Wow, what an amazing game to watch live! The Rocket complete a comeback from 5-1 down topped off with a Cole Caufield game tying goal that ignited another building’s crowd and a nail-biting shootout victory.

Cole Caufield was the best player on the ice. (Duh) Josh Ho-Sang is also head and shoulders above his teammates.

Rafaël Harvey-Pinard scored after the Marlies goalie turned over the puck.

Gianni Fairbrother left the game early after taking 3 giant hits in his first few shifts. Martel blocked a shot with his wrist (I think) and left the game, returned for a shift, and left for good. The Rocket were down 5-1 with 5 minutes left in the 2nd and down to 16 skaters.

McNiven wasn’t great. He was pulled after 5 goals against, and in relief in his Rocket debut, Kevin Bureau-Poulin was a brick wall. He might steal McNiven’s job by the time Primeau gets back.

Soon later Bourque scored for Laval. 6 minutes later Louis Belpedio scored on a Rocket of a shot on the powerplay. Xavier Ouellet took a hooking penalty, but Lukas Vejdemo scored a SHG on a laser wrister.

With 7 minutes left in the 3rd, Cole Caufield intercepts the puck at centre ice speeds in on the right side of the offensive zone, and wires a wrister top-corner. You could hear and feel the excitement building as he skated in. That was the most incredible moment I’ve had watching a hockey game in person.

Laval was all over the puck for the rest of the 3rd, and after a back-and-forth overtime, the game went to shootout.

Cole Caufield scored the first goal of the shootout, and Josh Ho-Sang scored right after him. The next 9 shooters didn’t get anything. Joey Anderson scores, and the Rocket need to score to stay alive. Lukas Vejdemo rips a great wrist shot past Hutchinson to keep the Rocket in it. On Laval’s 9th shot, Rafaël Harvey-Pinard scores from forehand to backhand, and wins the game for the Rocket. Just an amazing experience.
