<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>Just because they signed DeSmith doesn't mean they intended on keeping him. Especially at that rate.
I'm sorry you don't get that. If they need to fit under the cap, that's how they do it. Period.
They aren't going to trade Rust to keep DeSmith or whatever non sense you want to keep going with.
By DeSmith, been nice knowing you, but he will either be in WBS or gone unless JJ is traded and they aren't giving anything up to trade him because they don't need to.</div></div>
So unless Jarry has a huge increase in performance he has the worse record, but we still want to give up DeSmith (the better goalie) cause stats dont matter.

Offer sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>Not at all. JJ contract is 3.25m for the next 4 years. He’s barely an nhl caliber defenseman. Hallander is 19 and doesn’t have amazing numbers. He’s a solid B level prospect with minor upside. Middle 6 winger at best. You’re not giving up an A level prospect....penguins actually don’t have any really good prospects. I also said a 2nd maybe a 1st depending on how late of a 2nd/1st it would be.
Bjugstad make 4.1 million and is a 3rd line center or bottom 6 winger.
He’s had 1 good year the 3 seasons. (49points career high). 200games 89 points (49 of those were in one year)
Last 3 years
14 points
49 points
26point.
He’s an average middle 6 forward making 4.1 million call it what you want but he has minimum upside at 27 years old. What you see is what you get.</div></div>
JJ isnt good, and is barey NHL level but he is still NHL capable and if he was 1.5m Less no one ould care cause he could just be a 6/7 D and meh, so you are essentailly buying 1-1.5m of retention. Its costs you but not that much to a rebuilder. Bjugs points may not be amazing but has had some solid underlying numbers at times and can still work.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>So the sens take 2 cap dumps and don’t get a top prospect or a 1st round pick. And the penguins receive a 2nd round pick? Not how cap dumping works unfortunately
Try
2nd (maybe a 1st) and hallander to dump JJ
Sens maybe give you a 3rd for jug if you toss in jarry</div></div>
Bjugs is not a dump, A 1st and hallander is a ridiculous overpayment to dump JJ.

Right but evening out the cap still needs to be paid for. The lucic contract has negative value... you pay for Letang he is good, you pay to rid of Lucic he isnt.

This is true for every high profile player... but you Mathews and Tavares didnt have the same pressure to make it
Its similar to your boss asking you to take a 20% pay cut but you could make that back by spending time working a second job.
Why all the hate on Marner, He is great, pay him as such or trade him.

That is a scary good team, also if Marner signed for that now I really wonder how Leafs fans would react. They seem to hate him for not taking a team friendly deal, then he signs one... probabaly explodes their minds
