A GM has been chosen to fill the opening in Florida. The new GM is my former agm, @Club_de_Hockey_le_Canadien on CF and @1909Canadienz on Twitter, some of you may know him from trade inquires. Please give him time to make a team page before filling his dm's with trade offers. As with any new GM he will be on BOG watch until further notice.
Congrats Sean!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
28 NOVEMBER 2021
It has been an honor to serve as a member of the GM Game across 5 seasons and 4 versions. The time has come to step down as GM. Thanks to everyone for the great times. The game has come a long way, and I have developed real, lasting friendships that go beyond moving names around on a forum thread.
I will be applying for a staffer job in the Winnipeg Jets organization where I will remain in contact with anyone who would like to reach out.
Thanks again, and farewell!
-@A_K, former POHO Florida Panthers (2021), Winnipeg Jets (2019-2021), St Louis Blues (2018-19), Detroit Red Wings (2017-2018), New Jersey Devils (2017)

Wow, what an amazing game to watch live! The Rocket complete a comeback from 5-1 down topped off with a Cole Caufield game tying goal that ignited another building’s crowd and a nail-biting shootout victory.
Cole Caufield was the best player on the ice. (Duh) Josh Ho-Sang is also head and shoulders above his teammates.
Rafaël Harvey-Pinard scored after the Marlies goalie turned over the puck.
Gianni Fairbrother left the game early after taking 3 giant hits in his first few shifts. Martel blocked a shot with his wrist (I think) and left the game, returned for a shift, and left for good. The Rocket were down 5-1 with 5 minutes left in the 2nd and down to 16 skaters.
McNiven wasn’t great. He was pulled after 5 goals against, and in relief in his Rocket debut, Kevin Bureau-Poulin was a brick wall. He might steal McNiven’s job by the time Primeau gets back.
Soon later Bourque scored for Laval. 6 minutes later Louis Belpedio scored on a Rocket of a shot on the powerplay. Xavier Ouellet took a hooking penalty, but Lukas Vejdemo scored a SHG on a laser wrister.
With 7 minutes left in the 3rd, Cole Caufield intercepts the puck at centre ice speeds in on the right side of the offensive zone, and wires a wrister top-corner. You could hear and feel the excitement building as he skated in. That was the most incredible moment I’ve had watching a hockey game in person.
Laval was all over the puck for the rest of the 3rd, and after a back-and-forth overtime, the game went to shootout.
Cole Caufield scored the first goal of the shootout, and Josh Ho-Sang scored right after him. The next 9 shooters didn’t get anything. Joey Anderson scores, and the Rocket need to score to stay alive. Lukas Vejdemo rips a great wrist shot past Hutchinson to keep the Rocket in it. On Laval’s 9th shot, Rafaël Harvey-Pinard scores from forehand to backhand, and wins the game for the Rocket. Just an amazing experience.

So I just watched the highlights from tonight’s game.
The “I can’t believe it didn’t go in shot” at the end of the 1st for Lehkonen is so on brand for poor Lehky. (I say this respectfully, with Lehkonen being the guy who scored the biggest goal in the last 28 years for this franchise.)
The Kreider goal assisted by Zibanejad on the cross-ice pass literally caused a pain in my chest, as it reminded me of this goal from 2017: (where it’s Zibanejad from Kreider)

Phenomenal goal by Julien Gauthier.

Oh yeah, I wouldn’t mind Ducharme leaving, playoff run saved him, he hasn’t been great

Sabres could've just gotten a real cap dump from somewhere and gotten assets for it.
Or they could have done the NHL 22 move and give a random free agent a 1year $18M contract (or something like 7) and they could avoid helping the Islanders

The Sabres actually needed to make this trade, not the Islanders. They needed a contract in order to not fall below the cap floor if it turns out that they're deadline sellers.

Sabres gets to trade out players at the deadline and still be cap compliant after that big trade with Vegas.
Islanders save money by getting a contract of a player that will never play again off the books.
Other than that, it's nothingness for nothingness.
Fair deal.

Now they have a good bit of cap space to sign a LD for next year (and re-sign Dobson to a deal)

The thing is that neither of those players would’ve fixed our scoring woes. Ultimately, it’s probably for the best that the season has played out as it has, because it’s better for an established team like Montréal to be really bad for one year than barely miss the playoffs like we probably would have if we had Eddy and Carey sooner.
