5.5 is fine for a 30 goal scorer. Even a somewhat steal. But for 7 ****ing years for a once 27 goal scorer, wtf. Give him a 2 year bridge. Your telling me that the guy with no leverage got that deal

Demelo would be great but I don’t see how this team is that much better. You got rid of Kapanen for him

Not really sure why Ottawa would be interested in Johnsson given they have Tkachuk-Duclair-Formenton up the LW but if all he costs is our 9th pick of the draft then honestly there’s very little to lose, and we can possibly flip him for a profit at the deadline so I’m fine with it. I don’t know why anyone thinks other teams are going to give the Leafs their best right handed defenseman just because they get offered the 4th best forward though.

Way to go. Jim Rutherford just died from laughter with your trade idea.
To make sure I understand, you want PIT to trade Murray and their best defensive prospect, for a forward prospect who hasn't cracked the NHL in 5 years and has gotten worse in the AHL, and, a 5M a year goalie that we don't need.
If....IF....Toronto were to go after Murray, they'd have to find a 3rd team to take Andersen. Pittsburgh has no need. Pittsburgh would be looking at someone like Kapanen, Johnsson, or Kerfoot and a pick for Murray....and they wouldn't be including POJ.

I think the Lightning ask for more for Cirelli’s rights (they’d get more if he got offer sheeted). He’ll also probably make north of 6mil per year. Sens are fine with that deal. Retained salary is a thing you can include in trades and let the system calculate it btw

Chabot for Marner
Leafs don't make any of these moves... It arguably leaves them worse at several positions, while only really improving on LD, which would then have a logjam (Reilly, Chabot, Muzzin, etc.).

Toronto can add something but what you suggested isnt good. its like if i let my 4 year old click and drag on the screen..</div></div>
Maybe Domi vs Kapanen is more fair than Kulak vs Reilly but Domi vs Kapanen is not a thing MTL would consider, maybe if they add a 2021 1st round pick but still I rather send Domi to the West

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Halla</b></div><div>yeah why would Ottawa want a pair of young 20g/40+pt wingers and a young C that has twice had 40+pts already when they can keep 2nd rd picks that have yielded them absolutely nothing in recent memory.
go back a DECADE and the most successful sens 2nd rd is Shane prince with 128 games...dude is now in the KHL
keep the picks. one of em might be an NHLer one day</div></div>
I don't think Johnsson is a regular 20 goal scorer in the NHL. He had 8 goals in 43 games this year. Also Kerfoot is a good 3C, but the Sens don't need another 3C. They have Tierney and White who are both solid 3Cs, and they have Norris and Brown who could end up in that role depending on how the draft shakes out, though I think both have higher upside than that.
These guys aren't bad players, but they're all guys who are best suited to 3rd line roles. The Sens are composed predominantly of players who are better suited to 3rd line roles. They should absolutely look to use the insane depth of picks/prospects to add at the NHL Level, but they need to add to the top of their lineup, not the middle.

Yeah. I think Ottawa lands their big fish C, whether that's Stutzle, or ideally Byfield, and then they add another elite forward. My best case scenario would be Byfield + Raymond.

Hes a LW that desperately needs to improve his skating. Will he be top 10? Yes, will he be top 5? If a team picks him there I'm certain they will regret it</div></div>
The skillset he has is absolutely elite. His speed is average, but that's something that can be improved. It's certainly not so bad that it should keep anyone from taking him. And his puck skills and hockey sense more than help him make up for the lacking foot speed.
I would rather Raymond, but Perfetti is a fine option at 5th overall. I didn't include Drysdale because I think Ottawa needs another forward 5th, and I think Rossi goes 4th to Detroit.

Yeah I meant to reply to the person mentioning 3+ 5 lol.
Even still, I don't think it's smart for Ottawa to pass on getting Stutzle or Byfield 3rd overall. The Sens need a legitimate 1C if they're ever going to be legitimate contenders. There are wingers available who can give the Sens elite help, they don't desperately need Marner.

Ottawa shouldn't do this. Could add the 1C they desperately need, and another elite forward on top of it. As talented as Marner is, he's just one player. For a rebuilding team, potentially adding Byfield and a Raymond/Perfetti is way better value in my opinion. Even if it's Stutzle and Perfetti.

Askarov at 8
Askarov at 10 is the highest I would say because the higher he goes it's a bit of a risk, plus there are a lot of good forwards in this draft same with defenseman I don't see a Goalie going higher than 10.

Jokiharju was 29 OA. Nylander was 8.
