Jets Blow It Up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CapsJets</b></div><div>I initially thought that too, but there seems to be a market for them! Which I'm happy about lol</div></div>
Is there are market for them? Or is just reporters trying to relevant and churn up trade talk so they can keep their jobs? The Jets ownership probably doesn't want to go into full tank mode until season ticket holders have renewed for 23/24.. I'm with you, I hope the Jets get a good return for these players and kinda start anew in 24/25....with cap and some new blood.
Right now, the Jets are "competing" with UFAs. So team might want to complete their rosters with UFAs, instead giving assets to the Jets. Closer to TDL, there isn't the UFA competition and the cap for hight priced players is lower for teams to fill their roster

Agreed. After Trouba rescinded his trade request, he and his agent played ball by being quiet about his plans. It never leaked out that Trouba had a list of one team where he would sign an extension, which enabled Cheveldayoff to get the best return he could from NYR. I remember a report which mentioned Jim Rutherford (PIT at the time) said that he offered a much better package for Trouba, implying he didn't know of the one team list (otherwise the offer would have been lower).

Probably don't have as good of a roster player as Carlo to add but I assume Lapierre + the next two firsts + Eller + something else. Would definitely be more of a rebuild than a retool package but its three premium future assets instead of one

Everyone Wants Out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CapsJets</b></div><div>Coming from a non oiler fan, I completely agree. I feel like the Oilers need to let their young guys develop. If you have McDavid / Draisaitl down the middle, you will have success (Crosby / Malkin example, build around them with young, cheaper pieces)
But like I mentioned in my explanation, I think the Oilers were a legit (or even average goalie... sorry Smith) goalie away from making a deeper run. Getting an arguably top 5 player at his position in Helle might push them over the top, and you give up anything to win a cup in sports now days. So maybe players like Holloway, or Pulijarvi become available</div></div>
Yeah I could see adding JP in there before I would want Holloway in there. In addition we could add a goalie prospect Olivier Rodrigue (not sure what WPG has for goalies in their prospect pipeline). But a tandem between Helle and Skinner would be unreal. I would do that anyday.

I think you can get more for PLD & Helley.
Canes trade is very interesting - not sure how likely WPG is on retaining 2x4 but I guess in your scenario they're entering a full rebuild. I actually would do that deal the more I think about it. My preference would be to get a younger goal scorer but Wheeler is still a very effective PPGish player and would be a good replacement for Nino if he left. 2 years remaining fits as well with when Canes will need some extra space for raises to guys like Aho, Pesce, Jarvis, Turbo.
Not sure if he'd want to come to CAR but I think he only has 5 team trade protection and I would imagine he wouldn't mind coming here to chase a cup.

I know I have bias here, but I don't think the value is even remotely close</div></div>
i have no bias here and theres no way wpg takes 1 for 1 value downgrades across the board here.
jarvis ++ for connor
pesce ++ for Morrissey
even lowry has decent value i feel its more than a goalie prospect and a 3rd.

Gibson Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>Thats probably a bit too much for trocheck both in term and aav -- with the savings you probably scrape enough to sign a vet d to the minimum if alexeyev and johansen flop.
For the gibson trade, his stats have been bad, not average, for the past three years, and those stats remain bad when accounting for the strength of the team in front of him. That would be the absolute absolute maximum I would give up for him, and would want the ducks to either take back hagelin or downgrade the prospect from Iorio to Johnson/Leason/Protas level at least.
That said, this would be a really nice team</div></div>
You and I are on the same wave length on everything you said.
I signed Trocheck for that much because I didn't want to see the comments "Trocheck gets more". With the scrapes, a vet d to league minimum would be great.
So funny you say that: For Gibson trade, I tried to take out biasness (and also didn't want to hear the "not enough" for Gibson - despite that, still got a comment like that lol). I wouldn't give ANYTHING more than what I would above. I thought about taking Iorio out and putting Leason but opted not to (to avoid bias). Also thought about making the pick a conditional 2nd (if Caps make the Cup finals and Gibson plays 10+ games, turns to a first).
But overall, your thoughts were exactly mine as well.

Draft 2022
Slafkovský at 2 is far away from being a no-brainer.
Not sure how I feel about Korchinski at 10, especially with Nazar, Lekkerimäki and Yurov still on the board.
If there's a team not picking a LHD in the 1st round, it's Buffalo. They have, as you said, Power and Dahlin there. Add to that Samuelsson and Johnson and I can't see them picking Pickering.
Mešár at 36 is far too low.
