On your Carolina point.
I see CAR as a team that really is a 2C away from being a playoff team.
Their defense is stacked up and down and very young, they just need that C.
Darling had a bad year, but is gonna bounce back.
Imagine if CAR went ahead and traded Slavin + ??? For Nylander and then had 1C Nylander 2C Hayes 3C Staal with their still stacked D-Core, solid wingers, and starting goalie. That's an upper tier playoff team I think. Upper tier meaning 2nd round appearance minimum team

2018/19 Hartford Wolf Pack Opening Night Roster
Think Andesson and Chytil are in the NHL next year.
Think we see FA signing as 1C, Howden as 2C, Tambellini as 3C, and could see maybe another FA, or even Dominik Lakatos as 4C
Also gotta think we have Gabriel Fontaine > Dawson Leedahl. He could use another half year in the ECHL.
Gonna be very interesting to say the least. We have a very deep forward and defensive core in the minors for next season!

If the Rangers are compensated for taking the dead cap hit than I'm sure something can be arranged ??
Issue would become where does he play for the NYR, especially when we're playing the younger guys over older guys.
I could see it done if DAL eats half his cap hit and than the Rangers flip him again to someone else

Leafs NYR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mong53</b></div><div>Do they have a goalie in the system they like? I just know Hank isn't getting any younger. Thought the best goalie in the AHL was a good idea. They aren't getting a top fwd for him, Leivo is an NHL ready player who has upside, I realize his value on the market is low though. The Leafs have some good fwd prospects though so I'm sure something can be worked out on that front. Picks and prospects have to be the primary currency here. No team buying right now is looking to subtract from their roster.</div></div>
Absolutely, they're very high in Georgiev who made his debut yesterday, but their special guy is Shestyorkin who I believe was rated the top goaltending prospect in the NHL. It was certainly a good thought, but not what the Rangers want.
Rangers have too many guys like Leivo who can score 30-40 points on a good year. McDonagh can absolutely get a top forward. (By top forward I don't mean Matthews, Benn, Malkin, etc.) I mean more along the lines of a consistent 60-65 or 30+ goal scorer. Teams will make the sacrifice if they feel it's the right move. If a team that has a lot of Offense wants Defense they'll swap. For example Seth Jones for Ryan Johansen. CBJ needed Defense and NSH needed offense. CBJ had plethora of Forwards and NSH had plethora of Defense. Just made sense for both sides

Leafs NYR
The Rangers have zero need for any goaltending prospects.
With that the NYR want either a top forward or top forward prospects. It's been said here also opting against picks and prefer drafted prospects or roster players.

Mcdonagh
One of the better ones I've seen in here.
Just take out Ingram and replace him with either Cirelli or Raddysh and y'all can up the salary retention on McDonagh to 50% and throw in a mid/late pick or a C level prospect on NYR side

What would it take for BUF to get JT Miller?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jbarre6</b></div><div>Jake McCabe, Nylander and a conditional 2nd if BUF makes the playoffs in 2019? This is all done during the off-season</div></div>
I think that could be arranged. Rangers may be more interested in other prospects instead of McCabe depending on who they draft and the already deep defensive prospect depth. Kinda hard for the NYR to find a 'perfect trade' with everything they have in the system right now.
Definitely a great starter though in terms of value.

Considering Miller is 24, has two years of RFA left, plays all three forward positions, plays good 5v5 and special teams, coming off back to back 20+ goal years, second on the Rangers in scoring, etc etc etc the price is going to be high.
Rangers might ask for picks + prospects from Buffalo, or talk to the Sabres about Alex Nylander and maybe see what can be worked out from there.
I could see JT fitting in nicely with Buffalo. Him and Eichel together would be very fun to watch considering Miller has kinda been doing his scoring all by himself with the Rangers

Rangers take on a bad contract for a year to get young assets
The Rangers are not just trading thei captain and best all around player to their divisional rival while retaining salary for a terrible contract, a near bust in Burakovsky, a late first round pick, and a B prospect at best in Connor Hobbs especially when we've already got like 3 defensive prospects who are as good as or equal to Hobbs

23 year old former first round pick that only has 4 goals and 11 points in 28 games this year is awfully close.
If the Caps don't need him then the NYR definitely do not. We've got enough depth on offense as it is, and for Ryan McDonagh there is no point in trading him for a hit or miss guy like Burakovsky.
I'm not trying to sound like a jerk I promise lol.

Wow really?
I figured since he's got the higher cap hit Dubi would have the higher hit, but I guess not.
I think the trade could help both team tbh.
Rangers need Centers and CBJ needs a Defender. Torts liked Staal when he was with NYR so I'm sure he'd put in a good word.
I'd love to see this trade go down!

I'm gonna have to disagree on Smith being worth two seconds. A LHD having a down year while having 4 years left and a $4.35 cap hit is not easily moved in the NHL.
I see what you mean by Hayes, I definitely want that first rounder and Lindberg as a start for him.
NYR are retooling/rebuilding, guy like Hayes is moveable and a first rounder in one of the deepest drafts in history is well worth it, especially if you snag a solid D-Prospect
