Just a collection of trades proposed from non-Hawks fans Thoughts
As much as I hate to say it as a leafs fan, a young d-man would probably need to be going the other way for a trade to make sense (baring the leafs losing a guy to injury/trade). Just too many NHL level d-men on the roster.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>It's a gamble, but the Leafs have to believe they can win it all. Problem is that we, at the moment, can keep competing for years to come. Giving up all non roster assets worth anything ruins multiple competitive years in the future. Maybe when the core gets a bit older you can talk about all in, but now is not the time.

Yea if Dubas pays that for Bennet he should be fired on the spot. Definetly an upgrade on kerfoot, but not enough to justify giving away a great young player along with a 1st and a 3rd

I get that its going on in but lets be honest, this would be disastrous for the leafs. This is the kind of move that would get dubas fired if leafs fall short of anything but the cup, and even if they did win it (a big if) the next 5 years would be looking pretty rough.

Thoughts Leafs Fans
As a Leafs fan I would easily take this deal. Kerfoot can be a useful depth player but doesn't do nearly as much as fans think he does. I've always been a fan of JP so I have some bias here, but its also worth noting that this would free up some space (not a lot but management always gets creative with its depth moves) for TOR to make additional depth moves at the deadline. With Jarnkrok on a cheaper deal for the next few years it seems like Kerfoot would walk at the end of the season anyways.

Fiala Trade - Who says no
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mattkenn</b></div><div>1. The main value is in the first round pick that will be TOP 5 vs 16-24 range.
2. Brown is one of the most underrated players in the league. Complete game. Plays in all situation. 20 min/game. Has a RH shot (which Minny lacks) . Has a super reasonable contract. He is worth a late 1st as a rental. Also in a year, Dumba, Kulikov and Talbot are off the hook. Possibility to extand him long term to a more reasonable cap hit than Fiala's.
3. Gus allows minny to ease Wallstedt along in the AHL next year and step in the following year when Talbot is off the hook.
4. The addition of Zaitsev on the right side makes Dumba expandable. He'll be able to eat enough tough minutes to ease Addison into the lineup.</div></div>
Theirs no guarantee that the pick is top 5, and it would be a gamble for minny. But why would Minnesota do it? They want to win now so why downgrade a forward, unless Minny flips the pick but I'm sure they would rather secure a better player in any trade for fiala. Also I'm not sure they would want to take on Zaitsev, say what you want about him he's not a good value player even at 2M at the current cap hit. Gustavsson is a replacement level goalie and I'm sure minny could find a simular player in FA.

What to do with Nylander
I think the whole discussion around Nylander is because he is the only realistic moveable player with a big contract on the roster. Essentially, if a change is needed (if Toronto loses in the first round again) some big move would be expected, and Nylander would have to be on his way out in order for that to happen. Although he is a great player who brings a lot to the team, so I don't think Dubas would see it as an easy decision.

Most Important since Pitlick's been paired with him when MSL took over
5 goals ,14 points and 56.5% Faceoff win rate from Wing supporting evans
Ideal 3rd line and if they find a RW to click with hopefully Ylonen then we are set
No upside in trading one of MSL go to lines
Especially if you're looking to re-sign Pitlick who's for the first time all Season got a regular Center
MSL has relied on them Heavily on PK Unit Especially</div></div>
Not saying that trading him is the way to go just stating what I think his value would be if made available.

It literally is an unfair advantage... Its called player development and its the reason why Matthews didn't put up 60 in his rookie season, or why Crosby didn't win the hart out of the gate. The problem is not me ignoring the statistics, its you misusing them.

