Far from it. I was thinking something like Dahlen and a 3rd or maybe a 2nd and Kniasev

I think Kap fits more than Nylander. Johnsson probably fits best though or even Trevor Moore. But if those two are involved it's going to take a lot more.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Let’s be real about a couple things. First, yes, it would take a ton more. It would take more if there were no extension involved. It would take a crazy amount more if there were. Second, Liljigren is not a blue chip d prospect.</div></div>
If no extension is in place, the only piece that might be upgraded is 3rd turns into a second OR Liljegren turns into Sandin. That would be fair especially since Ceci is being retained and is UFA next year so no cap issues will come as a result of it.
However, I still wouldn't make this trade as I think it wouldn't be good for the Blues. Petro is an elite d-man but he is also over 30 now.
I also never called Liljegren a blue chip prospect. I said a first would need to be included if there isn't a blue chip.

If an extension is in place then this will be accepted as I really don't know if they'd get a ton better than this. However, a first round pick would have to be involved if a blue chip prospect isn't and I don't think Kapanen makes up the difference.

If I have to choose between him or Matthews I'm taking Bergeron everyday and twice on Sunday if healthy. There aren't too many I would choose over him especially if cap hit is part of the decision making.

We might be able to take Kravtsov off this list. Guy just got demoted in the KHL which is a very bad sign for his current track.

You are right, he is playing AMAZING hockey this year, but Bergy is still over a PPG and is the best defensive forward in hockey and can not be counted out of the top 5 until maybe next year as he gets older</div></div>
I mean if we are only taking in playing ability, I would say Bergeron should be up there at number 5 at best. If we're taking in everything into consideration, he's lower on the list because of injuries taking a toll on him. But if he's 100% then he's one of the best.

As a Blues fan, this is stupid. First of all, no way in H-E double hockey sticks does Montreal trade Caufield for anything much less a 30 year old defenseman as well as a solid young defenseman in Fleury.

He wont be traded to Minnesota. They'll trade him somewhere where he can actually potentially win a cup soon.

It's a package which isn't small, but also not a huge haul that it looks like an overpay. Sweeney also doesn't love trading 1st round picks so that will be interesting to see.
Haven't seen his name either, but that's not really a surprised giving all the hype around Hall. I think Boston would be smart to go after him, but like you said cap wise it becomes an issue.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>He has averaged 29.5 per 82 since joining Devils.
Skinner was a completely different story. Everyone knew Canes had to trade him and he had an NTC which limited where he could go, he blocked a pair of trades according to Canes. Their hands were tied. And they got hosed.
Devils don’t need to trade him. And the market would be a lot better than a Skinner move.
As I said, i doubt they’d even accept a 1st and Seny. It’s not enough.</div></div>
Palmieri is a very good player. That's unquestioned. But again, I don't think he gets a ton in a package. New Jersey would probably Seny, a 1st, maybe an extra piece like a 3rd or 4th, but he won't command a ton. I'm a fan of his and think he's underrated, but isnt considered a game changer by any stretch.

Try a 1st and either Senyshyn or Zboril. Even that might get declined.</div></div>
The other option is something similar to Brayden Schenn but he was traded in the offseason and had two full years under contract with the Blues. Blues had to overpay with two firsts to also get rid of Lehtera's contract.

He's only hit 30 once and never more than 60 points in a season. I know Skinner didnt have a second year in his contract, but he did have one full season on his contract and only fetched for Pu, a 2nd, 3rd and 6th. Im thinking Senyshyn and maybe 2 second round picks.

I disagree. I think Reinke has got more in him, especially offensively. He looked good in all the preseason games and has looked more than solid in the AHL. Erikson Ek is just more of what we have now. No need for him. Also, Eriksson Ek is only 1 year younger than Reinke. Now if Kunin was the target id say let's get him.

Kreider is a perfect fit this year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Raising a pick from a 2nd to a 1st is a pretty handsome throw-in, especially in the 2020 draft. Tarasenko is historically a fast healer, I highly doubt he'll be out longer than the regular season, and probably will be back before the end of it. Either way, Kreider has been a shade off offensively for a year now (14g in his last 67gp and less than 10 at even strength, rates that can't even match Sunny and Barby). Don't get me wrong, Kreider is a solid complimentary player, and from what understand he's also a solid teammate. He's also a so-so playoff scorer and a rental that we won't be able to re-sign even if we wanted to (which is not super likely considering everything we need to do in the offseason). Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm not willing to overpay for him.
As for us making the finals again, I can't see why anyone would think our chances are less than pretty damn good.</div></div>
A 1st is rich, but again it's reliant on other factors that may not come to fruition. It's basically the same Zuccarello got last year. I think the issue is Quinn's system in New York. It's more about the east-west game and not the North-South game. Kreider would be in that in st. louis

Kreider is a perfect fit this year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Our top 6 is filled out fine and our line-up is already hella-flexible. Kreider would likely not be among our 8-10 most important players, and definitely not among the 6-7 most vital guys; that's the very definition of a complimentary piece. A nice one, to be sure, but still supporting cast. In fact, it would be entirely fair to argue that Sanford has been much more valuable this season relative to his cap hit than Kreider.
And the Blues may well make the finals without him. If they can go on an extended roll without Tarasenko and a few other key forwards, just imagine what they will do when everybody is back.</div></div>
I disagree. I think he could end up being amongst our 8-10 important guys for a playoff run. Blues may end up being without Tarasenko even in the playoffs, it just depends on how his shoulder recovery goes plus conditioning. We can talk more value based on cap hit all we want, but the fact is Kreider is a fast heavy body who can shoot, hit, etc. he's not as good as Tank (not a whole lot are) but the Blues need more offense in case Tarasenko is out longer. And if we make the finals again, who cares about that pick? Hell we can make it a 2020 1st instead of a 2021 1st where we don't know what the Blues will do in 2020-2021. It's not a bad deal and chances are they don't make the finals again anyway so it's just kind of a throw in anyway.
