(CGY/FLA) - Tkachuk for Huberdeau, Weegar, Schwindt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Holy ****. Capital B Blockbuster.
This is fun. Is this what the NBA feels like all the time?
Seriously what the hell is the Atlantic divison? This arms race is just getting silly.
And with everything going on, will Huberdeau want to stay in Calgary? His contract is up soon. Weegar's contract is up too btw. I don't see why not but I didn't see why not with Tkachuk or Gaudreau either so.
Anyway time to be controversial: Huberdeau is a great playmaker, one of the best, but he is very one dimensional in his talents and as such gets overrated. Weegar is great so that helps to even it out but with the contracts I'd rather Tkachuk signed for 8 years at 9.5.
Literally who cares about a 1st in the year 3000. Time value is a thing people. That guy won't play until 2030.
I like this for Florida much more than for Calgary. They should have gone for a futures package and rebuilt (Lundell, etc from Florida). They weren't good enough before, just got worse and if they can't sign Huberdeau they are ****ed. And now they have missed on the top of the 2023 draft class too. Not that its a bad return, hell its a good return but I just don't think its the RIGHT return</div></div>
Everything you write makes sense, but holy smokes, the balls on Calgary to pull off a trade like this. This shows they are serious about staying competitive, for better or worse.

Way lower AAV than I expected, even with his baggage.

At this cap hit the Panthers should have gotten him for 5 years.

Brilliant. Give him a year and if he doesn't pan out trade him. If he does then he gets a big deal that he deserves.

This deal would be good if it was at 6 years or more, but at 4 years I have to say it is not a good deal.

Philadelphia Flyers signed Carter Hart (3 Years / $3,979,000 AAV)
Carter Hart is the real deal. He and Mackenzie Blackwood are the next BIG goaltenders. Personally, I think Blackwood is better, but this deal is perfect for Hart. I love it.

I like this. The cap hit is high, but that's what you pay for when you sign a guy through his prime years.

Holland is a major league turd if he thinks this is a good deal.
Chiarelli 2.0 with this deal, just replace Lucic with Hyman.

(CBJ/PHI) - Atkinson for Voracek
This is fair. Laine is going to benefit from Voracek's presence big time. Voracek also has a higher cap hit but shorter-term left on his deal. I think Jarmo is looking to return to the playoffs with this deal, it makes them more competitive.

3 million a year is palatable, and Philly should get full value out for all 5 years as Laughton is a young fellow. I love this deal.

Mantha is a big bodied forward who can score goals. I have been a big fan of his since he joined the league and I honestly think this deal will have great value, immediately, this coming season.

I don't think Toronto should have pursued Tavares like this. Way too much money for him. Matthews is going to take even more to keep, and you also have Nylander and Marner to sign as well.
