BUFFALO Mantha trade
I don’t see these two teams in a trade like this. Mantha means too much for Detroit and what they will want will be more than what he is valued and more than what buffalo would want to give. Also going to throw In that same division so I don’t think it’s going to happen. It’s probably the equivalent of Detroit trading a future 1st, 2nd, Rasmussen, veleno, and Svechnikov for Eichel. I’m not saying it to be a dick I’m just being bluntly honest and saying the chance of an in division deal like this is unlikely

Mantha has to at least start with someone like KK or Suzuki. Taking on someone they can then flip themselves is a huge risk as he could easily get injured. I could see it as a potential 3 way deal with someone else but it’s not worth the risk of having to flip

2 years of money of seasons that we are not competing for a championship. It’s adding on players for a season and a half to mentor and then shipping them off at the deadline for more picks and prospects. Detroit won’t attract big name free agents until they show they can compete or it’s over paying a player to come here for the $.

Combination of ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>redwingsfan04</b></div><div>I agree that we won't be ready to compete for a while and I like the idea of bringing in some veterans. I don't mind the Islanders trade that much if we could add some prospects or picks. I also wouldn't mind just taking Boychuk and being compensated better-I think Boychuk is still a solid NHL defenceman and would be a good leader.
We could definitely get more from Vancouver. I'll assume that you agree that Eriksson's contract is worth a 1st+3rd/4th or somewhere around that. While Demko has been looked at as a future star, he's not worth quite that much. He's already 24 and hasn't really broken out yet. He definitely could become a starter but he could also never turn into anything. Also, with the future Seattle expansion draft, Vancouver wouldn't be able to protect Demko since Markstrom looks like the goalie of the future. I see Demko worth around a high 2nd, and then add another 2nd to get to similar value to a 1+3/4.</div></div>
So adding another B level prospect from both teams is what you are saying which seems doable

If we take him on he shelters others and helps the left side which we badly need. He may not be a terrible mentor for Cholowski once Nemeth is dealt at the deadline

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>redwingsfan04</b></div><div>I'm wouldn't want to do the Islanders trade because of the salary we would take on. Leddy and Boychuk combine for $11.5 mil for the next 2 years and we wouldn't be adding any pieces to our rebuild. I agree with the idea that we should bring in some guys to shelter our prospects but I think Seider will be NHL ready when next season starts and we could sign some guys in free agency. We could get a lot more from the Vancouver trade. Eriksson's contract is worth either a 1st and a 3rd/4th or Demko and a 2nd imo.</div></div>
I don’t see us being ready to contend until 22 so taking on the contracts and sheltering the kids/bringing in veterans to help them was the goal. I was going to have seider come up as soon as green gets injured (as always) or once he gets dealt at the deadline. During the 21 season we would be able to move the veterans brought in. However come 22 we would have 33 million coming off the books and ready to buy and be ready to make runs.
Warrior is a islanders fan so I waited for there feedback so we could add some more prospects from them. Vancouver I could not see them adding even more since Demko could be a number one goalie

I’d suggest just burry abdelkader in the minors. Could also end up eating half of helms contract and trading for Russell in Edmonton along with pick/prospect. Russell is a stay at home D who plays the right like Daley and could be a good partner for cholo if the plan is him on the third pairing all season. This way lindstrom can go in seider’s #1 ahl role last year that will help him develop

I get bert, Mantha, Larkin, Zadina, and seider are untouchable but if you have a potential at a generational talent you can give up a guy who could be replaced. Wings have others on the right side in seider, lindstrom, and antti tuomisto. Again just saying if scouts say take this generational talent as that’s what this team lacks it’s worth it.

I know I am going to get harped as homer but I’m trying to think as Stevie would. I don’t think he would be willing to move seider after one year with it being his first selection. However I do have another thought. Wings would send Hronek, breggren, and there first for the 1st overall. Breggren is a left handed Swedish victor arvidson who was a 2nd round pick in 2018 who had 5 points in 7 games at world juniors (1 goal 4 assists). Toronto then holds onto its current prospects and can draft someone like rossi at number 4. I’m going to get torched for attempting to be thinking like yzerman

I’ve seen Mantha in such a broad range of amounts that I just stuck it at 7.5 just as an over kill. I gave Erne extra on the bridge as I think yzerman will give him extra for some reason. As far as Johnson I could see it too. I just chose Loui based on the fact we would get Demko back and it’s a western conference team

Because I blashed the lines. They would most likely have a 60/40 split with Bernier starting more.
Erne and fabbri are bridged. Namestnikov was more of a prediction, yzerman knows him and he already has a house in the Detroit area. Other than that green was signed for the deadline all other signings were for the griffins

Why load up on salaries? To be able to get a guy like Demko as a future in net and not have to give up a pick when the team is building through the draft and not ready to compete.

That’s exactly the point. With this team I assumed Ottawa got Laffy and Detroit picks stutzle. After that Detroit picks the top D in 2021 draft. Maybe it’s Hughes by then and they have there prospects come up in Zadina, veleno, Smith, Rasmussen, lindstrom, seider, and maybe stutz if he is ready. After 2021 season team then has Nielsen, and Eriksson off the books to start making moves
