Where does Noah Ohstlund rate in prospects for Buffalo. Not counting goalies (because they are a different breed) I'd rank Kulich, Savoie, Ohstlund, Rosen as the top 4 (not necessarily in that order. Ohatlund and the 23 PHI 2nd, or Ohstlund and the 24 1st are big offers.

Can't see Buffalo paying $7.5M in salary or $7.35 in cap for Brodie. Not implying he's not a decent enough RD, but Buffalo would not t=do that economically.

Buffalo is not a destination for Brodie. 5M cap hit, but 7.5M salary is not something Adams and Pegula will do. Maybe...maybe with a decent sweetener, but even then I doubt it as they have not taken advantage of their extra cap space for years.

Brodie at $7.5M in cash will make him a non-starter. If his contract had been front loaded instead of back loaded in terms of paycheck then maybe he'd be worth a 2nd or 3rd, but not two as mentioned above. LHD does not help his odds overall.

Curious what Girards strengths are (I rarely get to see Avs games). The Sabres need a very good right shot defensive defenseman.
I'm thinking they'd prefer not to roll 4 LD's in the top four. And Mittlestadt plus the higher draft pick seems like a lot to pay for a 3rd pair LD.

You think Armia gets the Sabres to the Stanley Cup? That's hilarious!
Sounds like you need to hang onto to playoff performer Armia and leave
younger, cheaper, better Mittlestadt to Buffalo.

So, the Sabres should trade the younger, cheaper, better offensive player for someone who is possibly going to be bought out and has long Covid?

Lowkey offseason
If Mrazek's salary was less than his cap hit it would be a maybe. The team will not want to pay the real dollars for a guy who may not be as good as just resigning Tokarski for $1M-ish.

No, it wasn't, because he admitted to requesting a trade the previous offseason. The team attempted to appease him (signing Hall and Staal, which failed terribly) after his initial request.

Stop and ask why Eichel has not elected for medical arbitration. Could be because he knows he would lose the case and either be forced into the allegedly less risky surgery or, maybe he'd have to compromise his contract and risk $50M guarantee (which the NHLPA would not allow).
Possibly insurance will not cover $50M against ADR, but will cover fusion.
The team would risk losing an asset with no possibility of compensation in trade or draft picks and could be forced to pay his guaranteed salary.
Far more complex than "just let him get the surgery he wants" I've seen people suggest.

Brutal for Buffalo regardless of Skinners effectiveness on the ice. Buffalo pays 84M to Nashville's 42M and give up a 1st round pick.

Helping Jack off the Sabres a 3 way
My own thoughts are that the problem may be contract insurance will not cover the replacement surgery. The team will not risk $50M guaranteed for an uninsured surgery. I think the Eichel camp would have filed for medical arbitration if they thought they had a chance to win.
If there were some way to remove the teams financial and player asset risk (agree to the surgery he wants, but he insures his own $50M contract, and waives his NMC) I believe the team would let him get the surgery tomorrow.

Eichel was seen skating in Boston. Allegedly, took more than three doctors before he found one who agreed to the surgery. (Which has never been done on a hockey player.)

That's Hilarious! Your projections are what YOU would do. The decision makers gave a 40 goal guy 9M. None of those three are worth those contracts. Sheary is barely worth 3M now, but YOU would give him 5?

Why would they give Sheary 5.5, or Ullmark 5, or keep Bogosian @ 5? Those are positions for replacement players. I just saved 15.5 million off your total.

Can never say a team (like EDM) wouldn't trade a first for a 2nd pair when they did exactly that with Hall for Larsson. Teams value cap stabiity and a known Ristolainen for three season might be worth the risk. Of course that all depends on how EDM views the potential in the draft and Bear.

I suppose Drew Doughty is bad too. Just watched a clip of 12 random goals against with Risto on the ice. He was responsible for maybe 4 or 5. I'm not saying he's a #1 D, but the +/- is blown way out of proportion. Having said that I still think his days with the Sabres are numbered.

I like the trades. Bogo for Bjugstad wouldn't happen due to his surgery, But I like the attempt. Craig Smith might be the locker room guy that finally brings the team together. Easy enough to skip resigning Pommer and get Olofsson in the line up (with some other line swaps).

Samuelsson is a D prospect (5G, 7A, 37PIM, +3 in 35 games). Not disagreeing with the thread, but I think the deal is close. A 2020 1st instead of SJ 2019 1st might get it done. As a Sabres fan I would not be interested in losing Pilut and Samuelsson.
