Not trying to be mean-spirited but how do you think Vancouver becomes cap compliant without having to dump Boeser or Garland? The OEL contract is too long , even with the cap supposedly going up considerably in the next few years, and contending teams don't have that cap speace. To get rid of the Myers contract will also cost you because every team knows that you're not cap compliant and will take advantage (like what the Hawks had to do with the Bickel contract, throw in Teravinen, awful trade). Interested in your thoughts.

Not sure that Minnesota goes for that trade, but it is intriguing. Given the 3 additional first round picks, would you look to move up in the draft, and which team would be your target? I would think Philadelphia could be interested.

If I'm the Hawks, I don't know if I'm giving up Ottawa's second to take on Myers. Maybe Dallas' third.

Next year
Chicago declines. Hawks already have a glut of young defensemen so they don't need Broberg. Ceci is a cap dump, which would cost the Oilers draft choices. To get the Hawks to retain salary on Murphy, Edmonton would need to give not get draft picks.

Not saying you're wrong, but where did you hear that the cap is going up by $3.5 million? Everything I've read just says $1 million for next year.

Offseason Plan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mk458</b></div><div>Foegle might not be worth much, but Edmonton can't afford to lose Ceci. He's so consistent and they know what they are going to get from him every shift. Not to mention they have no depth at RHD at all, Desharnias already is playing too many minutes. Edmonton doesn't move Ceci unless they're making a big splash for another right hand dman in free agency, but they don't have the cap space to do that.</div></div>
Wouldn't the Oilers free agency splash really be signing Bouchard to a long-term contract? Always liked him (thought the Hawks should have drafted him over Boqvist), who looks like he could be stepping into his own. Oilers will probably need to sacrifice either Ceci or Kulak to sign Bouchard long term.

Hugues draft
Easy no from Chicago. Two cap dumps and two "C" prospects for a 1st and a 2nd? Chicago may use those picks to move up in the draft or acquire better prospects. Sorry.

Kane Ideas and predictions
As a Hawks fan, I like your thoughts, but if Dubas acquires Kane (regardless of what's going back) to play 3rd line minutes, he should be fired immediately. Kane, regardless of his stats this year, is not a 3rd line player. Interesting discussion points though.

Garak, not sure why you'd decline it? I know Dickinson is nothing special and would fall into one of the 300 4th liners the Hawks have but the contract isn't bad, and we pick up a 3rd in '24. That's why I'd be interested. I'm not sure we'd get much more for that small a salary.

They're already above the floor, unless they trade both Toews and Kane. I think a better trade partner could be a team on the brink of the playoffs. They might be willing to give you the picks if they think Karlsson can get them over the proverbial hump.

What about Bob
Would love to see the Hawks get Lundell, but I doubt Florida would give him up and Bob might just be good enough to steal some games that would hurt our chances to get Bedard, so I doubt it happens. Nice thought though.

Vegas
Unless this is Kane's request to go to Vegas and Davidson's hands are tied, I really don't think the Hawks take this offer. We'd be stuck with Karlsson for the next 5 years and there's no way he's around when the rebuild is done. Roy and Hauge are also not long-term guys in the rebuild. If you swapped out the players for one or two more high draft choices, coming back to Chicago, it might work.

Hawks won't want to give up assets for Karlsson. Also, his contract is too long and it would be tough to flip him at the deadline. Doesn't help the rebuild.

No chance Chicago gives up any picks let alone two for Foegele. They already have an abundance of cheaper forwards like him in the system.

I get what you're saying but if you're right and let's say the Hawks dump Toews and Kane at the deadline, and eat half of their salary, they'd still be cap compliant (at this point) and would probably take on an expiring bad contract from a team trying to make the playoffs who's up against the cap and needs to dump salary to acquire player X who will put them over the top. At that point Davidson would have the leverage and would probably want picks (or top prospects) coming to Chicago as well.

I think that the Hawks even with Murphy will be awful. They'll be looking for picks and could trade Murphy for a hall at the trade deadline (or sooner). Holl and Kerfoot are really contract dumps and I don't see the Hawks giving up any picks for those.

Beauvilier for Kylington
Chicago has a lot of defensemen like Wilde in their pipeline, so I think that they would turn it down. With the rebuild/teardown I also don't think they give up a 4th in a deep draft in 2023.

Do not take seriously
I know that it will never happen but that's not a bad trade for both teams. NJ gets the best player in the game and Edmonton gets a rising star, a dependable depth center, a decent goalie, some picks, possibly another talented defenseman and some cap space (depending on what they would sign Zacha for). Again, will probably never happen but if Gretzky can be traded (iroincally by the same team), then anyone can be traded.

Realistic Debrincat Trade Part II
Folks, again, this is what's going around the internet right now (and if it's from the internet, it must be true). The angst about this fake trade is laughable. This is an internet board, none of us is an NHL GM and 99% of us (including myself) don't know anything about these picks or prospects.

Realistic Debrincat Trade Part II
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>Well, that is quite an overpay and not at all reasonable or realistic</div></div>
I agree it's an overpayment and probably not realistic, but the trades of a low #1, a B or C prospect and a cap dump aren't realistic either. My guess is that Debrincat signs a long-term deal with the Hawks to be part of the future core and all this trade talk is moot.

If you read what I posted, I only chose the Devils because they have a good talent pool. This could be any team, that has high first rounders and a good talent pool.
