Ottawa trade

I didn't make the trade and I never said it was good.. you said that pick required McD or Drai.. I said McD or Drai would require both top picks and more.. I literially just pulled a reverse on you.. OTT isn't trading the picks and EDM isnt trading the best players in the NHL..

Laffy and Sergachev offer sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sebybbq</b></div><div>I am sorry to break your Bubble but Sergachev isn’t a number 1 defenseman. He sure have a great potential, but haven’t played a primary role yet. He have a good offensive potential but have not been use in Defensive mission that much in Tampa Bay. He was just over 20 min this year in ice time and that was a huge increase from the prior years. There is no guarantee that he can flourish into a 25 min solid 2 way defenseman since he never been use in that role at the moment. I get your point here that Sergachev would be a interesting pick for Detroit but if they get him it will probably be via trade. The first round pick is way to much valuable.</div></div>
He isn't currently a #1, but anyone with foresight should be able to see that he'll become one. Thats my opinion anyway

Romanov Hype
I just hope that MB doesn't try to give him a tight leash. He needs ice time to develop. He's going to make mistakes and that's ok. Everyone makes mistakes. You can see his hockey IQ and vision when he plays, but playing the #7 Dman last two years getting 13 min ATOI isn't a good thing. Give him the ice time he needs to develop...even if that means Laval to start the season. He's got the talent. Develop him the right way now that he's signed.

CBJ Savard or ARI Demers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainFlynnt</b></div><div>So Savard is off the table. I didnt think he would be a camp dump, wasnt sure what his cost would be. Demers is less valuable in my opinion, and ARI is in a worse way with the salary cap so he is more logical fit.
Demers and Raanta for say Lindgren + another prospect frees up ~$6.6M for ARI to resign Hall or sign another big UFA. Does ARI do it?</div></div>
Savard isn't a cap dump at all but Jackets fans really overvalue him imo, he has some value sure but he's not worth Domi straight up.
Maybe Arizona does it if they think Hill can be a capable backup to Kuemper, really not sure if they'd want to break up their solid goalie tandem by trading Raanta, there's a lot of capable backups on the free agency market, why wouldn't the Habs just sign one of them, Bergevin loves collecting mid round picks though so maybe he tries something like this.. Lol

Worth A Shot
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainFlynnt</b></div><div>It seems pretty high. Probably too high, realistically he is 23 yrs old and hasn't played an NHL game. He is one of the best players in the KHL but that doesn't always translate to NHL success.
Additionally, is Kaprizov even going to sign with Minnesota?</div></div>
Supposedly he's ready to sign with them. I think (pure speculation) they are trying to find a way around the NHL's last contract mandate about and new signings not being able to play this season if/when it resumes.
MN fans (and reportedly management) are super high on him. He's pretty much in the untouchable category right now. So unless there is an untouchable center offered up I don't see MN parting with him.

Though Ghost/Deangelo comparison is interesting, if just to illustrate how ridiculous Deangelo is lol...Here's Deangelo this year with Ghost's peak in 17-18. Along with their D partners for context.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainFlynnt</b></div><div><a href="/users/F50marco" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@F50marco</a> worth noting this:
"#Habs Romanov's agent Dan Milstein on conference call: "(Romanov)'s coming to Montreal on a one-way ticket... he's coming to Montreal for good." Romanov says he's ready for North American play, whether in AHL or NHL."
- John Lu via twitter
Good to know Romanov is open to playing in the AHL. I hope he blows us away in MTL but if he had to have a stint in MTL playing with all the other future core players it certainly wouldn't be a bad thing for him.
The athletic recently posted an article about how MTL should turn Laval into a proving grounds for their prospects since training camp can be to small of a sample size. I think if Romanov is stuck in the 3rd pairing or something with no PP time in MTL he would be better off playing 1st pairing in Laval with PP time. He will never develop an offensive game if MTL is not prepared to give him a chance in an offensive role.
Edit: Another One
"Yeah I’m ready to play in AHL, I’m ready to play in NHL. I’m ready to play in North America.” - Alexander Romanov.</div></div>
That's great news!
Although I will say this, Russian especially good ones who could be making much more back in Russia, tend to be more finicky than other nationalities. My interpretation of Romanov coming here is that he is coming to play in the NHL. IF he plays in the NHL and proves to himself that he is not ready, I think he'll accept the AHL. BUT if in his mind he has made the team but the MB and CJ feel otherwise, i think we may see some sparks.
If he is willing to go where ever the org feels is best for him, than Im am perfectly happy!

Really depends on what Sergachev wants. If he's looking for like 8 million, I'd rather just keep Romanov. If he was looking long term in the 5-6 Million range, I'd take Sergachev

Nope. He had a down year. Montreal wouldn't be willing to take on the 5 Million dollar buyout for 10+ years to only get a 1st+2nd+3rd.
At worst, Florida retains 50% and get a lot of prospects and picks. Bob is still a Elite level goaltender.

kotkaniemi s value
Perceived value = Hype value. That's not necessarily a bad thing either. Its literally how the world works. We all do it.
Good GM's know when the perceived value has a lot of fluff raising it. The bad GM's are the ones that buy into the hype and pay for the fluffed perceived value. Sometimes you have to if you know its something you have to do but in most cases you avoid paying that fluff because you won't get that value back more times than not.
KK has negative fluff value right now but its not indicative of his real value as a player.

I mean clearly some draft years are better than others. I don't think you can translate one # pick to the next the following year....... Ryan Murray 2nd overall or Alex Barkov 2nd overall? Apples and Oranges.
With that said, everyone loves the shiny new thing that is the pre-drafted players. Wait a year, maybe two. At least one of those top 10 players in this draft is gonna be a dud/not nearly as good as hyped to be. I guarantee it. It just about always happens. Only a few times has every top 10 picks in the draft become a star player.

No NHL player has their story completely written after 2 years. Jumbo Joe got 7 points his rookie year. The perception that JK digressed is an opinion. People can agree or disagree...provide support for and against it. It's an opinion. JK's rookie years was pretty impressive IMO. I don't see MTL trading him away, but I do think it's a fair assessment to it's something MB should keep an eye on.
