I'm watching a lot of 2021 draft prospects and I've found peace with it since their is some amazing C prospects we might like. Aatu Raty, Kent Johnson, Chaz, Lucius, Matthew Beniers, Mason McTavish, Samu Tuomaala, Daniil Lazutin, Cole Sillinger, Zachary L'Heureux, Zachary Bolduc, and my favorite, Djurgarden's William Eklund.</div></div>

Schneider over a C has zero effect on 2021,maybe not even 2022 (and i personally love the pick and am super glad they are no longer drafting positional needs). Strome for 2 years adds value for Rangers as it INCREASES his trade value and allows you to expose him to Seattle (and protect low salary guys like Howden)..so good move there- he will hopefully be 3rd line center by mid season if Chytil steps up... jack johnson will hopefully be a 7 dman scratch if some of the kids or european guys are ready to step up. Not a terrible insurance policy or one year bridge to contenders.

Now if you wanted to go Lafreniere and Chytil for Danault and a 1st we might consider it. The ONLY thing we need up front is a superstar elite talent. If it was before the draft when our only real scoring threats were Drouin, Tatar and Gallagher then yeah you would have had a case but all that leverage is gone now. We have 5 guys who could potentially put up 25-30 goals a year Drouin, Gallagher, Tatar, Anderson and Taffoli Armia, Suzuki and Kotkaniemi could put up another 20 each so our forward group isn't desperate for scoring anymore. The Rangers on the other hand were weak at center before the draft and are still weak at center after a week of FA. Unless you make some other miraculous deal your going to head into the season with the exact same lineup down the middle and going to be wishing you had taken Byfield at the draft by mid season.</div></div>

Stamkos has the same, and more, protection as anyone else on the team with a NTC. The likelihood of him waiving a NMC is none. And as you said yourself, nobody has the cap space to take him on at any team he would consider going to. He's not leaving and I doubt anyone in the organization has the audacity to ask him to waive his NMC.</div></div>
