I agree he was good a few years ago but i didn’t see much when he played this season. If they do sign him, I’d like it to be a 2way deal.

TK is going to make much more than that. If its only going to be 5 years its most likely close to 9mil. He probably lands somewhere around 8x8

I think the Ottawa trade could be close. Maybe if we included one of our goalie prospects too.

Bad contracts for veterans and picks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Black61</b></div><div>Hes making as much as suzuki is. Its moronic to pay that much for a 31 year old with major injury problems and whos coach is questioning his effort enough to healthy scratch him</div></div>
I can’t handle you mouth breathers who react impulsively to every single thing torts does. Again, he was overused early in the season and is worn down after missing almost 2 seasons. Is it a bad contract? Yes. But he’s not a worthless player. He’s still one of the best defensive players and next year Id expect him to contribute more. The scratching had more to do with motivating the team than sending a message to Coots and if you can’t see that you aren’t paying attention. And *spoiler alert* it worked.

Its a albatross deal. It pays him into his late 30s and is already struggling to be more than a 3c. He is being paid as a 1st liner.</div></div>

Coots was scratched for 2 GAMES for the first time in his career because he was overused early in the season and is worn down after missing almost 2 full seasons. Yes he has a lot of term left but he’s not damaged goods. He’s a solid 3c. Not saying the Flyers wouldn’t consider that deal to get out from under that contract, but it was 2 GAMES and people are acting like he’s Ryan Johansen all of a sudden. Not to mention the scratching was mostly motivation for the team. Torts wanted the players to be fired up about it and angry at him. He is digging deep to keep the team motivated through the playoff push.

trading batherson for weegar and finding a capable top 6 replacement
I think the Flyers would be open to a trade based on this. Could see Forsberg or even Boucher involved as well. And I think Zamula is on the table, I could also see Grans, Ginning, Attard, or even Risto involved. Flyers have so many dmen under contract and a lot of prospects who all fill the same role.

As a Flyers fan I would say no to this trade. Even though I am not a fan of Frost at all. I think he has more value in a trade at this moment than he brings to any team. With that said I think the Flyers could do better.

I don’t think there is a limit for buyouts. Its already a self inflicted penalty. There is a limit of 3 salary retention slots.

I guess if they were rebuilding properly that makes sense to get bad players to bottom out but thats clearly not what the flyers are doing. They want to let the kids play.</div></div>

You lost me with Jordan Weal. He wasn’t good enough to play in the league when he was in his prime and now he’s old. Having mild success in other leagues doesn’t mean he has all of a sudden turned a corner. And even if he did, he has no business being the 3c for a rebuilding team.

Thats certainly possibly. Johansen said Torts was tough on him and benched him a few times but I got the impression it wasn’t all bad history.

Two players I havent seen rumors on
Cates’ value is really tough to gauge. He’s having a down year and last years stats are inflated by his usage, but there is definitely a useful skillset as a bottom 6 defensive player and some untapped upside. I could see him being part of a package to get a bigger piece but on his own I can’t see him getting them more than a 2nd or a mid level prospect. As for Atkinson, even while retaining half the Flyers can’t give him away. He is most likely a buyout candidate after the season. Anyone who has seen him play this season aside from the first couple games and a few games in January can see that he is cooked. And any GM considering trading for him will certainly notice that.

You are really overvaluing Perfetti. Especially for a team that wants to win now. And what makes you think Perfetti will sign a team friendly contract? Just because he has some rfa years doesn’t mean he is going to be underpaid.

Clearly your a Jets fan who is not looking objectively at this. Perfetti is a decent player but if he reaches his absolute full potential, he’s still not as good as TK and the Jets are in win now mode. Not to mention when TK’s contract is up, the Jets have a lot of money coming off the books and can resign him.

Thats a terrible idea to get rid of Risto while retaining that much salary for basically no return. They need to weaponize those retention spots; not make it a ball and chain.
