Another Zegras Trade
Ducks say no. They need prolific scoring forward prospects not d depth. Beyond the fact that LeBrun confirmed that they’re not shopping him, just listening to team who heard fat Seravelli’s rumors and checked in on the rumor. Unless they get something outrageous he’s likely not getting moved because he’s exactly what they lack in depth.

Lacombe definitely moves the needle you just don’t know who he is, but other GMs definitely do, and he looks like he’ll be bonafide top 4 dman with offensive upside.
The trade was the Ducks pick top 5 protected and the rangers 1st. Along with the other pieces. It’s pretty much same value as the panthers Tkachuck trade just different age groups and expanded team control on the assets.

Literally had these exact same discussion with Oilers fans about Puljujarvi a couple years ago. A savvy management will realize that regardless of whether Kakko turns into a serviceable top 6 forward it probably won’t lineup with this cores window so best to get players that can help in that window with what mitigated value he still has.

To me what happens here is you get Pettersson to accelerate the rebuild and you in essence almost waste some years of him being here because you're still waiting on everyone else to develop, so then you have to go out and start spending money you don't need to surround them with more vets.
Ducks should stay the course.</div></div>
At some point you have to make a big move. Disgruntled superstars don’t come on the market too often. They already have their set future roster in
Gauthier-Z-Terry
McT-Leo-top 5 2024 pick
Killorn-Lundy-Strome
Fowler-Gudas
Mintyukov-Luneau
Zel-Lindstrom/Vaks/Helleson/FA
They have an abundance of assets but not all of em are gonna be able to make the roster so they need to package some of em together for a game changer, this is the type of trade they need to make.

1.5M for 6 seasons ain’t that bad with the cap going up as much as it will. Having a first in 2025 would be worth more asset-wise than 6 years of 1.5M

Nah I think it’s fair, they run the risk of EP walking after his offer sheet. Getting McTavish 2 firsts, Jones and Lacombe is even more value arguably than the Tkachuck trade. And I don’t know if there’s many other teams that would be able to offer that kinda package. The whole same division premium is overblown.

I doubt it. Drury runs the risk of Kakko going the way of Puljujarvi with a real shot at a Cup this year. I think they take this deal running the risk of Kakko figuring it out on another team.

Not trading both Henrique and Vatrano in that deal either
I’d rather just keep Carrick and resign him that trading him for late round picks</div></div>
Keeping Carrick would be dumb when you get a player similar to him through playing Groulx more and you can get an asset for an expiring contract. I disagree on your Campbell take. Henrique and Vatrano is probably fair for a 1st and Kakko. I assume Kakko has about the value of a 1st and a little bit. So two firsts for Vatrano and Henrique is fair.

Zegras will almost certainly play wing from here on out for us. Gauthier isn’t going to get thrust onto the top line right away, and even if so, Z playing 2LW with McTavish is still a great fit. He’ll slide back to the middle for injuries more likely than not, but ANA’s 3rd line has historically been more defensively responsible, and you also don’t want to be limiting Z to 3rd line minutes.
Z - Leo - Terry
Gauthier - McTavish - Vatrano (for now)
Killorn - Lunde - Strome
That third line has flexibility with Strome also a fine 3C, Lunde LW, and Killer RW</div></div>
Boqvist is just as big as Drysdale. The size thing is overblown. I doubt Zegras goes wing when he comes back. Cronin has no problem playing McT 3rd line C. Top 2 lines would be interchangeable first lines and Gauthier would definitely play top 6.
I don’t think the historic pattern matters when they have completely new management and roster.

Also not really interested in a smaller RD. Whoever we add at RD will likely pair with a young LD (Minty, Zell, Lacombe) so I’d rather it be a big, defensive minded vet</div></div>
Ducks have a glut of guys coming up that can fill the role Lundy would have as winger. This trade is essentially just a positional young player swap to a position of need in RHD. Boqvist might not hit in Anaheim but it’s better to increase the odds of one of your RHD hitting by having a lot of them.
And I wouldn’t count out the chances of Zegras playing C when Gauthier gets here. Groulx and Gaucher make Lundestrom redundant. And eventually Nesterenko, Perrault and Regenda are gonna get second looks on the wing.

Well I based that trade on rumors that Lou wanted to grab Vatrano. He’s positioned the islanders to try for playoffs every year with the contracts he’s signed. Can’t really abandon that as the GM who initiated it.

Nah Vatrano gets that return. Laf is having a 46 pt pace, that’s rough. Vatrano is on an amazing deal on a 35 goal pace and plays a complete game. Coleman got 2 1sts and Nolan Foote with a worse season and worse previous seasons. At this point Laf isn’t worth a 1st and prospect.
Henrique trade is fine. Wahlstrom probably doesn’t get re-signed in NY he’s kinda just a project might not even be re-signed in ANA. 3rd would be conditional on production and playoff games.
Silfverberg is having an amazing defensive season despite the awful anaheim metrics, he’d be a great get for a 4th.

Are you describing Blake Coleman or Frank Vatrano? Vatrano has been playing second line, second PP this whole season. He would probably be playing second line in NY as well with Brock and Fasching. And literally a 40 goal pace does dictate your value lol what league are you talking about here
Blake Coleman was having a worse season and got two firsts and a prospect and was an integral part of Tampas cup run. And Vatrano has had better past seasons than Coleman did up to the point he was traded.
