Oshie to LTIR and using cap space
Pass on all the UFA. Caps need to be getting younger.

Making the Sens more family friendly with realistic trades and signings

Also, if you want to get him in UFA, you'll need to beat 31 different teams to the punch.</div></div>
That's fine. It's worth the gamble. Like I said I like Chych but it's not like he's a world beater. Caps will only be spending their top tier assets on those type of players.

I think Caps don't use a 1st unless it's a top pairing or top line guy. I like Chych but might as well wait a 1 more year and get him in UFA if you really want him. We already have Fehervary and Sandin as our top 4 LHD.

Caps pass. No need for Gavrikov, already have a better younger version in Fehervary. Plus Caps will never trade Oshie and he'll probably retire this summer.

What the last 6 games have shown us about the Pens
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pens3lieve</b></div><div>would you rather:
pens never go on the winning streak, finish #24 in the league, jump from pick 8 to #1 pick OVR and get Celebrini MEANWHILE the caps get the 2nd wildcard spot and make it to the stanley cup final (not clear if they win, 50/50 shot)
OR
pens do win out, edge out the caps for the 2nd WC spot, make it all the way to the SC Final, while WSH gets the #16 pick and it's a major bust</div></div>
O gosh that's a tough one. Probably the 2nd one because no way in hell Caps are winning the Cup. It would be a MTL situation a couple years back.

As a Caps fan I'm glad they are winning. I don't want them anywhere near Celebrini lol

Best top 6 in NHL history
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Sure, well give you our top center prospect, Nathan Gaucher.
Or were you trying to be cute and hint that you could land a McTavish or Carlsson?
We wouldn't be adding to Zegras for Lenny, straight swap at best, Zegras is the kind of playmaking center that will get Ovi past Gretzky's record, and whereas Lenny is a prospect, Zegras is a proven NHL top 6 talent</div></div>
I was trying to be cute. Caps have no reason to trade Leonard unless a team overpays. Highly doubt ANA does it but Caps aren't doing it for Zegras either. Ovi will get the record with or without Zegras so that's not a selling point for the Caps.

It would be but can't see Caps doing it unless instead of Zegras it involved one of your top tier young prospects. It would be an overpay but that's what it would take to get it done. Lenny will be a star.

Whats their plan
Not saying Mliano is untradebale but they definitely won't just give him away like that. He's a legit 2 way middle 6 skilled guy. If Caps desperately need the cap room and they were offered a 2nd I could see them trading him.
Toffoli and Teuro probably don't interest Caps too much. They need to use cap space to add legit top guys. Those guys are good but nothing special.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>There in lies the difference, one guy is going in, the other coming out… what if the gut going in can not recover from his demons? Additionally, Carolina is taking a low cost gamble that a proven veteran with a history of playoff success can push them over the top. Bear is a third pair, depth d-man who isn’t really a difference maker, so why take the chance?</div></div>
Bear is a 2nd pair guy. But yeah if he doesn't come out, obviously no one would trade for him. Think the assumption here is he does come out.

Kuzy went into the program twice. Was literally traded like a week after he got out of it the 2nd time.

Pass on both of those trades. Kuemper will be fine next season once the Caps team is good and he has a restart.
Bear is also good. Sucks he's in the program but he's too good to pay to trade away.
I should rephrase: I'm okay with trading either, I'm not okay trading away very important 2nd round picks for someone to take them.

Next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>The others explained it really well.
From my view point Robertson isn't really worth much and doesn't address any of the caps needs. Maybe if it was a first line winger or something along that line it would generate interest, but losing a round in the draft and getting a meah forward in exchange for an anchor defenseman is not smart.
Additionally, Sure Iorio is expendable for the right deal but the capitals will not be getting rid of first round picks for the next couple years, they are actively rebuilding as well as trying to stay in the picture for Ovi so they will move later picks but in no way are they moving a first and a young prospect for one piece.</div></div>
I can see the Caps trading their 1st IF the return is a legit young player. Otherwise, no way they move it.

Jensen is a legit top 4 defensive defensemen. On his own he's probably getting a 2nd, especially with money eaten. I like Robertson but he's looking like a middle 6 winger. Caps have plenty of those. They need legit top 6 guys.

Why are the Caps eating money AND sending a 2nd for a middle 6 winger+3rd? If anything those need to be swapped. Either way, don't think Caps would make that TOR trade.
The VAN trades seems a bit too much. Hronek looks good but his numbers away from Hughes aren't great. I'd still like him but not at that price.
