Of course you will, the team make a qualifying offer of 2 yrs x $2m.
J.P. Barrie countered with 2 yrs x 4m. The nature of negotiations is that the actual number falls somewhere in between

No Need to trade Carrier, he is already at league minimum and is the best hitter in the league.
Pirri just signed as a UFA so I doubt they trade him.
Eakin is all you need to trade

That is why Vegas ends up signing him

Sad truth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>I wouldn't pay anything more than the 2nd for that guy</div></div>
Thats probably why you are not a GM, Teams were offering a prospect and a 2nd and that was clearly not enough or Vegas would have traded him.
If Vegas has no intention of signing Gusev they would have no need to have traded the Clarkson contract, they could have placed him on LTIR like the Leafs will do now. The reason for trading it was they would have only gotten 4.20m in cap relief if they signed Gusev, where they would have gotten the full relief of 5.25m if they traded him.

they still cant sign gusev even for a league minimum
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vegasloveforthebills</b></div><div>If he were to take league minimum, flop Whitecloud for Bischoff.
Also, they will probably bury Holden too. So that will free up a little more. Even if you were to add Whitecloud (or Schuldt back in)</div></div>
Burying Holden would let them recoup another 1.1m , trading him to Montreal and throwing in a lifetime supply of Celine Dion tickets might be enough to actually signing him

Move Gusev and call up Glass team complete
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PhillDaThrill</b></div><div>But VGK has only a hair over 1 million in cap. So they can't sign Gusev without shipping out someone. Maybe they can move Holden, but then they still only about 3.2 million. So he has to be willing to take 800k less than he's asking for. And then we are maxed out with only 22 players.[/quote
When player A makes 5m a year and the team is 3m above the cap and you place him on LTIR, You use 3m in relief to become compliant. You can't use the balance of 2m to sign another player. By trading Clarkson Vegas doesn't have to worry about the $1,025,000 that they would have been leaving on the table now. It gives them more flexibility to sign Gusev.
Otherwise there is no reason for Vegas to trade Clarkson.</div></div>

They Moved Clarkson so there is no issue in signing Gusev
Once a player is placed on LTIR (and aren't maxed out to the full relief) you can't add another contract and use the difference of the extra relief. Hence the trade to sign who we want without the worry

Gusev, Nikita [RFA Rights] is more or less equal to 2021 2nd round pick (BUF)
Eakin, Cody + Reaves, Ryan for Ristolainen, Rasmus you can decide which side is more valuable.
Vegas gets value for Gusev while only giving up a 3rd center for a 24 yo physical RHD he can play 24 minutes a night,
I like the trade because the Sabres get a center and a prospect. Reaves IMO is a cap dump, what do you think?
I would like to hear your thoughts.
Edit:
I wonder if LAK would make that trade
But if VGK and LAK would agree, then you made a good team</div></div>
They have no use for Ristolainen, if you thought Miller was in Gallant's doghouse, how do you think an overpaid -41 defenseman would do?
They only have to trade either Gusev or Eakin, not both, the return would be prospects/picks, they can't take on salary let alone Ristolainen's

Pionk deal confirmed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigE</b></div><div>It seems high for Pionk, but it looks like crazy $$ is being thrown at young defenseman, especially right shot ones. The Trouba deal is crazy in my opinion....I thought he looked very suspicious the last 2 playoff series losses, like teams figured out that if you apply great pressure to him he'll cough up the puck, which he did in volumes against Vegas and the Blues. When the blues were forechecking, Buff was carrying the puck out to some success, while other D were beating the press with decent outlet passing. Trouba didn't seems to be able to to either. I'd love to see the clips of all the turnovers from those 2 series Trouba had. My suspicion is Trouba will not be very well regarded in NY and will crumble under both big city pressure and actual hockey pressure.</div></div>
I agree, Rangers will see it as an albatross in a few years

I didn’t think that would make enough room</div></div>
Moving Haula, makes the likelihood of trading either Eakin or Gusev unlikely, They won't go from 10 top 9 players to 8, The players likely gone from a team who has stated over and over that they are in a win now mode is Holden and Reaves, even if they have to provide sweetners for other teams

I still think they will just take the best offer for Gusev, which will most likely be a pretty good deal for them, especially since they got Gusev for nothing</div></div>
of course they aren't going to want do any favors for them, any deals a GM makes is for the best interest of their own team. 98% is just pure conjecture from you with no basis other than your opinion. Vegas won't trade Eakin, he has too much value to them, I doubt they move Gusev either. There are other pieces that they can move