Again, let's compare him to Martin Frk:
Frk: 124 games in the NHL, 20 goals, 21 assists = 41 points
Anderson: 57 games in the NHL (roughly half of Frk's time), 8 goals, 5 assists = 13 points (i.e., roughly one third of Frk's production)</div></div>
a third of his production in less than half the games and 5 years younger. Not a fair comparison at all.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Now you're comparing the development times of forwards and defensemen as if they are similar?!?!? That's even worse than saying that the reason why Lemieux and DesLauriers returned only fourths is that they had little potential upside. Third- and fourth-liners don't have their value because they have upside, their value is in what talents they already possess. My point is that Anderson hasn't shown that he has even third-line ability.
You think that Anderson has significant value based on nothing more than a hope and a prayer. GMs don't make decisions on that basis. Remember Mikko Lehtonen? He supposedly had great potential too -- a leading scorer in the KHL, as I recall.
Taking flyers is for guys at the race track, not the hockey rink.</div></div>
Now your comparing the KHL-NHL transition at the AHL-NHL transition. If Deslauriers if an NHLer then why wouldn't Anderson be considered one as well? produced at roughly the same rate in the NHL, DesLauriers spent more than 6 years developing before his NHL debut. Anderson doesn't have the chance to show his ability due to depth in the Leafs Org, but look what he did with consistent time in NJ.

Countless players continue their development well into their careers. Jake Muzzin is one, who spent his first five seasons outside of the NHL and half of his sixth in the AHL. I could find more if you want but my point is that 23 is still a very young age.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Josh Anderson is 23 years old, is therefore in his D+6 season, and has played all of 57 games in the NHL, including only 5 in the last two seasons with Toronto, so the fact that "he has been an NHLer" cuts against him, not for him. He has no particular size, hasn't been an especially prolific scorer in the AHL, and hasn't been able to earn a spot over the much older Wayne Simmonds and Jason Spezza. Compare him to Brendan Lemieux, for whom Los Angeles paid a fourth, and Nic DesLauriers, for whom Anaheim paid a fourth and Minnesota just paid a third, and you should change your mind about Anderson being worth a fourth. My friend palhal is right -- we might give Toronto a seventh for him and send him to Ontario (the one in California), but he's not making our NHL squad, and I doubt he would make anyone else's.</div></div>
23 is still a young age, especially with the development of later draft picks. Anderson is a casualty of offensive depth and the unwillingness to scratch veterans by the Org. If anything, I say your point about DesLauriers and Lemieux work in favour of Anderson's value, as both are low production players and have less potential upside than Anderson.

Don't know why you say it was a disappointing trade acquiring Joey Anderson....Leafs needed the cap space and were able to offload 2.3m Johnsson. Sorry Anderson isn't an NHLer and can gifted to LA.</div></div>
I know like I said I highly doubt Muzzin waives. Campbell has upside, and a first round loss against a good opponent doesn't mean the goalie played poorly, such as Campbell last year. Leafs could of easily of got a second round pick, Joey Anderson was a bit of a gamble or bet and it didn't payoff, at least not yet but point is his value is less than a second. He has been an NHLer however and a fourth is a fair return I think most would agree.

Buffalo could probably get a bit more for taking Mrazek. Possibly a fourth + a b-level prospect like Mikhail Abramov or Kral + Duszak who would bring no value but wants a fresh start and Sens could work.

Key phrase "league min". Even Pens management see him as a third pair/7th dman, Holl would be an upgrade in everyway. Dermotts value was a third at the Leafs got it, there had been interest from other teams as well so you calling a team biting "lucky" completely unfounded.

a slightly more realistic off-season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dekes</b></div><div>toronto would definitely need to give up 1 of robertson, knies or niemala for murphy he is a very good shutdown dman
also i was gonna mention i think either nichushkin or marchment would be solid additions for the 1st line i hope B's can move past the whole russian thing because nichushkin would be a near perfect fit for bergy and marchy
also when looking at advanced analytics bush is much less prone to turnovers, had more blocked shots a high corsi and his WAR, 5v5 defence and PK stats were all higher then brown's i think bush is a good bottom pair dman where brown is more of a 6-7 dman he can play bottom pair but he needs a solid partner with him if that is the case</div></div>
Which is why it wouldn't happen. No use in giving up a top prospect for a man when you have plenty of options within the system

Still don't see how that value is anywhere near fair. Kerfoot is producing at a better pace and is really just a level above Pearson. Maybe if some assets are added the trade could go through, but Pearsons not really the guy Toronto needs.
