you look at some of montreal's top prospects (juulson, McCarron, Scherbak, etc.) they're all late 1st round picks.
Just seems to me like colorado needs a change. They seem like they have center depth, but RW looks thin especially with iginla leaving. They save $2.25 million a year with gallagher vs duchene, gallagher is a top 6 winger and duchene a 1st line C. The 1st round pick will be a piece for the future and desharnais might even be able to produce like a top 6 C for colorado, he did it for years in Montreal. If not, like F50marco says he's a UFA after this season.</i></div></div> As good as Gally is in Montreal, I think Duchene is worth more than that. Plus he's a versatile player playing on a bad team.

Duchene
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div><i>What is the big deal with DD being added to the trade? (Not saying MTL can't add to this trade but why take out DD) Its not because we're adding him for value for you. We're doing it because we can't take Duchene's cap without losing some cap. Whats the big difference to Colorado this year?
DD is a UFA at seasons end. He's gone in literally 4 months.
Colorado is not making the playoffs.
DD although no stud, can at least play and score some points and add depth if needed. If not bury him, send him home, Straight up feed him to the fishes if you want him taking any spots or stopping another players development.
The season is nearly half way through so his actual salary isn't 3.5M anymore. (In case you actually cared about the money aspect that has no baring on your team from a fan's perspective)
So who cares? Colorado has dead space right now. They aren't going to reach the cap ceiling with this trade and they aren't going to use that extra cap space this year anyway. They are making a small extra sacrifice in order to make a trade. Big whoop. Who cares?</i></div></div> Probably their management.
