Right now Celebrini has proven that he can dominate at the NCAA level as a 17 year old. And for the 3rd time, I'm comparing both draft -1 years, so I'm comparing the same year of development between the two. I agree there's surely things I'll miss from only seeing clips of Hagens and not full games, but as of now I'd rather have Celebrini</div></div>
It's just odd if you listen to what scouts and analysts say who watched them both develop. You are watching clips and looking at a stat sheet, that's not exactly a full picture. Who knows, maybe you end up being right but I have to believe the pros analysis of 16 and 17 year old kids before I trust myself with a stat sheet and a few clips

It's way too difficult to compare at this age with 1 year of development apart and unless you're watching the games with your own eyes, stat sheets don't give an objective view by themselves

I would love to see Kane back to play with Bedard. I would not put Reichel on his off side, let Hall or Reichel play with bedard and kane. Kurashev has no problems on his off-side so slide him to the 2nd line.

You have to look at the age group they are in, regardless of what their actual age is. How many years in the juniors, AAA, and downward. From a hockey development perspective, Hagens is a full year behind Celebrini

That's fair, but Sammy's not it either. He's an incredibly streaky goalie and not the guy you want to ride in the playoffs even when the defense is clicking. He can pull games out of his rear end on occasion but he can also cost team's games. He's a fine backup, but Leafs need a more reliable starter along with at least one top 10 shut down defender in the league.

Again going to the other goalie to soon does nothing. He lets in 4 whose next Jones, Jones lets in 4 whose next Murray, Murray then lets in 4 whose next oh wait they got swept.
Keefe went to war with Cooper and won. Copper is one of the better coaches in the NHL, BOS is also good but TOR has forced a better version of them into a game 7 twice with the most stubborn coach in the league in Mike Babcock. Leafs are 2-7 in the Matthews game 1 era not concerned about a single game
Everyone top to bottom needs to smarten up as if we keep taking stupid penalties, allowing 2 on 1's and losing puck battles to a single guy when 5 are back in their zone were going no where. Big boyz especially need to wake up
Dont care for posts or shots at the end of the day all we see are 0's</div></div>
Sammy sucks. His stats rank last of out starting goalies this season and even behind backups in save %. Goaltending and defense is what is needed in the playoffs and both are weak spots for the Leafs. If one is bad, it makes the other look bad and in the case of the Leafs, both aren't great.

...and here you go again.
Jones is a good #2 next to a #1; look at the Hawks defense with and without him during his injury...it's clear as day what he brings to the ice against the oppositions best players and on the toughest assignments. He would easily be the Leafs 2nd best defensive player on the team. Jones is #2 on the Hawks next to Vlasic who would also be the Leafs best defender who ranked top 3 in the entire NHL in the defensive zone as a rookie.
His contract and his abilities are mutually exclusive and can be objectively judged separately as I just said in my last comment.

I defend Jones, not his contract..there IS a difference. He's easily a 1st liner on most teams, mostly as a #2, including the Hawks and Leafs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>So what you are saying is he needs an actual partner. Not Lybushkin, or Brodie, or (insert the long list of 3rd pair plugs he's been forced to play with his entire career). This just proves your negative bias. Somehow being forced to carry terrible partners makes him eh? Lybushkin must be hurting so much having to play with Rielly eh?</div></div>
It proves that most people outside of the Leafs bias realize what he's good at and asking him to be the #1 defensive zone guy is not it, which means he's needs a legitimate 1st line defensive dman partner. No bias here, just realistic. He's very good, but not elite as some Leafs fans think he is.

Fire Keefe and the Whole Front Office
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>A lot of the goals against issues on this team are system issues. The same thing hurts the team over and over and over and Keefe never changes anything. The goaltending with Sammy is obviously not good, woll has a lot of potential but Keefe ruins guys he doesn't trust and for whatever reason he picks his guys and they can do no wrong. Jarnkrok has played 1 game in the past 2-3 months, better make him a key player in game 1. Sammy wasn't even an NHLer for the first half of the season, he's the starter and he'll get another 2 games to prove Keefe wrong. The PP gets too predictable, better do the same thing we always do. When they play their puck possession, pinch all the time system in the playoffs and the opposition just traps them and get quick strike offence the other way, do the same thing until they lose. Keefe sucks</div></div>
They are always pinching trying to play possession in the o zone, but against heavy defensive teams it doesn't work. Hence my comment about Reilly in the other thread. This has gone on before Keefe as well.

Or A) realize Rielly gives up defensive position in effort to drive the zone and join the offense and needs a top 10 shut down defender to play with, or B) he simply is showing he's past his peak this season.
A certain amount of risk/reward has always been the case with Rielly, but the Leafs have done him no favors with defensive partners to limit the risk with Rielly and to let him flourish

The writing is on the wall that Morgan may not be today, but if nothing else in another season or two, not a first liner or at least needs to play with a very good shut down dman. Leafs need to look ahead and prepare for that. McCabe is not a 2nd liner either, he's a solid #5.

Sammy is the worst starting goalie in the league, and in fact ranked behind several backup goalies. While he is certainly part of the blame, so is the defense in front of him. Same problem for the last 8 years in Toronto
