Were you sniffing glue when you made this proposal? On planet Earth Samuelsson doesn’t get close to that return from any team & Hawks are not in the market for a LD at all.

Slaggert is easily worth more than Kozak, and, Slaggert being younger and waiver exempt, is arguably worth more than Rousek. He might even be better than Rousek, but that is TBD. So why is CHI adding the higher pick?

Hawks fans agree and we like him. Ironically, he could have left and went to any team, but he chose to stick with the Hawks. I can't see him getting traded at all.

As a UFA next summer, Toronto is not able to drive value back to them beyond 1 year of Marner's value unless they sign him to an extension prior.</div></div>
And in which case Marner isn't going to waive anywhere because he came to terms with on an extension in Toronto

The feeling has to be mutual too. Kakko shouldn’t want to come back either and look for a fresh start where he can actually play more than 13 minutes</div></div>
100% agreed on all of those fronts. It's a "tough spot" to be in. I put it in quotes because you still have a game to play tonight....so I don't really feel bad, but if you can't get the ice time and the NYR don't look like they'll have the cap space...1st class problems I guess?

Some look at Kirby Dach and say...he was drafted 1 pick later and still received a 1st & 3rd, BUT I'd argue A.) more time as passed...2 years in fact. There was still much more potential to develop a 21 year old vs a 23 year old. and B.) I'm not so sure MTL would sign up for that again if they had the chance to undo it.</div></div>

Yea i don’t know exactly what Kakko is worth in a trade. NYR fans would say it’s too little, fans of other teams would say it’s too much haha

Yup, I was looking for teams that maybe have a top 6 and special teams slot open for him. Could be low risk, high reward
Ranger coaches just aren’t utilizing him

I posted it lol. Kakko looking at his 2nd healthy scratch in two ECFs….
Also 3rd coach who doesn’t trust Kakko or want to play him much. I like Kakko and the game he brings, but it’s very clear what’s going on

A 2nd round pick has a low chance of making it in the NHL and because the pick is from Dallas it likely ends up in the bottom 3rd of the second round anyway. Kakko is a legit NHL player with potential. Seems like a no-risk/high-reward trade for the Hawks.
I think the Rangers ask for more though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>I think it's worth it, despite Kaapo's skating concerns and he may ultimately being only a 3rd line winger. However, the hawks are thin at the RW position with young players or prospects, so think it would work as such for the Hawks even if he never amounts to more than a 3rd line RW long-term.
I also think the rangers would want more, but Kaapo at best may be worth a very late 1st at this point so the Rangers may just be better holding onto him. I would propose Raylor Raddsh plus the 2nd round pick as a better solution given that Raddysh is also a RW and going to be cheaper for the Rangers. In this instance, Raddysh is more or less a even swap positionaly and as a player but cheaper and Rangers get the 2nd round pick as well. Hawks are purely better Kaapo becomes more than Raddysh.</div></div>
I'm all for that addition as well. I'll post an adder and credit you.

That's not going to do it for CAR and they don't really have a big cap problem. They have Defense prospects that need NHL ice time so one of their Dmen will go. Not Necas. Also, no need for Moser and your contracts for just about everyone (except Necas) are too high by a wide margin. I doubt Entwhistle makes the team let alone get's $1.8M. Joey Anderson might make the team, but he'll be near the league minimum.

The closest comp you could argue for Chicago accepting this trade is Beauvillier but Chicago was injury plagued when they made the trade and needed warm bodies. That was in-season and filled a need. Atkinson doesn't fill a need and really doesn't fit with the direction this team is headed. Is it a guaranteed no-go? No but if I were a betting man I'd put my savings on this trade not happening.
